I tried Archon's cal day settings and it looks good however it seems to have an overall very slight yellowish hue. This is especially noticeable with white backgrounds and text. The settings state to have the Color Tone set to Warm2 however when I change it to Standard the yellowish hue goes away and whites appear to be pure white. I hate to ask this seeing as how many hours have been put in to these calibrations with professional equipment but . . are you sure the Color Tone should be set to Warm2 or are my eyes deceiving me?

2. What is the point of Cal Day and Cal Night settings? I'm assuming it's for custom color profiles for the daytime and the nighttime. However if my TV is in a dark windowless basement would there be any advantages/benefits for me to unlock theses settings over just using "Movie" for my custom settings?

I posted about the Movie setting several pages back. For whatever reason using the Movie setting and Archon X settings produces more of the orange/yellow tinge than using the Day Cal/Night Cal settings.
Beyond that, generally I am seeing very good whites and excellent facial colorings. Outdoor scenes I would call outstanding, indoor/scripted can at times have a very slight orange hue, other times not really. I'm watching "Sunday Morning" as I post this and using a critical eye, it looks great, colors literally outstandingly good.

You may like the Cnet settings better, they are less warm and to me better than the rtings settings, but you may need to increase backlight a little. There is never any orange or yellow cast, but colors are not as rich as the Archon X settings.

Long (and great) thread ; sorry if this has been asked before but looking for the some links to point me to the:

-Archon X settings
-Day Cal/Night Cal settings
-Cnet settings
-Others suggested settings??

Getting my 60JU7100 delivered in a week or so, and just wanted to have these suggested settings handy.

This is for our den, non-gaming use. mainly nighttime viewing with indirect floor-lamp lighting.

In my signature you can find how to unlock the cal day/night settings. In ArchonX's signature you can find his settings.

Well that is interesting. I turned off HDMI UHD Color and and tested it via the 4k Fire TV Netflix app it made no difference. The Netflix test pattern videos still show 10 bit color.

You sure you weren't watching an episode of The Twilight Zone or Outer Limits?

I even tried switching source inputs back and forth to make sure but it still kept showing 10bpc so no clue what that is all about. If HDMI UHD color setting isn't for this I'm not sure what it is for.

This is true. The full size One Connect Box has the processor and all connections except power for the set, while the Once Connect Mini is really only a port extender. I've never seen the OCB cable, but my guess is it has more connections than the OC Mini, and therefore not interchangeable. I don't recall any expansion port of the back of the set for future upgrades, and since it's wall mounted I can't look.

Many thanks.

To keep my sanity, I started to pull together some JU7100 related ready reference links here : http://4k.mediamanhost.com/ Work in progress.

If there are other links of benefit to the user community, I'd be happy to add them.

The strong yellow tinge on my 55JU7100 with the TS01 panel was eliminated by changing the Warm 2 setting to Warm 1.

I'm using ArchonX's cal day settings on both my 75" TS01 and 65" IH02 and when testing with the Netflix "Test Patterns" videos the colors (including white) look fine to me. I did unlock the Cal Day/Night settings in the service menu on both TVs (if for some reason using these settings in Movie mode is what is causing it).

I've only noticed the yellow tint when viewing a black and white show from the side. When viewing directly (within reason) from the front, I don't notice it, and also don't notice it with a color show, even from an angle. I'll have to see if warm 1 removes it.

Where can I find the "cnet settings"? I found the review here http://www.cnet.com/products/samsung-unju7100-series/2/, but didn't see a set of settings.

I have been blessed (?) with an AS02 panel in my UN55JU7100, from AU Optronics. No issues with it thus far, but I am sure that the panel differs enough to invalidate the @ArchonX calibration recommendations. Is anyone aware of a calibration done for the AU Optronics panels in the JU7100? I don't have the equipment required to do the calibrations myself (I wish!).

Actually, his settings seem to be reasonable across all panels. Perhaps not reaching the 10/10th level on the non-Samsung panels, but still worth the effort.

His settings are about as close as having an in home calibration for any of the panels even if not quite as exact.

Right in your link is a big Click here for calibration settings....

http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussio...14376811998163
I find the overall color good, for me not as good as Achron X but if his are too warm for some these will not be. Picture is too dark for me in the Cnet settings and I changed the backlight to 8 or 9.

I tried Achron X settings with Warm1 but it throws off the colors too much for me to the cool side and though just a little too warm for me his settings at Warm2 look the best especially if you give it time. If I wasn't using his I would use the Cnet settings which I have loaded in the Cal Night mode.

In reading through this thread it seems to be the general consensus that this TV has a 10-bit panel. I ran the 10-bit test slide from the TV's Netflix app and my IH02 panel is only showing 8 bpc. Curious if I'm not doing something correctly or if I just have a crappy panel?

ArchonX, settings help

ArchonX, thanks for all your hard work in helping us with making our TVs look great.

I have a ? for you or anyone that can help!

I have put in all your setting in my tv, exactly like you posted and even double checked to make sure they were right.

And the colors look great except for dark colors, like dark black, dark green....
When dark colors come on the screen, I see little squares dancing around in the dark colors. Could you help me get rid of the dancing squares.

I know you said not to not change any of your settings or it will through all of the other settings off.

ArchonX Im using your latest settings.

Thanks for your help

Are you using the Netflix test videos called "Test Patterns"? If so, it does sound like your panel is 8 bpc. On my TV I see 10 pbc, while using my Roku or computer the same videos show 8 bpc. My panel is a Samsung version.

Ya the test patterns. It doesn't matter if I use the TV Netflix App or my Fire TV, they both show 8 bpc. Well that sucks. I have until January 15 to return the TV to BB so now I guess I have a decision to make....stupid Samsung and their panel lottery.

That seems very weird if so. I have a 65" IH02 panel that says 10 bpc.

The service menu shows the TV Code as 65D1UU7VJ.

There isn't a setting on the TV I'm missing? I can't think of anything that would impact it since the Netflix app is running directly on the TV and not over HDMI.

I noticed this as well, but I only see it with dark images/scenes in backgrounds. For example, if someone is wearing a black jacket, it will look fine, but if the scene is dark, I can see some of the little squares (there is probably a term for it).

When my new 60JU7100 arrives, what is the easiest way to tell what panel I have ( ie TSxx. IHxx, etc)?

Is this something I can determine from the shipping label? back of the set? setup menu? service menu?

It will be both on the back of the set as well as a sticker on the box. Can't quote exactly what and where, as I haven't looked at mine in quite a while.

Many thanks. I suppose I get what I get, but is there a quick comparison of the pros/cons/specs of a specific panel? I gather I should expect a non-Samsung panel?

It seems that there has been a wide variety of differences between panels of even the same supplier. I don't think there's any one firm position that this panel has issues and that panel is problem-free. Some report issues with one panel, while others say theirs is fine.

My free advice (worth what you paid ) is see how it looks after you set it up, and depending on your permitted return timeframe, give it a week or two to get "burned in". Mine personally looked good out of the box and has continued to be fine, but others have reported initial screen cloudiness that could be massaged out of the screen.

Right thats what I see!

Please....if anyone knows how to fix this let us know!

Thanks
