The network card is NOT the 1 Gig. Only 100.
I noticed the difference when I purchased the KS9800, where it's logged in within 10 seconds of turning it on, versus the JU7100 and HU900, HU7250, both with SEKs, taking upwards to 5 minutes to log in when turned on.

Funny yours takes that long. I see the logged-in banner on the TV within 30 seconds, and more likely less than 20. I've never really counted. I'm plugged into my wired gigabit home network, with an Internet speed of 60 Mbps.

I searched and searched through this thread, but I couldn't find any other posts with people having this same issue. Do you know which board it is they replaced? I took a chance and bought a T-CON board off of eBay, but it didn't make a difference.

Even while it's unplugged, I can see the line of pixels is different from the rest of the screen. Wouldn't that be more indicative of something physically going bad in the panel itself?

Also, I don't have access to the Disney WOW blu ray unfortunately.
Was there maybe an electrical storm or power surge while you were gone? Anything else at all with other devices, appliances etc seem different when you got home? Burn hole in the wall?

Fastest I've ever seen from my TV was like 90mbs (I use an ethernet connection). I think I was using fast.com to see what the speed was.

Just tested a few times again (the previous times were 6+ months ago) and now I'm only seeing 60mbs from fast.com.

Just tested again today and got a high of 75mbs.

Resolved a TV screen going black issue by resetting TV

TL;DR: I recently had a strange problem with my UN75JU7100 TV screen going black, audio still active via receiver and I think I may have fixed it by resetting the TV.

I have: FIOS DVR STB, Xbox One S, Roku Ultra
All connected to: Onkyo TX-NR676 (via good high-speed HDMI cables)
And main HDMI output of the receiver connected to HDMI1 on the one connect mini box.
And of course the long proprietary cable from one connect mini (through the wall) to the Samsung UN75JU7100 (firmware shows 1530; I use CAL-DAY all the time)
Audio is always through speakers connected to receiver and audio is never sent to TV, just the picture.
I don't use HDMI CEC at all.
I use a Logitech harmony 650 to control all the above devices.

Everything was going well, when all of a sudden family members started reporting that:
After they press an activity button like Watch TV, or Watch Roku
- TV/Receiver/STB or Roku turns on as expected.
- audio is heard through speakers connected to receiver, picture also shows up
- they don't use the remote at all.
- after 1 min, screen goes BLACK, audio continues! (EDIT 6/5/2018: To clarify: TV stays ON, screen goes blank/black)

I did some troubleshooting, and realized that if I press MENU, the TV showed me the menu and if I selected and clicked on HDMI1, the picture comes back!
This was consistent behavior and I am not sure why this happened.
I thought HDMI cables had gone bad, I bought new HDMI cables from Amazon and from some other vendor and tried a combination of them.
Disconnected one connect cables on both ends, used canned air to clean up all connections.
Nothing helped.

I then reset TV through the Self-Diagnosis menu and it fixed it.
I am still monitoring to see if this re-occurs.

Just wanted to document this for others and to see if others have seen this issue.

Interesting! So, dilipb, I'm currently experiencing the EXACT same issues. I have an extremely similar setup as well, PS4 - Samsung 4K blu-ray player, and an HTPC. Audio for all three is connected to a receiver, and the PS4/Blu-Ray player connect directly to the OneConnect Mini Box (HTPC transmits video and audio to the receiver via an HDMI cable)

Had the same issue, while watching Netflix through my PS4, the picture randomly vanished after about a minute. Turned off an on a few times and could only keep the picture for a minute or so, so I did a reset through the Support menu. Everything was good for about 1 month.

Then, same thing, picture starts disappearing. I tried switching to the Blu-Ray player, same issue. Eventually I pulled everything out of the one-connect box, turned on the smart TV, and tried just watching it (with the TV's speakers). Worked for about five minutes, but then the app kept crashing (So, no sound, if I was watching Netflix I'd just get a blank black screen).

