Yes, there is a protective film on the bezel that you have to remove. If you pull slowly, it'll come off in about four long sections.

I have always disliked LCDs as TVs but I guess I will have to get used to them now. Spent a few hours so far calibrating and watching different sources. I am quickly getting it dialing in and it looks great. Up next will be a little Halo 2 Anniversary gaming before bed.

How's your uniformity? Did you get a TS01 Panel? I just bought the h6400 2 weeks ago and I paid $1059.00 for it. I'm still in the 30 day return winfow so I'm thinking of upgrading and pocketing the diff. I would be getting a 55". I have a ts01 panel with no clouding or flashlighting but the black levels arent as good as the 7150.

You know those are going to be heavily discounted come Black Friday... already announced. Why would you buy one 2 weeks before a huge sale?

Because I got it at a great price and I don't need to worry about a small loss if any. Costco took the $700 off before their scheduled sale. So in a sense, they were BF prixes. Very impressed with the quality. I've never seen football so smooth before.

I exchanged the first H7150 for another. The banding is reduced on this one. There's still a bit there, but what's new versus the old one is flashlighting in all corners. Yay!

This thing is going back and I'm done shopping for a TV this year.

This was in Nashua, N.H. I was going to pay the full price thinking I could just get the price adjustment on the 21st. And low and behold, they had a sign with the $700 rebate. Maybe your local store can call them and see what's up. They sold 5 in 3 hours. I had to get a swap on mine as it had a bezel issue. In the time when I picked it up and went back to get the replacement was when they sold a bunch.

I have the 60" so Sharp panel but picture is better than my 55" 6300 with Samsung panel that is now in the living room. Watched a 3d movie last weekend much better than I thought it would be I will watch some more next weekend.

That's great to hear. One night with the 7100/7150 and I'm ready to keep it over the vizio M65 without hesitation. Didn't see one block during the whole football game last nIght. The picture was astounding . I don't myself getting a better picture under 1,500.

You'll be returning TV's weekly if you're expecting 3,000 TV quality at half the price, gotta compromise somewhere and enjoy what looks good to you.

Hoping to get some Xbox in tonight.

The 55H7150 is being advertised this week at Best Buy for $999 ($2 more than in their BF ad). The 65" is $1499.

I've been following this thread for a while and will probably jump on this TV tonight. I'd rather avoid Black Friday Madness.

Yes I got a TS01 panel I asked the BB guy to look for this specifically and he went back and took a photo of the label for me before I bought it. I can try to take some photos of the black levels. I am not the best at noticing all of the detail you all do. There is light bleed from the corners but not major flashlighing that I can see. Not sure about clouding I dont really know what I am looking for. If the room is not completely dark I do not notice anything. Whats the best test patterns to use and I will post some pictures.

Also to note the BB guy told me they are running Holiday return policy now so you have until Jan. 15th to return the TV.

You'll find flashlighting and general uniformity issues in a dark room with a darker movie playing. You shouldn't need any test patterns. Pop in Harry Potter. That's generally a good black level/uniformity test.

I was watching TNG on Bluray which is pillar bared and everything looked ok, but again I still do not know what I'm seeing.

Hmm, seems shady for those waiting to go look until the 21st. Hey sorry we sold them all because we started early isn't really a good reason to not have them... Anyhow, what was the actual price, was it $700 of the "discounted price" they sell it at normally, or 700 off the made up "suggested retail price"?

I asked why they started the discount early and the manager said he manufacturer started the discount early. If you go to the Samsung website, the set it available for $1,499 direct. The price for the TV out the door was $1,479. It was NH so no sales tax. Normal price is $2,179.

Costco is usually legit so I don't think they would be careless. This discount was not Costco's but from the manufacturer. The register automatically took the $700 off as a coupon so their systems were updated to do the discount before the 21st. Have you asked your local Costco?

The $1.5K price for the 65" is available at almost all retailers now - Best Buy, Costco, B&H,... and even Samsung.com
I assume Samsung dropped the price, and retailers followed.

FYI, it's the same price ($2 more) at BB, Crutchfield, and Samsung.com right now (and some more retailers).

Ok here is my attempt at posting a photo of my black uniformity. My iPhone kept reducing the light because of the bright image in the center. The commercial I paused is a window boxed 16:9 image. I can confirm I have no flashlighing and from what I can tell no clouding either. The lower right hand corner seems to be the brightest of all the corners but not by much. It is only my second night with the TV so I am still playing with settings. I seem to be really sensitive to motion blur on LCDs but only with peoples faces. My brain needs to adapt.

Z-Mad settings for UN65H7150

up front, sorry if this has been answered already. Has Z-Mad or anyone else posted calibration settings for UN65H7150? And would the settings below for UN75H7150 be okay to use on the UN65H7150? Thanks.

The black level of this TV measured 0.005 fL (0.016 cd/m2), which is very good. In an ANSI contrast test it performed very well too with a contrast ratio of 4644:1 (white 46.44 fL, black 0.01 fL). All graphs of the calibration are attached below...

For those comparing, the 70" Vizio P had a contrast ratio of 4560:1 (white 45.60 fL, black 0.01 fL - same as H7150), while it's black level (MLL) without local dimming engaged was much worse than H7150 and measured 0.019 fL (vs. 0.005 of the H7150). Vizio P only measured lower "zero" black with FALD engaged and turning off the backlight entirely, which during regular content appeared as black blobs or dead screen zones, which I personally thought looked unnatural and like black strobing.

So here are the settings for the 75" H7150:

Grabbed a 55H7150 tonight at Best Buy. The associate told me they only had ones in stock with Sharp panels but it is actually a TS01 version.

I did some research and I'm fairly certain that the 55" only comes with the TS01 Panel.

Like those above I also picked up the 55" version from BB. Was on offer for $999 so decided to miss the Black Friday craziness.

Got a TS01 panel with no clouding, banding at all.

I purchased the UN55H7150AF at Best Buy yesterday at the $999. This is an upgrade from a 32" LCD Olevia that we purchased on Black Friday at Circuit City around 2006! No obvious issues to me, although I'm not an experienced calibrator. I was motivated by the review on rtings.com and am certainly not disappointing. Would like to know the optimal settings for the 55", as I've tried settings similar to the above but it still looks dark. Any advice?

@brick33308

I use z-mad's settings on my un60h7150 which is a sharp panel and it works great. The only thing I have had to play with is backlight.

Please don't touch anything in the SM other than what I post below. You can brick your TV.

You need the old style remote. I haven't figured out the code in the new one.

1. Turn the TV Off.
2. With the remote control press Mute, 1, 8, 2, Power. It takes a few seconds and then the SM will appear
3. Arrow down to SVC and press the Enter button in the center of the arrows
4. Arrow down to Expert and press Enter
5 .Right click on N/D ADJ to ON --- NOT FIX
6. Press Enter
7. Press Power
8. Wait a few seconds
9. Press Power
10. The Picture Mode will start in Dynamic
11. Change Picture Mode
12. Done

I realize this is an older post but I am curious if I could enter a sub menu on my 55HU7250 and activate Cinema Black the way you did here for the expert control. Anyone know how?

I agree. I didn't go into the SM but used his CAL-DAY settings for standard mode and also his Movie mode settings. I'm really enjoying both.

Does anyone know how good this TV is for gaming? First person shooter gaming to be specific.
