Wifi. I am pretty sure it is the latest firmware since I saw it update once in a while.

Cool. Is everyone still enjoying their M801D-A3? I am. I'm not really too upset that the 4k came out, since i'm 13-14 feet away, it wouldn't matter.

Still working great and enjoying it ...I have yet to see another 3D HD set of this size that competes with price/performance.

I also have this set for 2 years now and was thinking of getting the P series 4k Vizio set, However, this set is working so was wondering if it can sold? if so how? or should I just stick with this until it stops working?

I'm still enjoying mine, if nothing else has changed and you still are enjoying yours, I'd say just keep it.

I'm upgrading sound. Maybe look that way or something else if you still like the way this one looks?

I haven't done any firmware update as well, I have turned off wifi and am still on the 2014 firmware whatever it was. I do have a vizio sound bar so sound is good as well. At that size I don't see anything out there, whenever I am at Costco I look at the 4k set, but know that there is very little 4k content. I guess I will stick with this setup for a while.

Anyone has any latest picture settings?

Not me. I really don't see a PQ difference in the 4k sets I've seen at the distance I sit (about 12 feet). I'm still really pleased with my picture and like the fact that I can watch a 3d movie occasionally.

Wanted to update. I'm getting a M80-D3 from Costco in a few days. They are currently $3,899. They are going to put in on sale shortly, and if you want, you can take your receipt back and get the difference back if you want to, which is awesome.

Now, here's the really good news! If you buy this tv from Costco, it will come with a 2 year warranty. If you buy it with the Costco Citi Visa card, you get a 5 year warranty from Costco, for FREE. Yes, free! Then, if you want, you can purchase the square trade warranty from Costco, and get 2 more additional years on-top of the 5 years for $89, which gets you 7 YEARS OF WARRANTY! It's a no-brainer! I'll never buy another tv from anywhere but Costco.

I know this sounds crazy, but I spoke with the store manager all about it, and this is the new warranty policy that started not that long ago.

Not sure, but I've watched the patterns of these sales for a long time on the 80" TV's. At least $200-$400.

Got a surprise firmware update today on my 2013 M 80

From firmware 1.90.33.009
To firmware 2.0.6a.0090

I don't see any difference in picture menus based on my memory.

Ditto as of last week. I wonder what is different. I wished we had release notes!

anyone else have this dirty screen issue?

anyone else have this "dirty screen" issue? look top middle in attached file

The darkness in the night sky is not part of the picture.. you can see horizontal lines as well. It exists on every input.. every source... same "dirt".

Vizio replaced the first set this happened to.. a worse version as it had more coloration to it. You can almost forget its there.. then you'll see a blank wall or solid bright sky and bamm.. the "dirt" is revealed again..

We have a fairtrade warranty active and that should cover this.. but was wondering if anyone else had this issue.

Thanks.

PS.. also wondering if anyone has gotten Google Home talking to the TV to turn it on or off through some odd integrations. I think I have a Logitech harmony remote around somewhere.. (won in a contest but never used).. and I think I might be able to use IFTTT to get it working to use voice control through google home.. but wondered if anyone has done it yet.

Thanks again.

Hi PlayNice, I tried your settings and got the blue saturation/artifacts. My old settings don't work anymore since the firmware update either - no blue artifacts but the colors are off now...faces look like clay, sometimes to yellow, sometimes to green...I started with setting somewhere back in this thread and tweaked them...was hoping to find another set to start from again after doing a factory reset...not sure what to do...I can't find the settings I started with anymore in the thread, there is to many pages now lol

I noticed this same "dirt" - I was thinking it was related my settings being messed up after the latest software update but appears its not. Anyone know if Vizio has to replace the TV at this point, if they replace with the same version or do they update/upgrade to whatever version they are selling now?

response about Vizio 80inch and Squaretrade warranty

Fairtrade sent a replacement TV.. a recent model 75inch Sammy. Not 3D, not 80inch.. but they did not even want the 80inch. I have it leaning against a wall until some friends/family claim it.. pretty good deal overall. Feeling stupid having bought those 3D dvds... otherwise am happy with the new clean screen.

So, to review.. bought first one around Labor Day 2013, then June 2014 got it replaced through Vizio via 2 year manufacturers warranty bought through Costco. The Squaretrade deal at Costco added 3 years for a total of 5 years.

So about 6 months ago now we noticed the "dirt".. but things were busy and we kept forgetting to do something about it. So contacted Vizio, they said not their problem (past teh 2year warranty) though they did try to "support" me in basically rebooting the TV. Ran through the same thing with Squaretrade phone rep, sent info, receipts, photos of the issues and they decided to send a replacement unit.

From what I understand, the remaining Squaretrade warranty does NOT now apply to the replacement unit. That's the only "gotcha" here.. but this TV should do fine until having a 4K unit for 4K content becomes more commonplace.
