Just purchased this panel over the weekend.....and noticed the first thing the TV did was download an update(2122). I wish I would have canceled this as the apps do not work for me either. I can't comment on the screen brightness as I never has a chance to view before the update. After messing around with the menus and realizing nothing made any difference I called customer support. He asked if I was running ver. 2122, and when I said yes I also mentioned a quick google search yielded issues with this firmware update. The customer service rep started into his routine and I interrupted him asking if there was a fix. The answer was yes the update should be out by end of next week. Not sure if this is accurate but here is hoping there is something better in the near future.

Also my set turns off both my receiver and tv, but does not turn both on and defaults to the tv speakers - anyone have this issue or know how to resolve this? I am using an HDMI cable and an ARC link capable receiver

I have the 65H7150. I don't know if anyone else has noticed this or if this is just something that Samsung has done on all their sets but by chance I paused the beginning of Gravity (where earth is displayed along with stars on the right), paid attention to the stars, and was flipping back and forth between Movie, Cal-Day, and Cal-Night and saw a stark difference in black level on Cal-Night as compared to the other two. I had calibrated Movie and Cal-Day but not Cal-Night so at first I thought it was a calibration difference so I matched Cal-Day to Cal-Night exactly and the difference was still present. I did the same thing with Movie mode to Cal-Night and Cal-Night still won with all settings the same. It seems Samsung has done something internally to get Cal-Night to have the best black levels. FYI I'm running the latest firmware.

Time to calibrate Cal-Night.

Also, when at BB yesterday, I noticed that the 7150 has more of a gloss/mirror panel, whereas the 6350 had a matte panel. Something to think about when you're thinking about where to mount or table the set.
The matte screen is basically unwatchable in a bright room. I had to return the 6400 series for this reason.

I would have gotten the 7150 but my girl works for Directv and said we had to do 4K. The Ultra Clear Panel on the 7150 makes a HUGE difference for color saturation and bright room viewing. And it's way sexier than the 6350.

forgive the redundant question, but I'm still confused. is the 55" in the H7150 and/or in the UN55H6350 55" guaranteed to be a Samsung panel? A clear, concise answer would be greatly appreciated

From what I recall 55/65 are most likely Samsung panels
60 is a Sharp panel

I bought my 60H7150 last week. Only problem I've had is the TV sometime won't respond to the remote. I try to turn it off or go into the Menu and it takes like 30 seconds. And I was noticing the Smart Hub was coming up randomly. I reset it and hope that fixes it.

Question Apps not loading

So I've recently received the new firmware and now I don't seem to be able to use any apps such as Netflix and Amazon.

Is this a known problem ?

a few people seem to be having this issue, I believe they said it will be fix by an upcoming patch by the end of the week.

I snagged up a 55" on Saturday at $997.99 just in case I decide to switch to that route. At my distance (~11') the 60" feels much better just not so sure about the Sharp panel. I like the thinner bezel of the 55" a lot more also. I have until January 15th to decide with no restocking fee. Tough choices in life lol...

I updated to software version 2123 FYI. Hope it fixes the minor bugs caused by the last update for some folks.

Just need to decide if the 60" with a Sharp panel is worth $325 more than the 55". I can't find much online comparing the two panels in a way that makes me feel comfortable. I had a Sharp LCD before and it was trouble.

It's interesting that not many (if any) have noticed this. I strongly recommend working with the CAL-NIGHT setting (and, I too, am running the latest firmware).

I calibrated the CAL-NIGHT Picture Mode awhile back and have found it to be the best setting, period (my preference). I used the Spears & Munsil calibration disc set and kept it very, very simple (no White Balance adjustments, no Custom Color adjustments, no Dynamic Contrast adjustments, etc.) and have found the picture to be excellent (especially in a dark room).

Unfortantly, you will not see that price point again until February or March. The good news is that you might be able to get your tv at a better price during that time in which Samsung (and a lot of retail stores) starts clearing out there inverntory to make room for the 2015 models.

