Thank you for contacting Samsung. I have read your email and I understand that you have a Samsung TV with an upgrade option using Evolution Kits. The Evolution Kits are currently not being produced and I can imagine this can be disappointing to you. I sincerely apologize if this has caused any inconvenience to you and would like to help you with all the available information. I would like you to inform you that in 2012 we started the Evolution Kits and they were software and processor updates. And we released an physical upgrades for them in 2013, 2014, and 2015 and a software upgrade in 2016. This covers the 2012 models to the end of the promised upgrade period. Just because we are no longer releasing physical upgrades for them this does not exclude them from App updates and other firmware upgrades.
There was no Evolution Kit released in 2016. It was determined that there were no significant processor improvement that merited customers buying a new evolution Kit. It was announced that all the 2015 Smart hubs would receive a firmware update to update Smart Hub to Smart Hub 2.0 and this would be considered the Evolution Upgrade for the year. The same continued in 2017 as there were no significant Hardware changes; so no physical kit has been released.
I believe the TVs were advertised as future proof but Samsung had disclaimers that we can choose to halt production at any time. Just like Smart Hub apps we could terminate all the streaming functionality on they TVs and there would be no legal ramifications because in the terms and conditions we state that we can terminate it at any time and without notification. I see that you have mentioned about a refund for the TV. I wish I could help you but that option is unavailable.
