- Select few owners determine an esoteric "default" in the operation of their televisions.

I must be missing something or carry a different sense of humor....
Your assumption is a gross oversimplification. If you want details, PM me and I'll explain everything.

Briansxx, Shinepushpan,

This is a great question, but I'll handle it only through the PM system. Send me your complete model code, version number, country where your purchased.

@Salacak I wanted to send a PM about your February 17 post re: the different boards, but I just registered and have no posts so I guess I can't send PMs yet. Suggestions?

Why? If you have a method of providing those that want a golf chipset to get a golf chip set, why not just share it with everyone?

This sounds like the sort of important information readers of this thread should hear directly. Is there something that needs to be hidden? Is this like Enemy of the State where DJ Jazzy Jeff will play Roller11 and be pursued by the hired guns from Samsung who read about his misdeeds exposing their waranty process on AVSForum?

My TV uses arc to output from the tv to my pioneer receiver, but everyone I start the TV, it resets to using the TV speakers instead of the receiver via anyconnect... But it does turn on the receiver.

Any ideas on how I can make the receiver option stick?

Sorry to ask this but I just want to confirm: Some or all people with an HU8550 (60", if it matters) can't get 4:4:4 @ 60Hz regardless of input source (computer, game console, etc.); input connector (HDMI 1, 2, 3, 4); or settings (HDMI UHD Color). Is this correct?

What does the HU8550 look like when serving as a computer monitor at 30Hz, not for gaming but for office work?

I have a quick question, I've had my 65HU8550 since last October TS02 with the NovaTek chip, I don't game via PC so the reported problems with the Novatek chip haven't caused me any issues.
But since I've been reading this thread since last August this issue first reared its ugly head last December with a poster named Wigglywaffles then it started again with roller11 in January and has been a ongoing daily rant since. This subject has peaked my interest several times and I have tried googling the subject using various key words and what I have found is all results about the failures of the Novatek chip in any forum or webpage I can find was either started or all the comments are dominated by a poster named roller11, now I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I do subscribe to the " if there is smoke the there is probably Fire theory" and I don't see anyone devoting as much time as roller11 has to this subject unless there is some payback at the end.
So roller11 what is your endgame?
I don't expect an honest answer and I'm sure im not the only one to make this observation, but it's been eating at me for several weeks so I had to ask!

I know pilotArt and some others are using OTA antennas. What are you using for your audio?

Currently I have my stb and tv going through my avr via hdmi. I also want to take advantage of my ota antenna in my attic. I was going to hook up that coax to the tv..but then though what is my solution for the audio. I want to continue the audio from my avr.

Why would you ask me a question, then immediately tell me that anything I say is assumed to be a lie? In what universe does that even make sense?

Usually there is an option to turn that off in the receiver (i.e. TV Audio on/off).

The 4:4:4 @60Hz "issue" is only applicable when sending a 4k signal from a PC using one of the latest Nvidia graphics card, selecting the output to 4k 8bit 4:4:4 @60Hz.
No game console can output at 4k today and probably for the foreseeable future, so consoles are unaffected.

Some receivers (like my Denon AVR-X2100W) have an HDMI settings option to disable automatic switching to TV Audio. (This settings is separate from the HDMI control setting -- required to be on for ARC -- and the HDMI Power Control settings -- which I have set to off. If your receiver does not have a separate option for TV Audio Switching, then I would suggest using something like a Harmony remote and program it to switch to the proper AVR input depending on what you are trying to do.

I have an opportunity to purchase a display model 65" HU9000 TS01 for $2,700 after tax. It has been sitting out for 5 months. Would you guys do this or wait on a JU 7500? I know the 7500 will not have HDR or any real advantages other than peak illumination which I'm worried is marketing only.

Hey Now!

Not to be redundant, but why? This is an enthusiast forum and it seems you have a means of correcting an issue some of the members may have so if you posted the solution here we could all point to that post just like many of us do to lovingdvd's calibration settings post. This whole issue would go away and we could move on.

RollerTide2011: You are wasting your time trying to get an answer from roller11. This guy is contradicting himself on every other post. He can't think straight. I don't think he knows what he wants. In an earlier post he admitted that 1% of his posts are to help noobies while 99% of his posts are to defend himself from "vicious and malicious attacks". If you get a straight answer from him (via PM) please share it with the rest of us.

But doesn't my suggestion make that all go away? You post the way to fix it and when someone asks, you (or anybody else for that matter) directs the poster to your post number and the problem is solved and you no longer need to defend yourself. Maybe I'm simple but it seems like an easy solution to this whole problem.

can someone tell me if the VESA mounting holes on the Samsung HU8550 are equidistant from the top and bottom edge of the set and therefore centered on the back of the display. or if not how far down from the top edge are the top holes. I'm trying to hang a wall mount before I get the tv.

Peak illuminator will definitely help bright things look better (the sun, stuff on fire, anything small that requires brightness). But I do think 2700 out the door is killer, get a 4 or 5 year extended warranty and your good to go!!

I'm out of town right now so don't have access to my material but if you can get hold of the manual it has the actual dimensions for the location of the mounting holes. Pretty sure the manual can be found on line.
