Best camcorder for under $150?

Hi all. I'm wanting to buy my nephew a half decent camcorder for his birthday. But of course I don't want to break the bank. So I was thinking that there should be some manner of decent camcorder in 2020 that can be had for $150 or less. Which one is the best in that range? He likes camping and fishing so it would be really cool if it did low-light pretty well. Although I realize that may not be possible at that price range. Thanks!

You figured this out after joining half a year ago and making 21 comments?

It's safe to assume that I'd either lurked a lot years ago, or I used to have a different screen name that I've lost.

Ok then. eBay is full of half-decent camcorders for less than $150. My personal favorite is the Canon HF100/HF10/HF11 family of 2008. HD on a memory card, for around $50. The HF11 can be a bit more expensive. The only downside: no 60p, and 24p is within interlaced stream. But you can get 60p from 30i and it will still look good.

I have no idea about new half-decent camcorders for $150.

Here is a budget one

I used it for a while, and its great. Zoom on this one is unbelievable (if you have steady hands). You can get it under $200

Panasonic HC-V180K Full HD Camcorder
