Need DAP With Bluetooth and Bluetooth Headphones That Will Work At 30-35 Feet

Hello,

As a result of two serious knee surgeries over the past two years, my current, and long term conditioning is pretty much limited to walking in a pool at my health club. I do this five days a week, for an hour at a time, and need some music or I'm going to be literally bored to death.

I am looking for a good sounding DAP (Digital Audio Player) that offers Bluetooth and a good pair of Bluetooth headphones to pair with it. While I am walking in the pool, I will place the audio player on a chair at the side of the pool, in the middle of the area where I am walking laps. What is available that will provide me with seamless Bluetooth audio transmission as I walk back and forth up to a max distance of 30-40 feet from the player?

Thanks very much for any help with this. I thought it was going to be relatively easy to identify what was needed until I read several reviews of headphones that only connected to players at 15 feet, and some players that didn't even manage that. Per the Bluetooth standards I've researched, in an open area, with a clear line of sight between the player and the headphones, 15 meters/45 feet should be expected but apparently either some manufacturers are not doing what is necessary to make that possible, or the standards are not accurate for the real world?

BT connectivity is hit or miss with any device. Just buy decent quality components and you should be OK, but you may need to just test and return if not sufficient.

Did you consider using your phone as the music player? A waterproof pouch would keep it safe. Alternatively, you can buy a low cost no-contract smart phone under $60 at Walmart (Best buy, Target, etc) and simply use it as a music player. Get one with a microSD card slot and you can store as much as you care on it.