Somewhat annoyed at that point, as I've taken the receiver, cables, and other components out of the picture and it's STILL crashing. I unplugged the TV while I was out for a day, tuned the TV back on and did ANOTHER reset, and then left it unplugged for another day. Turned the TV back on, plugged back in the Ethernet cord and an Aux cable from the TV to the Aux port on my receiver, and now I at least have the TV working again. Hasn't crashed yet, but it last almost a month last time without screwing up.

I'm good enough with electronics to know these systems are complicated, so I'm ruling out variables now. If the TV by itself plugged into the receiver seems to work for an extended period of time, I'll re-add the PS4 to the One Connect. If that doesn't cause instability, I'll add the HTPC as well. If either of those start causing problems, I'll know they're the culprit. If the SmartTV alone starts crashing again, I'm probably tossing it and starting over with a 6-series TCL television (This Samsung JU7100 has been an absolute goddamn nightmare more or less from day 1, the 3D feature stopped working and after 4 service calls from Samsung and a squarespace claim it's STILL not working. None of the technicians have had the slightest clue how the 3D feature works, they run the internal tests and after it fails to fix anything they throw up their hands and say they don't even know what to adjust (No one has gone into ASM other than to do a more thorough reset).

If you find the a solution to your problem, please update your post to indicate what happened

Yes I will keep everyone informed.
Adding some clarification to my above post: TV stays on, screen goes blank/black.
I will keep testing, planning to call Samsung as well, when I get some time.
Luckily its not happening after the TV reset, but when it did, it happened only once per TV watching session, so it was not THAT annoying, but we expect TV's to work flawlessly.

Hi all. Just found out the JU7100 supports some form of HDR. How can I make sure my TV is optimized for that? I am on update 1530. Also does the Vudu app on the TV support 4K UHD? all my movies I've bought in 4K dont show up on the app. Only HDX versions show up. Thank you!

Special HDR Patterns must be used for HDR calibration. (Checkout https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-d...-patterns.html)

2 Point and Custom CMS HDR can be calibrated for HDR - will require a meter and software.

If using Movie Mode, it and the USB Input will need separate calibrations. USB Input values also cover App HDR requirements.

Did you actually buy them in UHD from Vudu, or were they digital copies from a disc you bought? Of the 5 UHD titles I have, only one is UHD on Vudu. And several are not in UHD from any streaming source (Amazon, Google Play, iTunes or Movies Anywhere). When I asked Vudu about it, they said they didn't have that title in UHD.

I just found out through the VUDU website that VUDU UHD are not supported on the JU7100. I have a TCL 4K in the bedroom and it supports them but not our TVs. Kind of unfortunate. I bought them through the VUDU app

Hello all, I am looking to sell my 50" JU7100. But I want to make sure I am not false advertising.

Is this TV HDR capable? If so which technology and is it a 10 bit panel? I don't have any expensive blu ray or HDR sources to try this on. Mainly played 3D movies off my portable drive and PC

I was gonna list it as 4K 120Hz 3D HDR 10bit LED TV

The lack of HDR streaming for the JU7100 is easily addressed with the addition of a HDR capable UHD streaming device (Fire TV, ROKU, Chromecast Ultra, etc.)

My 75" JU7100 is acting squirrely! This may have happened after the update to firmware 1530. None of the picture settings seem to 'stick'. I get them adjusted just right, then within a day or two they completely change, sometimes leaving me with overly intense contrast and way too much color and other times leaving the picture totally washed out. Sometimes just moving one adjustment causes the picture to change radically.

I'm using Comcast for local TV and cable and Samsung 4K Blue Ray player to access Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, etc. This is driving me absolutely nuts! Has anyone else experienced this problem?

It handles HDR but is limited to what it outputs. It doesn't meet the Wide Color Gamut specs. It only supports HDR10. It doesn't meet the LED nit standard of 1000 for true HDR and, according to p5browne's recent calibration results, the firmware update lowered its nit output. I've heard it is a 10 bit panel but I've also heard it's an 8 bit with dithering so I can't help you there, it may depend on where the tv was manufactured.

Pic still looks good though for what it can do with HDR.

