What are you using to get to the advanced service menu?

I am using my Smart TV RC App with my Samsung Note 4 to get into the service menu. Press Mute, 1,8,2 and Enter.. etc.

UPDATE

I just noticed that INFO and FACTORY are different menu options than the ones I provided! LOL I thought it was the same way to get into the SM..

I finally just did the MOD. (Got the SUHD Logo in the opening) lol

So, I guess a better question is now how do I update the Amazon TV app to receive 4K HDR content? I noticed it is the same app as before where it doesn't display any 4K movies, and the TV says there is a new update available (1462) but I assume I won't download any official FW now that I have "modded" it.

Suggestions? Thanks!

Thank you... I'm really curious to see which differences between each modes and also if the "cinema black" option on JS Mod can improve the PQ...

I just need to wait the SM control delivery and then try it on my 40 inch JU7000 and also I hope with this remote control will be possible to do it...

My firmware version 1460.4

Thank you...

FW 1463 now being announced by some Members. My SEks finally upgraded to the 1461.1 today, (a biggie!) whereas my JU7100 still saying no change from 1460.4

By the way, a new HDR Samsung Quantum Dot HDR Demo now available. Looks good on all 3 of my sets! (None of which, have quantum dots!)

I did my latest update to 1461 while the JS Mod was in place. Shouldn't be an issue.

UPDATE

Don't know what happened.. Maybe a glitch? Now, it seems the update is gone. LOL

Earlier it said the latest update was 1462 and I was on 1461. Really Strange..

Anyhow, can you please help me with Amazon App? I can't find any of the Ultra Titles. I easily see them with the Samsung 4K Player. Is there someone else I have to do in the Service Menu? Thanks!

Amazon hides the HDR label real well. For example, Red Oaks is 4K HDR, but the only place the HDR label appears is looking at the information for an episode. Any higher level in the menu structure and it's not there. I haven't seen how Netflix displays HDR content yet.

Right. NETFLIX HDR titles pop up as HDR U4K on the top when detected. Amazon titles also say HDR in the bottom..

am just trying to figure out how to enable it with the mod.

With the JS Mod, Amazon HDR is automatic. There's nothing to enable.

True... But I cannot find any 4K content .... Even Red Oaks plays in regular HD.

My Samsung player amazon app has a separate section for Ultra movies .. And when you play them , it says Ultra HDR on the bottom ...

The Amazon TV app just shows the regular version on the TV..

Anyone ?

True, on the Samsung it's in a separate section as well. I'm almost 3000 miles from home right now, but I'll be back tomorrow. I'll try to look at it if I remember. It's going to be a long day

So I found this really cool article discussing HDR, maybe some here have read it but I figured I would post it here anyways. I find it to be the most informative HDR article I have come across yet with great screenshots of side-by-side HDR on/off stills.

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/4k-vs-201604104279.htm

What I have learned from this article (along with some people discussing HDR Forza Horizon 3 on Xbox One S) is that HDR actually provides a generally darker viewing experience and in some cases (Forza) a less colorful picture. This isn't a bad thing mind you - HDR is meant to be more realistic. Judging by the photos in the above article, I would say HDR does a great job of that. I (and maybe others) was always under the impression that the purpose of HDR was to really make things "pop" - which it still is, but not in the way I had imagined. I kind of always envisioned a "torch mode" picture that somehow looked great.

But as it relates to the JU7100, this actually makes me feel a lot better about its ability to handle HDR. I dont think the JU7100 will have much trouble matching the peak brightness HDR demands even though its not near 1000 nits. And since the colors being displayed by HDR seem to have less "pop" in some cases, I think the JU7100 will be able to handle this adequately as well. Sure it may not be KS9000 good, but I think it will closer than maybe we all originally anticipated.

There is a separate section on the Samsung TV app also for HDR. And when you open the episode to see more info it will say HDR there and nowhere else. You will know it's HDR because it changes your settings. If you pay attention to the spinning circle when you start a movie, if it's HDR the circle gets a little brighter before the movie starts.

Wow, thanks for the link that looked AMAZING. I could only download the second one because the file to the first one is no longer available. After seeing that, I am 100% convinced this tv can handle HDR very well. In fact, that looked as good as anything I have seen in stores at Best Buy. I'm sure the KS series is improved, but I doubt its anything really noticeable.

As it relates to the article, maybe they are talking about some UHD movies where the HDR is encoded to be darker but more realistic? I really don't know to be honest. I do know they also were talking about having a lot of ambient light in a room might make HDR less effective since the you cant push the back light any higher. But yeah, wow that was impressive!

So far I love how hdr Looks on these sets from my himedia q10pro player.
Except for some reason xbox one s.
Watched uhd Martian, and colors on skin tones looked dull, and overall image was dark..
Totally opposite I see from himedia hdr clips I tried..

Does this tv adapt to the different hdr modes it receives from sources?
Or is it set to one preset for all hdr?

Maybe xbox is sending wrong hdr preset command(gamma mode) to tv?

Have you calibrated or tried settings from other users for the HDMI port you have the Xbox One S connected to?

Do you have UHD Color turned On for that HDMI port?

Do you have controls for changing brightness, contrast, color, etc. on the himedia player? If so, they may be adding to the picture to your liking where the Xbox isn't because it doesn't have picture controls?

Are the Display settings properly set up on Xbox? Make sure it is reading 10-bit color and HDR is enabled. Also ensure that your UHD True Color is on from the Samsung TV with the HDMI for the Xbox One.

Thanks for tips...

Answer to all questions is, yep, had all those settings on as suggested.

When hdr does kick in, the contrast and back light goto max settings showing thst HDR is active .

As for himedia, when HDR is active, it turns off enhancements. Wont let me turn them on or adjust...

Just very interesting non the less.

Thanks again

Answer to all questions is, yep, had all those settings on as suggested.

When hdr does kick in, the contrast and back light goto max settings showing thst HDR is active .

As for himedia, when HDR is active, it turns off enhancements. Wont let me turn them on or adjust...

Just very interesting non the less.

Thanks again

Do you have the latest update on Xbox? Try to Brute Force the update. I had a problem like this not too recent. Is your Xbox Display detecting everything as compatible? Such as 4K? HDR? 10-Bit Panel? etc

Totally opposite I see from himedia hdr clips I tried..

Does this tv adapt to the different hdr modes it receives from sources?
Or is it set to one preset for all hdr?

Maybe xbox is sending wrong hdr preset command(gamma mode) to tv?

I'm having the same problem. Streaming anything HDR 4K through the XIS looks awful. I still stream through the tv because of this. UHD generally looks pretty good to me though.