The key will be patience.

Yeah I was shocked. I was under the impression they were just open slots to do calibration on and that if all settings were equal it would look the same. There is clearly something done internally for Cal-Night to have a deeper black level though. The detail in earth popped so much more as did the brightness of the stars. I didn't have time to calibrate with Calman and my i1Display Pro last night but will when I get home tonight. I'm updating firmware too since 2123 is out and will double check the difference again.

Update: Just updated firmware to 2123 and the difference is still there. Looks like everyone should unlock these modes to get the most out of their TV.

No one was seeing a flicker in smart apps?

Was nobody seeing this kind of flicker sprout up when using smart apps (Amazon prime/HBO Go) Would seem to be variable between 30 seconds to 15minutes. I was about to exchange the TV for a new one tonight, but I'm curious if the 2123 update fixes this issue. I haven't seen anyone else mention they've had it, but basically 1 frame would flicker then go back to playing normally. Happens ONLY in Smart Apps, as anything I connect to it works fine. Been through Samsung support and all kinds of things as far as testing/settings go.

Example attached.

Update: Took back my TS01 panel for a US02 Panel...The smart apps flicker is on both sets. It takes about an hour of viewing (prime/hbo go) before it starts flickering more often though.

Ok i boight un65h7150 on black friday and im having problem with smarthub for some reason i cant connect and it says on the step 3 of procedure is please contact samsung call center for assistance message code:0 i was using the firmware 2122 and i tried updating to 2123 and i still cannot connect. Though i am connected to internet. Could this be on my router? It says on my tv that im connected. I tried calling samsung and they said theyll call me back once they found the solution. Until now they havent call me back yet. As far as picture its good besides the flashlighting in the corners and the black crush. The flash lighting is fixable with brightness set to 34 and the backlight to 7 but the black crush is the one im having problem with. Can anyone post a good calibration setting here with the black crush being fix that would be nice. And the fix for the smarthub.

I just hooked up the new 65H7150 last night, i use roku 3 for streaming and have no intention of using the tv for anything web-related. if i never connect the internet to the tv and never do an update, is that ok?

Anyone know how many different panel models are on the UN65H7150AFXZA? I picked mine up from BestBuy this weekend and I've been a few issues updating the settings. For one, I am unable to change the Cinema Black setting on any mode (it's greyed out to off). I'm not sure if this is because I'm using the TV for streaming and this is setting is only available with an HDMI connection or.

Sorry for the many errors in that post. I did not realize how bad it was. The key information for my current setup is:
Updated the software during first boot. (Unfortunately, I didn't check the forum's before turning it on, which looks like a mistake)
Currently using the TV for streaming content from the smart apps Netflix and HBO Go (not using HDMI)

Does anyone have a good set of settings for use when streaming content from the smart apps as some of the features are disabled when not using HDMI (Samsung told me that Cinema Black is disabled unless using an HDMI source to answer my own question)?

Or, is the better option to get a separate streaming device connected through HDMI in order to have all of the picture settings available?

Would you guys avoid updating right now? I'm picking up mine on Friday and do not want any issues. So keep the factory software version #1 is ok? How is the picture quality on the original software version?

Starting to be a little concerned about my purchase are all Hdtvs this finicky? Maybe Sony would have been better?

Software updates do not affect the picture quality, although many wish they would. They should not change any of your current picture settings either. I would say that I've never heard anyone say it made anything better, but a lot say it made something worse. I've only done one in over 2 years and I had to do that to install the Evo Kit to make my 2012 ES8000 the equivalent of a 2013 F8000. Do your new Samsung TVs have a slot for the Evokit chipset upgrade?

How to disable auto update on initial start-up?

Hi all.....apologies if this question has been answered but I could not find it.

I'm getting my new un65h7150 next week. If I wanted to disable the auto update feature
how can I do so when turning on the set for the very first time?

Also, am I better off configuring the menu's settings before I connect to my internet?
I'm assuming the set updates automatically via the wi-fi connection.

Thanks!
