It just downloaded. I check periodically for updates and saw this morning that 1469 had been installed.

I think we went through this a couple of months back. Several Members mentioned an update, but nothing ever came of it, and we're still on 1467.

Welp. After literally four months, 4 tech visits, TWO mainboard replacements, and finally replacing literally the entire panel, my 65 inch JU7100 has been deemed "irreparable"

The 3D image still has terrible ghosting, 3D movies are unwatchable. I've tried different movies, different cables, two different 3D bluray players, and two different models of Samsung 3D glasses, nothing helped at all. Since they replaced pretty much the entire TV, I've got two theories about the problem:

#1 - Something was messed up in the service menu when my wife got lost in there. I've checked every single setting against the photos I took before doing the JS mod, but I'd bet the TV size is set incorrectly in some deep dark recess of the ASM. I've tried changing the TV size to all sorts of crazy values on my PS4 and K8500, doesn't seem to have any affect.

#2 - The crosstalk has always been there and we just never noticed at first.

I have no idea which it is, but the result is that I've been cut a check for the original purchase price of $1700, AND they didn't ask for the JU7100 back. I'd never sell it without mentioning the 3D is borked, but the 2D image is still fantastic. That's probably still worth a couple hundred bucks to someone. That seems crazy to me that they're just writing off the original TV.

I still really want a 3D capable UHD TV, but I think I'm gonna have to try passive glasses (I still never see crosstalk at the movies) this time around. I think pretty much my only option is the LG UH8500, right?

Just rolled out 1469 here in South Florida. Everything looks the same as 1467.

My set showed the update (1469) available 3 days ago here (northern FL). I'm not an early adopter so I've been waiting to hear from folks who've installed it. My guess is that it's just a bug fix or two.

I have a question about how the 7100 reads USB flash drives. I format all of mine ExFAT. If I have a bunch of episodes of a TV series I usually put them into a folder on the drive. After I've watched them all I pop the drive into my computer and delete the entire folder. However, when I put the drive back into the 7100 the deleted folder is still there -- empty, but still there. The only way I've been able to get the set to forget that folder is to completely reformat the drive. This is a bit of an annoyance because there are a bunch of other videos on the drive that I like to watch again periodically, so I have to move all of them to my computer, reformat the drive, then put them back onto the flash drive. Anyone know why this happens and if there's a better way to deal with it?

Thanks.

Sudden JU7100 Video judder issues

So ices had a Samsung JU7100 65" tv for a year or so and have always been happy with it. It is hooked to several other A/V equipment such as a Yamaha a3050, ps4, Xbox one s, oppo 203. But suddenly, within the past month or so I've had some picture issues that have plagued me. The issue can best be explained as a judder issue or random studdering. The picture clarity is great, coloring is great but the fluidity has changed. This is true for EVERY source. Be it streaming, uhd, blu ray, DVD or cable. It's not horrible. I can still watch and enjoy. But when people walk across the screen or one person is standing and another moving, it looks horrible. And dark scenes are the worst. But the thing is, it wasn't always like this. I've always had my motion plus option set to "clear." And never touched it since. The only other thing I changed was I turned off the hdmi control from the Yamaha receiver and turned on smart led from the tv to help with the white bleeding in from the dark areas. I do believe there was a firmware update that happened within the time I started having issues. Not sure if that's a possibility. So since this issue happened I've tried a changing the hdmi port of the tv, turning on and off arc from the devices, unplugging things. Nothing seems to help. Again, it's not horrible but enough to drive me crazy. But not the wife crazy otherwise we would just buy a new tv... I'll attach a video from spears and munsil from their sample of 24p of the two triangles. It shows the stuttering. When I turn on motion plus the stuttering happens at different times and randomly. So I don't know if a frame rate issue is to blame. I know that hdmi cables don't really go bad unless there is no picture but is it possible that something has happened to the cable? Any insight would be appreciated.

