Yes,it is viewable but you're not able to actually select it or highlight it.

Are you hearing the clicking sound the tv makes to let you know it's responding to commands, like changing the volume? You can turn that off if you don't like it.

No, it's not navigation sounds like you'd find navigating Windows, before turning it off. It's actually the noise of switches being activated when doing things like selecting an app, changing a source input in the 123 Menu, etc..

I had the 65" 7100 before returning it for 65" 8500. Both tvs are pretty reflective but the 8500 is notably less reflective. That wasn't the reason for me swapping but was a added bonus as it's in a room with a lot of windows

For some reason the TV stopped recognizing the receiver on the AnyNet/CEC. When checking the Speaker Settings "Receiver" is now grayed out. Even when I do a device search it says nothing's found.

The two devices are connected via HDMI (using the hub's HDMI 4, ARC). They're also on the same network (the TV is wired and I can confirm that the receiver is working on WiFi and that it is otherwise working as it always has).

Suggestions?

* The only prior issue is that the TV would automatically turn the receiver on/off but never automatically directed the audio to it.

I'm seeing the same issues since the 1214 firmware. Luckily for me I can get everything to work temporarily by resetting my receiver (Samsung HT-H5500W HTIB) to defaults every time I turn it on. Everything breaks again if the receiver is off for more than a few secs.

As of Friday, Samsung claims they are aware of the problem and it should be fixed in the next firmware update.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone with the light bleed issue had a tech from Samsung out to look at the TV? They are sending someone tomorrow and I'm wondering if I should bother being optimistic.

screen reflection js8500 vs ju7100 vs x850c

Can you kindly confirm if the screen for 7100 is glossy - same as 8500 or more matt finish? I have had the 8500 and the very clear mirror like reflection is the only thing bothering me about the tv, to an extent that I am thinking of returning and replacing with a 7100 or 850c. Kindly suggest about 7100 so I can avoid that set if the same issue persists.

Thanks

How bad is the light bleed?

Can you post a pic of it in a dark room?

Some is to be expected, but if its really terrible they will likely replace the panel

Also does it indicate the size of the file. I know they are very large.

No TV is going to be perfect, that is the nature of LED technology.. What it really comes down to is what are you willing to live with? This TV has better screen uniformity as far as banding is concerned than Sony and LG. It may however have a slight bit more light bleed than Sony in a pitch black room

Thanks
from rtings.com for the JU7100

Reflection: 0.7 %
Surface Type: Glossy
The Samsung JU7100 reflects very little ambient light due to its glossy screen, which is great for improving the perceived contrast ratio when a few lights are on. However, this type of finish has two downsides: direct light sources (like bulbs) get a rainbow around their reflection, and the eye tends to focus instead on reflected objects because they are well-defined. Therefore, this TV is ideal when you have the lights either overhead or behind the TV - not facing the TV.

I would not return the 8500 for the 7100 as you will see more reflections (in the same conditions room placement/lighting)

This is a great deal. I also had a movers coupon for 10% off.

Maybe they are trying to clear inventory to get ready for the new UHD video pack with HDR titles.

Is this the UHD pack you are referring to? See link below. If so, it is on sale at Best Buy for $49. I am planning on buying a JS8500 around mid-July but wondering if I should buy one of these pack now. Suggestions?

UPDATE: I just ordered one and will pick it up today at our local BB store. I assume I will be able to download via M-Go additional or replacement movies in HDR to it. Right? I will be buying the TV in a few weeks.

What do you mean "light bleed"?

All side lit LED panels have some bleed around the edges, inconsistencies etc...clouding and such when darks/lights and across the side due to the technology. Anybody that says otherwise I don't believe for 1 second...it has been an issue since the beginning of side lit LEDs 4-5yrs ago...hasn't been fixed. It has gotten better...but no way around it. The JU7100 had it, just like my LG 60UF8500.
