So my 65" JU7100 accepted the Apple TV 4K HDR signal, however the TV dims significantly even with the backlight turned all the way up and I see more banding. Dimmer picture with banding is not so pretty. The 4K SDR picture looks much better to me. Has anyone else had experience with Apple TV 4K HDR on this TV?

I read that the new ATV is in 4K HDR mode at all times, even with material that isn't HDR. That might account for what you are seeing. See this post: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/39-net...l#post54842858

Due to no discreet codes for HDMI4 I have to run a Harmony macro that changes the TV to HDMI3 then HDMI4. The TV takes so long that quite often the process fails because the menus won't load quickly enough. It just gets stuck on HDMI3 and the activity will complete without it getting to HDMI4. I've added huge delays to the activity but it always hangs for different amount of times.

Anyway, if anyone could help that would be appreciated.
I would suggest two different things. Making sure the fast boot up isn't disabled in the eco menu. Second I would program the harmony to simply power on the target source first before anything else that way the HDMI-CEC (aka Anynet+) can auto turn on the TV on the correct input.

Quick questions to friends here:
I have the un75ju7100.
Is there a chance samsung will provide some more smart apps?
I am keen on CNNGO.
OR do you think Samsung may provide a better OS like the 2016/2017 models?

Any word on what this update includes or addresses?

I would really appreciate the ability to stream my UHD content from VUDU.

I'm not sure that's an option as I use the native Netflix app.

I've also noticed the TV guide is extremely slow to populate. It will also only do one screen at a time. If I scroll below the fold I have to wait for all the listings to show before I can move any further, i'm not sure if it's related.

Unhappy Issue with ARC and Denon receiver

Hi,

So I’ve got an issue I’ve been facing for a while, and frankly, I’ve been too lazy to address it, but I’m pulling my stereo cabinet away from the wall tomorrow to re-wire, so now’s the best chance to fix this.

I own a Denon AVR-2112ci, and a Samsung UN60JU7100 TV. They are connected via HDMI from the “HDMI In 4 (ARC)” input on the TV’s “One Connect Mini” box to the “Monitor Out” output on the Receiver.

The Receiver is from 2012, TV is from 2015. Receiver supports HDMI 1.4a, not sure if firmware updates have changed that since.

My issue is that when using the system combined, I’m able to control volume via the TV remote. This is helpful when launching Netflix from the SmartHub or using one of the attached HDMI devices that connect to the “One Connect Mini” box, as it lets me use a single remote to control things.

The problem is, the devices that get the most usage run through the receiver: FiOS and Xbox. When turning on the TV to watch cable TV, it continually flips the input on the receiver back to TV, despite me being on the one marked “Xbox” or “Cable”.

I’m open to ditching ARC if others have found this situation untenable, but I frankly just want to be able to watch TV without the input flipping back and forth on me. I do like the fact that everything is talking somewhat, but it’s gotten very, very old to have the TV be going, and 45 seconds later it cuts to black because I’m not running anything off the TV’s input.
Thoughts/Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

-Tim

I haven't had an issue with CEC with Yamaha receivers. I would guess that HDMI 1.4 wouldn't make a difference in that regard. I do know on the Roku forums that Denon is one of the AVRs that give them grief with CEC, so could be a similar issue. Turning CEC off is most likely the easiest solution, although you lose that nice control of volume with a single remote. And that is a nice feature when it works.

Thanks for the thought. CEC is on the Samsung, correct?

Yes, also on my older Panasonic ST30. With the Panasonic, I have to power the AVR on first, or the volume CEC doesn't work. No problems with the Samsung.

I have the exact same issue as Tim: the JU7100 switches input on the receiver to Smart Hub (TV) about 30-45 seconds after power on even though the receiver initially recognizes the cable box as the input source.

I have all of my input components (cable box, Blu-ray/DVD players, AppleTV) plugged into HDMI ports on my Yamaha RX-v581. The JU7100 and Yamaha are connected from the HDMI in 4 (ARC) port on the OCM to the HDMI Out HDCP2.2 port on the Yammy. HDMI Control and ARC are enabled on the receiver with TV Audio Input set to the default AV2. Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) is enabled on the TV. Samsung and Yammy have current software updates.

The only "solution" I've ever found online is to completely disable HDMI ARC/CEC due to the fact that the JU7100 and the Yamaha RX-v581 have compatibility issues with this technology. Unfortunately, disabling HDMI control on the Yammy also disables ARC and ditto with turning off Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) on the Samsung. So I was surprised, Dan, that you don't have this issue with your RX-v679 and JU7100, and I'm wondering how exactly you have your ARC/CEC configured? Maybe I misunderstood your comment, or maybe this is an issue specific to the RX-v581?

TVs: Sony XBR65X930E (2017), v8.0.0 (6.6510) / Samsung UN50JU7100 (2015) w/ IA02 panel, sw v.1530.1

Before I left for my detail, I had a Roku Ultra and Sony BD player both connected to the Yamaha, then the AVR goes to the HDMI 4 port on the 7100. While the optical cable is also connected, it is using ARC for the audio. CEC works fine with the TV remote controlling the AVR volume. I can power on the BD player and the TV and AVR both power up on the correct inputs, and remain there as long as I'm using the BD player. If I press the Ultra remote Home button, the Roku wakes and switches the AVR input, and again it remains there. Anynet is enabled on the Samsung, and CEC is enabled on the Roku and Sony. Now that I'm gone on my detail, only the Sony is connected to the Yamaha. My wife hasn't complained about any issues, so I assume it's still functioning correctly.

You'll never get a response for this. Samsung refuses to post what they really fix.

Seek, and you will find.

Samsung has updated their NA websites to now have the 1510.3 firmware update, BUT, you have to use the down arrow `To see more' to find it under downloads!

USA:

Little easier to find in Canada:

Thank You
Hopefully Samsung has finally hired someone who's on the ball ?
Absolutely terrible to allow updates to get behind by a factor of 7!
Talking to Samsung Chat people is useless as, if it's not on their plasticized white sheets, then what you see is what you get. As far as they are concerned, there are no new FWs past what is on the websites - ahh, newer FWs are being pushed onto the sets, so don't tell me there's no newer FWs! These people are probably working out of their basements, and have absolutely no power, and don't want it, and don't care to have it !

I notice a lot of banding on my 85 JU7100. Is this the nature of the TV, or is it a calibration or adjustment issue?

This is while viewing 4k UHD discs with an OPPO 203.

Only have the 75", and see no banding issues. Are you in the right 4.2.0 setting? Are you trying to use 4.4.4 with older HDMI cables?
KONICA TECH likes this.

I loaded 1530 a while back. Been trying to load 1530.3 for over a week. TV doesn't recognize file. Do I have to break open the "image" folder on the thumb drive to load?

Put the unzipped folder on your flashstick. Just noticed the FW # is wrong - 1510.3 for current NA sets.>
