OK I wont mention it gain until I compare the 2015 Sony x850C to my 2013 Sony (that murders the same 2014 model even at rtings.com) and ofc the Sammy PDP and maybe my 2013 LG

Sony sony sony.

Back to SONY Discussion. Besides the X910C not being back lit and FALD, what other differences are there between it and the 940C?

I cant say but different (panel ,processer + HDR (soon) + FALD ) and back light vs edge light (different panel, processer - HDR - FALD) *usually * equals a significantly different set on any planet I ever been on think Corvette vs Malibu and it shouldn't be hard to visualize comprehend'e amigo ?

X940C
Direct Lit
Local Dimming
VA Panel
HDR Support
X-tended Dynamic Range Pro
Speakers
Active 3D

X910C
Edge Lit
No local dimming
IPS Panel(Probably)
No HDR
No X-Tended Dynamic Range
Super thin
Passive 3D

At the end of the day these are radically different TVs. The 900C/910C TVs are the two we know the least about at this point.

Being a long time Sony customer (and fanboi) I wanted the 2014 60W850B and 55X850B to be better than the Sony I have but : ... other than 4K on the x850B they weren't even close to being better in fact less contrast and black levels ( simply put my 2013 Sony has a better Samsung Panel ) in those respects than the 60W850B and 55x850B. AUO and LGD panels albiet its only a 50" :

In fact My 2013 Sony murders the Vizio P and new 4K Viz M in the dark at rtings .com and the M in bright room and otherwise doesn't leave anything on the table to Viz P 1080p wise ...............and then (of course) ..... there is the usual superlative Sony color also !
*and the fact I would never buy a Viz anyway *and the Samsung LCD's in the x850C range ain't all that but not terrible (except for bad panels) and I'm Sony on LCD anyway and all 3 of my past Sony's were bulletproof and this one's looking that way ! ☺☺

4K/3D is no issue 4 me (for now) .......... OTOH I 'm hoping Sony steps up their game on the 55x850C I want to check it out..maybe Saturday
(in case I might want one) and ofc drool in front of the X940C and *maybe the X930C I'm to cheap 2 buy ☻☻...... I wanted the other 2 to be better and score a DD/ EOL discount [that was the plan] but they weren't ) so now it's a wait and see game

OTOH I guess I shouldn't complain about the 2013 Sony here *being as good as it is either * since I'm to cheap to buy an x940C or X930C

Sent from my Windows 10 computer .............. no really it's running Windows 10 beta aka Windows 10 Pro Insider Evaluation Copy Build 10074 ☻

Watched some Guardians of the Galaxy on a 2014 X850B and 2015 X850C right next to each other. Didn't notice much difference other than the 2015 colors were more accurate out of the box.

So is that a good or a bad thing that they weren't much different?

Guys, I am just wondering what are the differences between 950B and 940C? Is 940C 10 bit panel or 8 as 950B?

Cool! thanks for the heads up I like those guys and they liked my 2013 Sony and were pretty much bulls eye spot on wiht their review and actually steered my purchase decision that way some even though I had on on my short list already . I'm going to check out the 55x850C SAT and drool in front of the X940C and *maybe x930C I hope it's better than my 2013 like the 55x850B was not

Thanks. On another note, I just went and viewed the 65X850C vs. the 65JU7100 and although they had different content, I was pretty happy with the picture of the 65X850C. It was sitting next to a 65X900B which had more pop to it than the 850C, but the 850C was close when in Cinema Home mode vs. standard mode on the 900B with the same 4K content.

They had the 65X930C as well, but I honestly didn't spend a whole lot of time on it, as I am leaning towards sticking with the 75" size and if I move down to 65", I start to get into SU9500 territory, which will make the decision even harder.

However, they did have a 79X900B which they could do for around $5400 before tax. Would you do that over the 75X850C? Does it have HDMI 2.0?

Yes to HDMI 2.0. I would pick the 79X900B over the X850C due to 850C being direct lit, frame dimming.

4K did a recent review of the 79X900B.
