how to run seiki SE55UY04 at 120hz with ati card

Hi I have a seiki SE55UY04 4k 120hz set. My gfx drivers dont even see this as a 120 hz monitor. I have a 7970 OC gfx card and am using HDMI. Anyone else having this issue? Anyone else NOT having this issue?

It's only 30hz input at 4k res and up to 60hz at 1080p.

modified inf file covers most people

Personally I only care to switch between [email protected] and [email protected] as that covers all my use cases: surfing/regular programs, video and games...

For lazy people like me, here is the least effort method: get the custom inf and update the "generic pnp monitor" to that. Got this link from one of the regulars on the hardforum that was an early adopter of these screens: http://box.houkouonchi.jp/seiki_cust..._120_240hz.inf (download with "save as")

It is unsigned so for windows 8 you will have to reboot to allow unsigned drivers to be installed, can boot back to normal afterwards. I believe win7 will let you do it just with admin rights, but I wouldn't know anymore since I only tolerate windows for game support, every other box is linux now.
FWIW an inf by itself is just a text configuration file so there is no real security risk, you can read it to be sure nothing weird is happening.

Works for me with Catalyst 14.4 (current WHQL release) Win 8.1, w/Asus 7970 that has no hdmi ports so using the accel active DP-->HDMI 1.4 dongle

When I stopped caring about super quiet: E5 1680v2 @ 4.5Ghz, 980ti, i750 SSD - JS9500 & Dell P2715Q for dual [email protected] because reasons
SAN shares over 56Gb infiniband, microcenter + fleabay = severe risks to my wallet

umm so how do I get this file to work? Ok nevermind. I had to go under device manager and then unplug my other generic PnP monitor to sort it out and update from there. It didnt allow me to do it under "display" in control panel. Thanks!
