I think there is only 900A for 2013. I believe 950B is a newer model for 2014 with FALD.

There is no X950A

You might wanna call the XBR HX950 A (In that case i would choose the X950B).

Let us hope that the 950B does not have the banding issues that the previous model had.

Yes, and it's good to see that it uses the superior Full Array Local Dimming instead of Edge Lighting. I'm looking to buy a 4K set in the next 6 months or so and have been scouring reviews lately. The Sony X950B series seems to have everything I'm looking for (except better pricing!) like HEVC decoding, HDMI 2.0 for 60 fps 4K, and an expanded color gamut (though nowhere near rec.2020). The Hdmi 2.0 is really important to me as I've never liked the juddery blurry 24 fps presentations. To my chagrin, I was more than a little shocked that the horizontal resolution is NOT maintained at 60 Hz. You still get the 2160 horizontal lines but the 3840 vertical lines are cut to something substantially less. I really really hope this can be remedied by a firmware update or a newer version. For this reason along, I will reluctantly cross this model off my list until I find that it has been fixed, if that's possible.
You can read about it here in this comprehensive review: http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/xbr65...57.htm#picture
Also, not real happy that there is no Advanced Picture Setting available, only a basic RGB 2 step adjustment plus, of course, tint and color.

I'm guessing he means 900B vs 950B, in which case I would say 950B is better, most notably full array LD, but probably not worth the price difference unless you don't care about money.

I've had the 900a and the 950b and besides the x900a having passive 3d the 950 is much better! Black levels and contrast are so much better and it's way brighter if you have a bright room it will help.
