Has anyone heard when Samsung and Disney will reach an agreement to update the J series for the Disney Plus app?

I have given up on apps integrated within smart televisions and Blu-ray players. They tend to drift out of support too quickly.

I have moved toward stand-alone dedicated streaming solutions, the NVidia Shield TV in my case.

I had used Chromecast for awhile, but they occasionally block Amazon, and Amazon's Fire TV has been known to block Google's products. I have found dedicated devices that are independent of both Google and Amazon have a far longer lifespan.

It appears it is only supported in 2016 and later Samsung smart TVs. J series is 2015, so I'm pretty sure we are SOL. I switched to Firesticks a few years ago and using 4K Firestick on my 55 J series.

Thank you both. I am hoping that Samsung eventually updates the 2015 J series. Too much to hope for?

Problem is, is the OS on the older sets. New OSs on the 2016 and newer. Wife's HU + SEK-3500U, I just added the Amazon Fire Stick. This gave her Disney and Apple + I seriously doubt there will be anymore FW updates.

UN65KS9800 - Mine
UN65HU9000 + SEK-3500U / UN75JU7100 / UN55HU7250 with SEK-3500U in UJS9000 Mod Mode / UN40J5200AF / HiSense 40H5507 - Wife's
UN55NU8000 X 2 - my 2 kids families (or should I say adults?)

I purchased a Roku+ stick. Going through my Denon receiver. Got the channel but disappointed that I can't view in 4k. 1080 only.
Am I doing something wrong?

What is JS MOD?
Does the new 1540.3 firmware support HDR? I just installed it and it kept all my previous TV settings. Seems to open Netflix app quicker. I watched The man in the high castle 4k and it said HDR when i paused the show. Not sure how this affects my non-HDR JU7100 65" tv?

Also mine is IH02 panel. Does the calibration from a TH01 panel work with mine?

Is your Denon 4k pass thru compatible?

Hi, is this also the thread for the Samsung 78JU7500 ? (im not sure if the 7100 is the corresponding model of the 7500 in the USA since I got mine from the Philippines).

If not, can you kindly point me to the right direction. Thanks.

The JS Mod was a hack to enable HDR functionality before Samsung finally released official firmware to support it. It is no longer necessary for HDR, and I don't recall it added anything else worthwhile, and it did break access to your Samsung account from the TV. No need for it any longer, as your JU7100 has HDR now. I'm not saying it's as good as the OLED sets they sell now, or even the JS sets from the same generation. But it does a passable job with HDR.

I can't say of there's a big difference in the calibration settings for the different panels, but I do recall that someone had created different settings for different panels. Not certain those old numbers are still valid.

Try setting the display type manually on the Roku.

I believe I tried that. Will try it again. I do think when I did 1080 was the only option. Perhaps the problem is I'm using the aux HDMI port on the reciever?
