I have made up my mind for the new TV purchase for my new house. I will be buying the UN65H7150 over the Vizio P series 70 incher. Better to have 1080p 3D than 4k that may not be able to display 4k Blu-ray at full-bandwidth, I think. Hopefully the price will be a little bit better in early March.

As weird as it sounds give the tv a week to "break in" as long as that week does not put you out of your return window, also try lowering the back light to around 10, if neither of those things help you'll have to return the tv for another to gamble for a better panel

Is this more noticeable with a larger screen? This is the first tv I have had with a screen this large. It replaced my Samsung UN55D8000 which did not have this problem at all. I had no issues at all with that tv-just wanted a larger one.

I bought the TV at Best Buy 2 weeks ago for $1799.99. Dell has it on sale for $1697.99. I've got a $102 price match from BB if anyone is interested.

If you are a premium member you've got 45 days. Everyone else I believe it's 14 days.

I spoke with Customer Service like 4 hours ago. The lady told me that I've got 45 days since I'm a premium member to either return the TV, exchange or price match.

However, you have to go to a BB store with proof to get the price match. I'm at the store in line. I'll let you know what happens.

For anyone having trouble with Anynet+ or the ARC (audio return channel), here is how I was able to get it to work.

DVR>>>TV HDMI 1
TV HDMI 2(ARC)>>>Yamaha RX-V577 HDMI Out (ARC)
PS3>>>Yamaha RX-V577 HDMI 1

HDMI Control on PS3 and Yamaha Receiver is turned on
TV Anynet+ is on and Auto Turn Off is on
TV is set to use receiver under speaker settings
I'm using the TV's IR Extender to control DVR
DVR is set to passthru audio

Now everything works as expected. I can use the small smart remote to turn the TV, DVR, & Receiver on or off at once. When turning everything on, the TV speakers play for a few seconds, then it switches over to the receiver and plays the DVR audio. It plays 5.1 Dolby Digital if the movie has it.

If I want to use the PS3, I turn it on and the receiver and TV both switch automatically to the correct inputs. When I turn it off, it switches back to the DVR.

When watching the TV's Netflix app, I'm able to get 5.1 Dolby Digital through the ARC. When using Plex to stream a movie from my PC I can get 5.1 DTS through ARC. I'm not sure if it would work with something like 7.1 DTS-HD MA as I only have a 5.1 setup.

Nice. I think I'm on the cusp of my 15 days and possibly a day past. Wonder what they will do if anything.

You can always talk to a manager. They've priced matched other stuff for me after a day or so the sale had passed. As long as it isn't an outrageous sales price they'll do it.

Quick couple of questions guys...

1. What is the advantage of using the CAL-DAY and CAL-NIGHT settings instead of the MOVIE settings?

2. I have an UN65H7150 with UH02 panel. Is this panel comparable to the much sought after TH01 panel?

Thanks for your help!

Thanks. The movie I tested is 5.1 DTS audio. The receiver is showing the DTS.

Also, when I go to the Smart Hub or use an app like Youtube that uses PCM and then exit, the receiver no longer receives 5.1 Dolby Digital from my DVR unless I turn everything off and back on. It's like if the TV switches to PCM, then it won't switch back to Dobly Digital.

Edit: Actually when I use any app and then switch back to the DVR it will no longer do 5.1 Dolby Digital ARC unless I turn off and back on everything.

Edit: Actually, if I just change the TV's HDMI input to 2 and then back to 1 after using apps, then it will swap back to 5.1 Dolby Digital for the DVR without having to turn off everything first. Maybe a firmware bug?

I was wondering about that ... If I want to stream a movie from Netflix and the TV is connected with the ARC via HDMI to the Denon 7200 A/V receiver, what kind of surround can I get from the receiver ? everything is connected to the Denon via HDMI . Is the ARC capable of transmitting DTS ? I mean, is the DTS surround reliable on streaming ? I never have done any video streaming before .Thanks

It's probably one of the best 1080p TVs out there. If you don't need the tv right away I would wait for the 2015 to come out in a couple of months.

But again, even if none of the 60" panels are Samsung, that's not to say that the 60" H7150 is necessarily a bad TV to be avoided. I personally do prefer getting the Samsung panel myself, but if one has the option of an easy exchange (in case the panel doesn't work out), then I guess there is no reason why one couldn't at least give it a shot, if 60" is the perfect size one is looking for... I guess that's my main point in response to Spud...

Z-Mad,

I just got the 60" H7150 with the GH02 panel. I have applied your most recent setting to my tv and although I think its a little dark for my tastes the colors look great(backlight I know can be increased at the expense of washing out colors).

My question for you, is through the DVD everything is amazing, however when watching ATT Uverse HD content the blacks can looks pixalated or blocky. Is there a setting for watching tv to get rid of that. We have an older Sammy LCD 46" that does not do that on the same channel(granted I do not recall how much "calibration" I ever did with that set)

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Chris

Just left my local BestBuy (Orlando-Waterford) and got $108.63 back on a price match with Dell.com... Dell has the UN65H7150 listed for $1,697.99 and I had paid $1,799.99 at BB... $108.83 refund isn't too shabby! LOL

Still nice to get a hundred and some change back! If not for this forum I probably never would have known about Dell's sale and missed out on a price match from BB. They matched for me too.
