Interesting. I didn't know that, thanks. The only thing I'm worried about is the panel lottery with hu8550 and high input lag of hu9000 on the 65" for gaming.

the 65inch js8500 will reportedly start out at 3999, how knows how long til it comes down in price, and right now the JS8500 isnt listed on the samsung website or anywhere else, so for some reason it might not be released at the same time as the others. and its being reported on foreign websites that have more information, that the JS8500 wont have HDR like the 9000 and 9500, something to consider. but just a quick FYI, the 65inch HU9000 is down to 3499 right now, if you buy it from samsung.com it comes with the UHD video pack AND a free 32inch led tv.

For whatever it is worth. This is my chat last evening:
Chat Transcript
info: Please wait for a Samsung Agent to respond.
info: You are now chatting with 'Michelle'. There will be a brief survey at the end of our chat to share feedback on my performance today.

Michelle: Hi, thanks for reaching out to Samsung pre-sales support. We appreciate your interest in Samsung products. How may I assist you today?
Visitor: Does the ju7100 come with pur color, tizen engine and mini connect?
Michelle: Hello, could you give me a few minutes while I gather the information for you?
Visitor: sure
Michelle: Thank you for your patience. The JU7100 does come with PurColor and One Connect Mini.
Michelle: Just one moment as I verify your question regarding Tizen.
Michelle: Just one more more moment, please. I see our SUHD does have Tizen but I want to double check on the JU series.
Michelle: Thank you for holding. Yes, all of our 2015 models have Tizen.
Visitor: Does this model come with 3D glasses?
Michelle: No, this model doesn't include the glasses.
Visitor: Does it have 10-bit color lcd panels?
Michelle: Just one moment as I double check.
Michelle: Thank you for holding. JU7100 has a 10 bit panel.
Visitor: Does it have 240 refresh rate and NANO CRYSTAL COLOR
Michelle: Yes, the refresh rate is listed as Motion Rate and is 240Hz and has Nano Crystal Color.
Visitor: Are there any other important specs?
Michelle: No, there aren't any other main specs to look for.
Michelle: Were you able to click to view the full specifications on the site?
Visitor: They leave some of the details out. When will they shp?
Michelle: I was just curious if you got to see the specs that are listed. The TV will ship between 10-14 business days from when you place the order.
Visitor: The specs do not say nano crystal color. That is why I asked you
Michelle: I understand. Are there any other questions I can answer for you?
Visitor: Are you sure about nano crystal color?
Michelle: Yes, I was able to verify the Nano Crystal Color.
Visitor: Thank you
Michelle: You are welcome, is there anything else I can assist you with?
Visitor: Is the quad core engine a new engine?
Visitor: Opps quad core processor?
Michelle: This TV has a Quad Core processor, as many of our 2014 models do as well. I'm not sure what you mean by a "new engine".
Visitor: I meant is the quad core processor new or the same as the 2014 models?
Michelle: Some of our 2015 models have the Octa Core.
Michelle: No, the Quad Core is the same as the one in the 2014 models.
Visitor: I don't think the 7100 has Octa core
Michelle: No, the JS9500 and JS9000 TVs have the Octa Core.
Visitor: Thank you very much
Michelle: You're welcome. Have a wonderful week. Thanks for chatting with Samsung Support. If you have a minute, please click on the blue “X close” button to receive the transcript of your chat and fill out a brief survey to help us serve you better.

Sharp panels. But all the 60 inch owners are happy with their sets. On paper the 7100 looks better but won't know for a few weeks. Remember while the 8550 is cheaper, it'll need an upgrade box in may so add 500 to that price. I'd probably wait and see..

Ok I see , why would they need an upgrade box what is Samsung bringing to the table, is it basically for the OS or something else?

I found this out yesterday:
Visitor: Does it have 10-bit color lcd panels?
Michelle: Just one moment as I double check.
Michelle: Thank you for holding. JU7100 has a 10 bit panel.
Visitor: Does it have 240 refresh rate and NANO CRYSTAL COLOR

Visitor: Are you sure about nano crystal color?
Michelle: Yes, I was able to verify the Nano Crystal Color.
I found this out today:

How may I assist you today?
Visitor: Does the JU7100 have HDMI 2.0?
Tanya: Yes, the JU7100 series TV has four HDMI 2.0 inputs.
Visitor: What does the one connect mini do?
Tanya: The One Connect Mini helps to declutter the cords and inputs to your TV with the ports.
Visitor: Is this set upgradable in the future?
Tanya: Yes, this TV is Evolution Ready so you can upgrade in the future.
Visitor: Are the future upgrades via the internet?
Tanya: Depending on the type of upgrade that becomes available, you'll be able to update the OS from the screen via the Internet.

