Have you noticed any degradation in PQ or any other anomalies/glitches (random reboots, etc.) now that you've had this longer cable up and running for a few days?
Sure thing. I of course took a look at a few screens, some 4k content, etc when I plugged the new cable in. But that test was <10 minutes in duration. Everything looked the same to me. I haven't had much time for tv in the last few days but I plan to look a little closer when I do. I'll definitely post if I notice anything. But for now it seems like it is the exact same.

Seemed to look alright. Where it was bad for me was in the scene in the dark car where they're speaking Spanish and half the screen lit up whenever there were subtitles.

Edit: just saw your pic, do you have smart led on?

Yea I have it on standard. Yea the driving scene was also bad for me. I only really see this with HDR content and I really don't see anyway of fixing it.

Hey all - having a new problem (though this one is far more minor)!

My samsung remote doesn't appear to be fully working anymore. The power button, arrows, pointer do in fact work but volume, smart hub, source buttons do not.

As suggested on the remote, I pressed the Return/Exit + Extra buttons to repair the remote with the TV. However the buttons I mentioned still do not work (though power, arrows, pointer) continue to work.

I can't change the source or volume unless I first use the pointer to select those options, which is pretty annoying.

Any ideas?

Change batteries, shut the tv down and wait a few minutes, then try it again. A re-pair usually fixes these issues.

Anyone have this problem where tv won't respond to any of the remote buttons except power button? I've had this happened to me a few times randomly. I tried to change volume tv won't respond and tried to bring up tv menu it won't do anything. I was able to reboot tv with power button but still won't respond to any other buttons I pressed except power. After a few minutes everything came back. I've had the tv for about 6 months.

Is there a way to soft reset the tv without losing my picture setting?

You just need to re-pair the remote with the TV.

It wasn't an issue with remote pairing, the power button still worked and I have two remotes both behaved the same. It also happened when I had just switched the input to uhd BD player. Probably HDMI control issue.

The Power Button still works even when the TV isn't paired with the remote as the Power Button uses a different signal.

Hold return/exit and extra to re-pair the remote. The power button is IR while everything else is Bluetooth

this happened to me twice yesterday. never had an issue before. but then again, I hardly ever use that remote. It's only for when my harmony needs a recharge. perhaps the latest update got a little screwy...

And which panel version do you have?

Are they all TH01 or different? Mine is a TH01. It's a 55 inch, I sit probably 8 feet away. I can move left or right of center about 4 feet or a total of 8 feet and the color loss is minimal. Now say of I'm looking at the corner of my TV from let's say a 60° angle, doesn't matter if its one foot away or ten feet away, the color loss is quiet diminishing. I'll see if I can post pictures.

Can y'all post some pictures of your color loss at an angle? One on center and one at an angle?
OK, I fired up the Samsung HDR UHD demo from a USB 3.0 flash drive and paused it to take some pictures. This is one paused frame from a fast-moving scene so clarity is obviously not what's being demonstrated here--color saturation is what we're trying to gauge.

The first picture is from my main viewing position which is 10' away and about 8" right of dead center. The second picture is 5' to the right of that position (this is where you first notice colors desaturate and blacks turn gray). The next picture is from 1 step beyond the second position and 1 step closer to the TV where my right-front speaker starts to block the view. The last picture is from an extreme side angle where my right-front speaker is clearly in view. I took the pictures with an iPhone 6 and used the same zoom amount for all shots.

As you can see, from the middle position you're getting an incredible, cinema-quality experience and even moving 5' in either direction from that 10' middle position you're getting decent contrast and impressive colors. It's true that you're not getting the same, "perfect" view when you move more than 4' in either direction from a 10' dead center position but you're not giving up much--with a good source this TV's performance is breathtaking.

If you want to figure out your "perfect" cone of vision for this TV in your room you can calculate your angles here (or dust off your TI-89 ).

Update: I forgot to add that I'm using denpom's exact settings. You can find a link to them on the first page. Thanks again, denim.

Update 2: this is the 65" JS850D (8500 w/ gunmetal border) but you could expect similar performance on the 55"

Long time lurker here. I'm an owner of the 48" since last September. But to be honest I haven't used the TV much for 4K. Only now have I started to. I don't have the Samsung UHD player yet, but certainly plan to once it either becomes more developed and/or other manufacturers release their own. But now that I am finally getting into the heart of this set, I'm confused as to what to put Smart LED and dynamic settings on for 4K and 4K HDR. I realize everybody's eyes are different and that sets vary from person to person. But I just would like some clarification, basically recommendations when to use which for a specific mode. Thanks.

I have had the 55" for about 4 months, love the tv. Recently I have noticed an issue with the wifi dropping when my hvac kicks in. I have other devices connected to my main router and connections don't drop with them. I am also able to connect to another secondary router and do not seem to experience drops when the hvac kicks in. Would anyone have any idea what the issue could be.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to deal with Samsung and what to expect in regard to getting them to fix/replace my JS9000 after 3 months?
I've got a pretty bad banding problem with graphics and gaming colour graduations, it looks really bad, and I don't think I should have to put up with it.

I have the same problem with a DVD player, yet all the rest of my components are on the same wall plug. The only thing I have been able to determine is that my heater and wall outlet for my components are on the same circuit. So that DVDs circuitry is apparently sensitive to the momentary current draw in the circuit when the heater kicks on.

1. this is a thread for the js8500.
2. Are you using someone's trusted settings from the js9000 thread?
3. what is your video source that you are using in the pics?

Thanks again, denpom.

thanks for this. this is what most of us see off angle. not that bad at all, but yes, some loss of color. not a big deal IMO.

I've got a pretty bad banding problem with graphics and gaming colour graduations, it looks really bad, and I don't think I should have to put up with it.
1. this is a thread for the js8500.
2. Are you using someone's trusted settings from the js9000 thread?
3. what is your video source that you are using in the pics?
I know it's for the 8500, but I was told some of you guys might be able to chip in about Samsung and how hinderous they might be with my issue. Plus the 8500 and 9000 are similar.

I've messed around with all sorts of settings and even did a factory restore, still the same.
Some shots are from my PS4, and a separate Blu-Ray player, and one connect box using USB.

I've tried everything, I thought it might be HDMI cables, but as it does it directly through the connect box with USB, it rules that out.

From those pictures it doesn't look like it's calibrated correctly. When you say you "messed around with all sorts of settings" did you do that on your own or are you putting in a full set of proven settings? There's a fine interplay between the settings on modern TVs and if you start playing with them--even from a known-good configuration--you can create major problems. Nobody will be able to help you troubleshoot color gradient/grayscale issues without a reference to your settings.