So...no one else seems to have this problem? Next question...how do I switch back to the previous FW version? Since the update, this TV has become pretty worthless junk!

FW reversals are not possible.
Have you tried the Service Menu Resets ? Under SVC. (assuming you have already tried the normal menu reset.)

Tip-of-the-Hat to p5browne .................A question for the 'JSMod Expert' .....just added an OPPO UDP-203 to my system and was wondering if I might achieve noticeably better UHD BluRay / UHD MKV playback on my 85" Samsung if I switched back to the ""JSMod"" and tried working from your Oct_21_JS_2017 WJS9000 MOD calibration results, despite firmware update effects in the interim?

p.s. - Though they are now dis-continued, I'm quite happy with the Oppo 203's performance, excepting its "infra-red" instead of "RF" remote; a remote that is otherwise the best I've every experienced!

Thanks

p.s.s. - Anyone know where wildgator went to?

Due to upgrading FW updates, and the JS Mod only working for a short period of time before becoming unstable re Samsung login and App issues, have reverted back to non JS Mod mode. Wife is happy with it the way it is now.

Leaving her HU7250 on JS Mod has it's advantages, but that was due to it missing some of our standard items: SmartLED and HDMI Black.

Have you tried the Service Menu Resets ? Under SVC. (assuming you have already tried the normal menu reset.)
How to I get to the Service Menu reset?

If dealing with the Service Menu - if you do NOT feel comfortable being there, then don't go there !
If you do go into the Service Menu, make sure to have all your settings either written down, or photographed. Going into the SM menu has a tendency to muck up settings. In the SM there's a Factory Reset, and under the SVC listing, there's about 4 resets. Stick to just the first one on the list.

SM - From Off Mode - Mute 1 8 2 Power ON. USE the Menu Key to back out of any areas. Be VERY careful, and DO NOT USE the Enter Key. Arrow keys only.
When finished, shut TV down. Use at your own risk - I'm not responsible for your errors if you brick your set !

Note: DO NOT go into the ADC! If you do brick your set, you can sometimes get it back up and running by re-installing the original ADC Results:
0 0 0 0 0 0 130 130 130 69 69 69 (On some sets the 130 is 131) If going into the SM, check the ADC Results for the values for your set and write them down. DO NOT CHANGE any Values unless resetting to your original values. !

I actually am having the same issue. I also have the 75inch, and after the update, regular cable just looks horrible. I had to tone down the color settings and contrast to make things more bearable. The picture quality changed drastically, but the good thing is my settings are sticking. I don't watch cable tv at all, but I do have ps4 pro and xbox 1 s connected, and the content looks better than cable tv. When i use apps built it, some of the videos looks alright, others are too bright, and crappy looking.. i just haven't had the time to play with the tv as much. it is a pain in the butt to calibrate.

I think mine is beginning to settle down...at least I haven't had to adjust it in the couple of days. Getting back into adjustment was a PIA. I could get it looking good on some bright daylight scenes, but then the darker scenes had way too little contrast. Of course, when I adjusted it to look good on the darker scenes, it was way over 'contrasty' on the bright scenes. It would look one way on cable and another way on Amazon and Netflix that I pull using the the Blu-Ray player over on a different HDMI input. Last night though, it looked great on both inputs and hopefully it will stay that way!

The problem is, Samsung is trying to squeeze more nits out of the set.
After watching several movies (Because my wife wanted to) on this set, today's 4K Movies need over 1000 Nits to play properly !
Black Panther looked boring and distant on the JU7100, and wife and I gave it 3 stars. After seeing the difference watching the `Extras' on my KS9800, re-watched the movie on my set - now 5 Stars - totally better looking movie now !
The JU7100 will remain the wife's TV, because for her, if it has colour, looks OK, and makes noise - it's fine with her. Plus - the 3D capability that my KS9800 doesn't have. To bad because 3D would look better on the brighter TV.
stanhere likes this.

Not to my knowledge. Certainly not serial, as it has no connection. I tried connecting to the TV via web browser with no success. Unknown if telnet or ssh might be available.