Guess I can't post a video. I will also say, I did some of the interlacing samples from the spears disc, and it failed those. So maybe it is having a de-interlacing issue?

No, has nothing to do with streaming. That is called DSE, Dirty Screen Effect. You may notice some improvement by lowering the Backlight, but of course the image will be darker. This is a panel fault, not much you can do but try to adjust your settings as best you can to minimize it without sacrificing picture quality.
Smart led will help with this. Almost takes it away.

Check the root directory of the Flashstick. There's a log file that you can delete to clear up the issue, without re-formatting.

Have you gently massaged the panel for a few days?
SmartLED should always be on Standard.
Off, you have no back lighting control, leaving a gray black background.

Thanks for pointing me to the "log file". I was able to find the solution by searching on that.

Apparently when a removable drive is connected to it, the Sammy creates a hidden file on the drive:

.device_info_<- followed by a unique 32 character alpha-numeric sequence.

On my USB flash drive the full filename was:

.device_info_0bf7e1db-e0ed-45cc-8949-55b02a6413c2

This file can safely be deleted. The next time the disk is inserted the TV will create a new .device_info file that accurately lists the current contents of the drive.

It's still a mystery to me why the Sammy recognizes that files that have been deleted from the drive but not folders. I've read that this is a problem not only with the 7100 but with many Samsung SmartTVs.

Installed 1469.

For some reason I could NEVER get full internet speed into the TV wired or wireless. Browser youtube and youtube app would never get to 4k even though I have 120mb download. Fast.com always showed around 15mb internet. (yet 120mb through xbox)

Yesterday it worked great for the first time! 4k looked great! Fast.com now shows 60mb (still slower than what it should be but much better) - So they definitely changed something!

Good morning young Skywalkers. Bought this TV around July 2016 from Amazon (I listened to Wirecutter) and I'm a noob regarding HDR. If I would've known more about HDR, I would've purchased LG E6. Couple of noob questions regarding JU7100:

1. I heard that there are HDR wannabe TVs out there in which the TV simply saturates colors to create an HDR-like appearance? Is this the case with this TV? Is it real HDR?
2. If so, is this an HDR8 or HDR10 panel?
3. HDR on this tv looks good to me but I haven't really seen an actual TV with an HDR stamp of approval in action. How should I calibrate the TV to deepen the blacks and produce top notch image quality (I understand that this TV's backlight goes all the way up to max and I heard max will gray out the blacks)? I maxed dynamic contrast, smart black, hdmi black, and smart LED. Have I done diddly darn well? Or did I goof?
4. Would I still get HDR if I run a source via an AV receiver or should I connect the source directly to the TV?

There is certainly room for debate as to the JU7100 being full HDR, but in my opinion it is more than a wannabe. But it doesn't meet the hardware requirements for full fidelity HDR.

The panel reports itself as 10 bit, but I believe it uses software to make 10 bit color with an 8 bit panel.

There are several calibrations listed in this thread that work quite well with HDR display. I believe Wildgator has the most recent, but can't say for sure.

To get HDR through your AVR, it must support HDCP 2.2/HDMI 2.0. Depending on the brand, there might be additional menu settings required. My Yamaha had to be set on 4K Mode 1, instead of the default Mode 2. If you plug directly into the TV, you cannot get HD audio from Blu Ray or DLNA source. You must go through the AVR for the advanced audio codecs.
wildgator25 and King Richard like this.

JU7100 and Onkyo TX-NR656, Unknown audio

I have the UN75JU7100 and I just bought the Onkyo TX-NR656. Both have the latest firmware and they are connected using the audio return channel. The TV's audio stream is set to Bitstream and Dolby Digital. When I press the 'i' button on the Onkyo remote it cycles through the following:
Dolby Surr, UNKNOWN, unknown

Dolby Surround is what I have set for the listening mode.

Has anyone else seen this with the TX-NR656 and a JU7100?

