3D picture settings for JU7100

I have the UN75JU7100 with the US02 panel. I'm using wildgator25's calibration values and they appear to work very well.

For 3D usage, what picture settings are people using?
When in 3D mode should I try to make them the same as the "normal" picture settings?

Thanks for the info.

Could you post or link to wildgator25's settings?

I've noticed the TV makes its own adjustments when you enter 3D (i.e. backlight to 20 and contrast to 100, like HDR does).
Also, I think I saw in one of your posts that you were using Dynamic picture mode for 3D. Is that true?
And what other settings would you suggest for 3D mode?

Thanks for the info.

It's been forever since I've fiddled about with 3D. I normally just leave my settings as is and let 3D do it's own thing. But, I do recall what you are saying about Dynamic mode for 3D. It's been a while since I posted that though.

Needless to say, 3D hasn't been much focus for me. I don't really care for how 3D looks on Bluray so I normally just watch 2D.

Sorry I can't be of any help with 3D.

3D calibration is such a PITB, that most users just install their 2D settings into the 3D, and most are quite happy with it. Then adjust to taste.

Using the built-in Youtube app, can someone point me to a video that will demonstrate how the JU7100 plays HDR content? Thanks

The built-in YouTube app does not support hdr on this tv. I use chromecast ultra for this and it looks great.

I had the chance to play with a LG B6 OLED last night for a few hours in a dark room (with Rtings settings)

While impressive, I was not blown away by the difference from it to the JU7100. To me, it would not be worth the price difference without dropping even more cash for a calibration.

Granted, I did not have a way to see Dolby Vision in action, so it could extend the gap there as well.

The Chess HDR demo was where you could really see the potential of the set. It was absolutely striking, and I am sure if it was properly calibrated, it would be jaw dropping.

It is owned by a friend from church, so I will get to tinker with it periodically in the future.

I definitely had fun, and I am interested to see it with a UHD bluray player in the chain. Maybe I will take my K8500 over there next time.

No, not at this time unfortunately.

The VP9 profile 2 codec is needed to play YouTube HDR (which is only available on the 2016 Samsung TVs and the Chromecast Ultra at this time).

However, other options should become available later in the year.

When I change channel to Directv channel 104 which is 4K always my 75" ju7100 say "this display does not support 4K TV" and that is is being broadcast in 1080p which it says is the best my TV can do. Not true... What am I doing wrong??

Are you going through an AVR? It might not support 4K on the ports you're using. If connected directly to the set, have you enabled UHD Color in the video menu of the TV?

The DirecTV boxes don't support 4k via HDMI directly from the Genie if that is what you are using. Now, if you have it set up as an RVU client of the Genie properly it would allow you to view 4K. I'm not sure when they are going to have a Genie that directly supports 4k over the HDMI (I haven't heard of anything yet). You could also use a 4k genie mini if you didn't want to use the built in RVU client of the Samsung.

Yes, I'm going through my Denon AVR 2200 wihich is HDCP 2.2 compliant. I went in to my picture setting and enabled the UHD color on all 4 HDMI inputs on my TV and each time the TV turned off and then when it turned back on had the same message about not being able to watch in 4K. Any other suggestions??

If I recall, the direction is to disconnect the HDMI cable before setting UHD Color, then power cycle the TV. If you didn't unplug that cable that might be it.

http://www.directv.com/technology/4k

If you look down at the bottom in the "What do I need to enjoy 4K?" section you'll see that they are referring to a 4k capable TV with RVU built in or a 4K genie mini client. Directly connected via HDMI to the Genie itself will only do 1080p max right now (no clue if that'll ever change with the HR54 or not).

Can this TV support RGB color format for HDR?

I plugged direct into the TV and get the RGB and 2K/4K but when I connect it through my AV receiver I can't get RGB/4K. I have the Yamaha V681. Is there a setting I need to enable?

Most Yamaha receivers have an advanced menu that can only be accessed during power on. In that menu there's a 4K Mode setting. by default it is on Mode 2, but for 4K 10 Bit it needs to be on Mode 1.

JU7100 and Chromecast Ultra only PCM audio

Has anyone with a JU7100 and a Chromecast Ultra plugged into the TV found a way to get Dolby Digital audio? Mine only produces PCM audio.

I have a UN75JU7100 and an Onkyo HT-680 receiver connected using HDMI ARC. I have owned a Chromecast 2 and had it connected to the Onkyo receiver and everything was fine -- audio would play Dolby Digital, DTS, etc. So I know the ARC portion is working fine.

I now bought a Chromecast Ultra and since the Onkyo receiver is old enough it does not passthrough 4K video. My only option is to plug the Chromecast Ultra directly into the TV.

While this works to give me 4K video and HDR, it fails in that the only audio I get is PCM.

I did some investigation and there definitely are audio problems with the Ultra. Here is the setup; the Chromecast 2 plugged into the receiver, the Chromecast Ultra plugged directly to the TV, and an HDMI ARC cable from the TV to the receiver.
The SmartHub part of the TV has the VUDU app. So I can play a movie from there and get Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I play the same movie through the VUDU app on my Samsung Galaxy Note4 through the Chromecast 2 and get Dolby Digital+ sound. But if I play the VUDU app from the Note4 through the Chromecast Ultra, only PCM audio.

Is there any way to get better than PCM audio with a Chromecast plugged directly into the TV?

This is what I show while playing Resident Evil 7 on the PS4 Pro with the HDMI connected to the One Connect Mini. I chose Auto for Resolution.

Does any one knows if the EU JU7000 already supports HDR in Netflix? I'm currently on firmware version 1480.

No European firmware is different, so although the version number is higher it's not supporting hdr Netflix yet.

I use my Xbox for that, annoying and frustrating to turn that thing on for 30 minutes of hdr every time.

If you go to an HDR video on YouTube, you will find info on how to get YouTube hdr and what type of equipment/tv will be required. This is how I found that chromcast can do the job. My 2016 Samsung has the option built in while my ju7100 probably will never get it as it requires some hatdware modification.
