maybe someone else can help me. I have a Panasonic Blu-Ray Player, Directv Genie, My Computer which is hardly on half the time (HTPC), these are hooked to the 747 then via HDMI to my OCB NINI HDMI4 ARC. what else can i say.

I just received my 65" JS8500 and have light bleeding only visible in the bottom right corner. (see the pictures)... Other corners are OK. Would you keep it or return it?

I tried every settings. It appears only with bright picture, but is not visible when the picture is very bright.

The TV is not perfectly horizontal, it tilts a little on the left. I'll check the stand but do not want to force it.

Thanks!

The UN65JU7500 and UN65JS9000 I had, tilted to the left. I have the J7500 soundbar so the tilt was very noticeable and annoyed me. Try loosening the screws on the back, tilt it to the right and tighten the screws. This helped somewhat on my JS9000.

That looks a bit annoying. Light bleed is common, but not focused like that.

light bleed is not common at all with 8500 (don't confuse it with flashlighting and clouding) and a legitimate defect. i'd return that TV.

Backlight/Brightness settings automatically changing

Hi Everyone!

I've noticed whenever I watch a UHD or UHD w/HDR movie through MGO, my backlight and brightness settings automatically change to max. Even after I've backed out of the app, the settings stay maxed out. Anyone else having this issue? Any way I can keep my settings from automatically changing?

Thanks in advance for any tips/advice!

Thanks! I returned it and a new one will be delivered next Wednesday. Hope it's gonna be without defects. I had a really good price on an open box at Best Buy (Canada) VIP sale and was afraid they don't want to keep the same price if I took a brand new box. I'm lucky they exchanged it for an unopened for the same price!

Yeah I noticed this as well, when I play different content the backlight settings always max out, especially when playing 4k content from the USB Samsung Drive. I think the TV just detects that it is UHD, HDR, or 4K and then seems to adjust the backlight setting accordingly.

Hi All,

Longtime lurker, rarely post. I got this TV a month ago. Loving it. A little flashlighting in the bottom left corner, but not bad enough to risk the exchange.

Question for those of you running cable through your Xbox One into the TV. Am I better off setting my cable box to output YCC or RGB? I'm not sure what type of conversion is happening at the Xbox level and was hoping somebody might know.

Thanks!

Does the JS8500 suffer from the "panel lottery"?

I would like to buy the 55", but Costco only has the 65" in warehouse. I prefer to buy in warehouse as you can clearly see the boxes and which version they are. Due to how they had the boxes I was unable to see the version. It would be unacceptable to me to order online and then receive a non-samsung panel. I did think it was interesting, they had the 7500 on display (which was a TH version) and then every single box of that they had for sale was a non-samsung panel....coincidence? Doubtful

I believe the 55" version has so far only been found with Samsung made panels.

I just bought the 55 inch js8500. no problems with flashlighting, light bleed etc. Blu rays look great and i have not even done much with calibration. The majority have found it to be a great tv but look at any tv on this site and someone will have a problem. just be certain the tv's strong points fits your needs.

Optical out

Rtings.com says Samsung tv does pass 5.1 audio via optical. I am using the optical out on my one connect mini to my onnkyo receiver and it says the feed is Dolby digital 5.1. Sure sounds like 5.1 to me. Does anyone know the answer?

What do you guys think as far as purchasing now? Costco has the 55" 8500 for $1980 and you get 1 free year of Netflix. Would you anticipate better deals closer to the holidays?

I've also been struggling with TV size. Viewing distance is 8' but can be increased to as much as 12'. All three are in my budget: 75" J6300, 65" JU7100, and 55" JS8500. I prefer to buy thru Costco for the 2nd year warantee and return policy. Unfortunately, they don't have a ju7100 model. Use will be predominantly watching sports.

Buydig and Beach Camera have been selling the 55" for $1299 on Ebay every saturday for the last 3 weeks. The shipping is slooooooooow, but free, and folks have been receiving the sets. I can almost guarantee you'll see these cheaper at retailers too, before the holidays.