It should show either 1080i if from my Charter cable box or perhaps 2160p if it is passed through the output of the TV. And the audio should show Dolby Digital 5.1.
It's like the TX-NR656 cannot figure out the audio format being sent to it from the ARC. Even though it does play the audio fine. It just cannot display the incoming format correctly.

I previously had an Onkyo HT-R680 (part of the HT-S6300 home theater system) and it would correctly display the audio format.

Thank you for the help.

If you're using ARC, then isn't your video source something other than the 656? I have a 636 and I use the RVU on the JU7100. So the video never reaches the 636 and it is "unknown". If you were using your 656 to feed both audio and video, you shouldn't be on the ARC channel (TV presumably). You should be on Sat or whatever else. Even if you don't have the RVU, but you have your cable/sat box connected directly to and playing directly on your JU7100, how would the 7100 know what the Video is. ARC is Audio Return Channel for exactly this situation.

Can anyone recommend a solid wall mount for the 75in at a reasonable price? Seems like the mounts are all over the place in regards to price. Fixed is good enough. Thanks in advance!

Yes you're correct about the video part. I have a Charter cable box connected to the One Connect Mini box of the JU7100. And use the Audio Return Channel to feed it's audio (or the TV's from antenna source or USB playback) to the TX-NR656.
So I agree the 656 might not "know" what the video is but it DEFINITELY should know what audio it is receiving and playing. That positively should not be reporting as "unknown".

And as I said, it displayed correctly with my 7 year old Onkyo receiver (HT-R680).

Just looked at mine - it's a slightly different setup - I'm using the optical instead of ARC. I see Dolby Surround, Dolby 5.1 and unknown. Do you have bitstream selected in the audio section of your 7100? and is Dolby digital an option there? If yes and yes, I'm stumped. I assume this is everything you try and not just one show?

You just brought up a good point. Often the Samsung will switch to PCM output, in which case that would explain what your display is showing. It has to be set to Bitstream, then Dolby Digital, or the TV will just send PCM.

As I said in the original post:

"The TV's audio stream is set to Bitstream and Dolby Digital."

And even then, if for some reason it WAS set to PCM, the receiver should display "PCM 2.0" for the audio format and not "unknown".

My point was that the TV might change settings without you realizing it. Yes, the AVR should still show PCM, as my Yamaha does.

I'm connecting a Denon 720w with an Nvidia Shield to my JU7100. It's a long HDMI cable and not capable of supporting the option to turn UHD on in settings, which I understand is necessary for HDR. I get a great 4K picture. When I put a show like Daredevil, I notice a shift in color. The logo becomes bright, almost as if there's an HDR effect being generated by the TV. Any thoughts as to what's happening here?

Does anyone know if there is a One Connect to One Connect Mini adapter available? Long story, but in a nutshell I got this TV as a gift last year, it was a display unit, so an employee had to go find a One Connect box. Up until yesterday I only used the bike in streaming apps, went to connect my Xbox last night only to discover I need a One Connect Mini.

The problem being I don't have a receipt (nor do the people who got the set for me) so I am guessing my chances of swapping the One Connect for a Mini in store are between slim and none. If it comes down to it I will sell the one I have and but a Mini, just wanted to see if an adapter was available first.

Also, assuming I want to run audio through a receiver, I plug my sources into inputs 1-3 on the connect box, ARC to the receiver and simply switch sources on the TV instead of the receiver like I currently would?

Thanks.

The One Connect and One Connect Mini are two different boxes. The mini only contains connections, while the full size One Connect actually performs processing and is upgrade-able. They are not interchangeable, even if you found such an adapter.

Thanks, while I did not know the full size also handles processing, I did figure there was no way to use it. Will hope I can swap for a mini!

Can anyone let me know the part number for a mini? Looking on eBay I see several listed as mini, but looking closely they have the larger cable that does not fit the mini.