All good information, I tried to ask some Samsung reps when we might see the JU7100 series on showroom floors with not much luck.

Looks like the 60 inch JU7100 is in my sights since LG has completely messed up their OLED HDTV's this year. Looking forward to more info on these.

The 65 will start out at 3999, there is no 60 inch at all in Samsung's JS lineup this year. The 55 is probably around 3k I think.

And we were wrong the 7100 does NOT have quantum dots.

Thanks, I need to stay in the 55-60 range 65 is to big for where the TV will go.

Hmm so it's the JS8500 55 inch VS 60 inch 7100

$3K is way at the top end of what I want to spend how much better is the JS8500?

I don't think we were wrong , Samsung's website was initial showing incorrect information, I'm not to worried about this since the TV that is being replaced is a DLP LED rear projection set that has lasted me 8 years so anything is going to look good.

Quantum dots for better colors, peak illuminator pro for increased brightness of certain images (for example the moon, the sun, a fire, anything that could be brighter will have more pop), SUHD remastering picture engine, rumored octacore processor compared to quad core in the 7000 series. Biggest differences right there.

Interesting I'll keep an eye on both and see how they pan out in the wild first. Since I'm skipping OLED I think quantum dot may be worthwhile.

Its been confirmed by people close to the situation that only the js series will have quantum dots. But even with that your right that any decent tv will be an upgrade over your DLP so you should be excited

Looks like a matter weeks. There's a few posters on here that are reporting that local best buys have received the JS9000 and JS9500 for store demos and are being set up in stores

Neat. I'm not buying anything till the Fall so should be enough time for some price drops and alot of user feedback.

In comparison the LG OLEDS are going to be around $5K for the 55 inch version, may or may not be released till the fall and we still do not have full confirmation of the spec's of all the ports or full panel info. What a mess the OLED releases have been.

Been reading all of the posts regarding the JU7100 for weeks. Like some of you I was going to get the 65" HU8550 but then when I began reading the specs of the new Samsungs coming out I figured a few hundred more and a better TV. We already have a decent Pioneer Elite in our family room - we just added a room to our house and making it an office/theater room. I would love to get the new JU8500 but it will probably be (at least initially) $1,500 more than the JU7100. I doubt with my eyes I'll see that much of a difference between the two (even if I saw a major difference I don't want to spend $4K (or more) on a TV (and I definitely want 65"). So yesterday I ordered the JU7100 from Crutchfield - they said it would be in stock around March 15 - my thought process was that they guarantee matching a lower price over the first 60 days - plus they are very easy to return items should the TV not be any good (which I seriously doubt). So as long as the JU7100 is better than the HU8550 then I'll be happy.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone happen to know if the 40" version of Samsung's JU7100 4k tv will also have a 10-bit panel?

I just place an order for one (JU7100) today with Crutchfield..going with the 55inch. I will be replacing a Panasonic TCP42G10 Plasma TV. Need something a little bigger for the room I use to watch TV. The Panasonic is wonderful but a bit smallish. Anyone in the DC area wanting one of the last reasonably good plasmas (model year 2009) produced by Panasonic, let me know.

My local best buy has no 2015 models yet and no info. I am
looking at a 65h7150 model. Is the new ju7100 the replacement for the 7150 and is it worth the extra $1000?
I spend a lot of time watching but $3000 for a tv is wow.

According to a best buy employee here the 7,000 series is 8 bit

I spend a lot of time watching but $3000 for a tv is wow.
I agree my budget was originally 2500 but after trying a couple a realized I was gonna have to pony up to get the tv I wanted. And yes I do believe the JU7100 will be very much worth the extra grand.

From everything I have read (including conversations members have had with Samsung reps) - the JU7100 counterpart would be the 2014 8550 - and those prices are only a few hundred difference.

The 7100 and the 7500 have 10 bit panels (read prior conversations that were posted on this site)