My opinion, spend a few dollars more and get the 65 8500' well worth it. 55 is getting a bit small, I am glad I got the 65 instead!!

Anyone find a programmable remote to replace the UN55JS8500's OEM remote? Specifically, one that will learn the JS8500's Multi-Link icon. I don't use the Laser pointing.

I'm testing an Inteset 4-in-1 Universal Backlit IR Learning Remote but I don't know how to get it to learn the Multi-Link sequence.

Interesting. I am on my second 65js8500. First one from BB had a ton of clouding. Huge areas. BB suggested transporting it in my car may have damaged it. I was lucky enough for them to exchange an open box for a nib at same price after returning a ju7500 that also had unacceptable clouding. I have very similar backlight bleed in the exact same spots. Lower left (worse) and lower right (less worse) corners. Looks to be better than yours but it is noticeable (a) when I'm looking and (b) only on light screens. I think I've pushed my luck with BB enough (3 returns already) and I even had samsung to the house once for a panel swap but the replacement panel was defective.

Seems like the idea of expecting perfection is unrealistic at this point. In some ways, I preferred the clouding to the bleed. Seems like the panel lottery is very real. I guess the manufacturers just assume most people will live with it. Very frustrating experience buying a 65LCD tv. I'm inclined to just accept it but for $2500 I expected better. After 3 sets, I have no reason to believe a 4th will be any better.

I am on my fourth exchange, and finally got a nice 65JS8500... there is however a very very slight blue-ish hue on one corner that I can only see whenever the screen is black, but I can live with it... the thing that annoyed me the most is a blur/judder effect on people or objects that move fast, but is less and less noticeable the more I use the TV for whatever reason.

My first TV was a 55JS8500, and it was absolutely perfect right out of the box, but I wanted to try the 55JS9000, and that one had a perfect panel, but a faulty One Connect Box , then I exchanged for another 55JS9000, and that one had HORRIBLE blur/judder effect on people/objects right out of the box... so finally I got the 65JS8500 I mentioned initially, and I guess I can live with its minor annoyances, and take my chances.

PS: the move from 55 to 65 was far more noticeable than I thought it would be. At 10', the 65'' feels like the better choice for me.

Hey guys, I bought a 65" JS8500 about 2 weeks ago and am pretty happy with it overall, just something that looks like a bright spot in the bottom right corner occasionally... not sure if this is backlight bleeding or flashlighting or what. I can only notice it when watching letterboxed content and it seems to go away occasionally so it's probably tied to the Smart LED function. Any recommended settings for that? or maybe the Cinema Black (i think that's the name) setting?

I also just noticed that the new LG 4k HDR OLEDs got a massive price drop in the last week or so. They looked AMAZING when I saw them in the showroom but couldn't the 2x price increase over the JS8500. Now I can get the 55" LG E9500 for about the same price as my 65" JS8500... would losing the 10" be worth it for what is in my mind a significantly superior picture? My couch is about 12-14' from the TV so I'm afraid 55" might be too small for the space. I had a 50" Samsung plasma in there before I got the JS8500 and it definitely seemed too small

Thanks!

Look at the OLED forum for the EF9500. It is panel lottery time over there. Lots of issues of yellow streaks on panels, vignetting and other major uniformity issues. If you luck out these issues will be minimal if you don't you will be exchanging TV's for quite some time until you get a good one.

OLED will give you better blacks and better off axis viewing

JS8500 will give you better uniformity and panel quality, better HDR PQ due to being a brighter panel and no concerns with panel longevity

Hi, sorry if it's stupid question, but I can not find it.

Is it possible to sort channels, when I have about 200 channel but only 40 is for me OK. So I had add those 40 channels to my favorite 1. If I have choose all channels to see, I can have sorted channel as I wish, by number. BUT, when I choose to see only favorite 1 channels I can have sorted by number as I want. Only by name.

Pls any suggestions?
Is it possible to sort it in TV all is necessary to sort it in any app?
thx
