I have reset the TV multiple time now with each firmware update & I am still getting the black screen blinks sometimes. Going to call Samsung finally I guess. Any idea how much a new panel even cost?
I love this TV & this is the only thing that sucks. It takes me an hour to set up picture settings each time & clears out all the app info each time I reset it. Did they come out first & see it needed the new panel first? Guess I really need to stop stalling & just call Samsung & get this checked already.

VUDU HDR10 TITLES:

I’ll try to get confirmation next week, but I believe the 2015 JS Series are scheduled for a firmware update for compatibility with the HDR10 titles on Vudu.

I have an Nvidia shield that is one of the devices that supports Vudu HDR but I noticed that my TV has noticably superior image quality for it's built in apps compared to the Shield so this is definitely great news.

I saw that Vudu commented that it is coming also for the 2015 and 2016 KS series. I would settle just for UHD from the Vudu app but will take it all!

Mine is still under warranty, so not sure on coast, could be wrong, but I think a new panel is around $1,000?

As of this writing, approximate pre-tax panel pricing is as follows (other vendors might be less expensive):

48" panel = $1,078.80 minus $174.00 core credit (original panel cannot have any cracks or other physical damage) = $904.80: www.tvserviceparts.com/BN95-02112A.html

55" panel = $1,485.95 minus $224.00 core credit (original panel cannot have any cracks or other physical damage) = $1,261.95: www.tvserviceparts.com/BN95-02113A.html

65" panel = $2,279.20 minus $366.00 core credit (original panel cannot have any cracks or other physical damage) = $1,913.20: www.tvserviceparts.com/BN95-02114A.html

Thank goodness for extended warranties.

My new in the box UN65JS8500 was only $1999. So for only $86.80 more I got the entire TV.

I have an appointment for Friday to fix the TV. They said over the phone it was going to be like $200 + service call. Phone person was kinda hard to understand. Spent way too much time trying to get it all set up for repair as well. I set up claim on Saturday afternoon online & got email to call them to trouble shoot on Monday night. Called them Monday night for 20 minutes for trouble shooting. Then called on Tuesday cause he said I had to wait to see the TV go blank again. Here he set up ticket # for me to take 65 inch TV to somewhere instead of home repair. So had to spend another 40 minutes to set up in home repair ticket. I bought the TV with Discover card so I am going to try to file a claim to have the repair reimbursed with extended warranty thru them.

you should check with discover card before you spend anything out of your own pocket

I am going to have it fixed no matter if they pay for it or not. Just have to file the claim with in 45 days of repair.

https://www.discover.com/credit-card...oduct-warranty

"When you need a covered item repaired or replaced, and it’s outside of the manufacturer’s warranty, contact Discover at 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683) to file a claim. To be eligible, you must file a claim within 45 days of the covered loss.
You will then be asked to complete a claim form and return it along with copies of the original manufacturer warranty and your account statement showing the purchase, and the original purchase receipt. You may also be asked to provide a copy of the repair bill or a statement indicating that the item cannot be repaired. Once the claim has been fully submitted and approved, you can expect reimbursement within 60 days."

So he replaced the motherboard today. $478.00 total
Technician said if the random blinks still happen he will come back, put my old motherboard back in, bring new One Connect box, refund me for the motherboard, & just charge me for the new One Connect.
(Which would be even less money)
We were looking at some 4K HDR clips from Madden 18 with him on the Xbox X & it seems faster to switch between HDR & SDR than I had seen previously. Oh & all that time with Samsung on the phone was totally worthless. They didn't even note that I told them I only saw the random blinks on the HDMI's ports & not any of the smart hub apps.

The Samsung UBD-K8500 plays really nice with our TV.
On the Samsung player - BD Wise: Off (Only applicable to Samsung Displays. Player and display must be directly connected. When on in the player the 8500 will output standard Blu-ray at 1080p.) So it will play your 1080p Blu-rays @ 1080p & let your TV do the up scaling. Yet, still do 2160p for the 4K Blu-rays when you play them. I know for sure it has 3D too. I don't know if the Sony does.

Directly connected? I will most likely run this thru my Denon receiver...

Any else have an opinion on these to players?

Yes, I don't have a 4K receiver yet. I have one 2.2 HDMI to the TV for picture & one 1.4 HDMI to the receiver for lossless audio. Even when I get a 4K receiver, I will still do the split HDMI's. Everything pulled into receiver HDMI has the same TV settings. With it split I can have picture settings just for the Blu-ray player since it is on separate HDMI than receiver. Receiver HDMI will share all the devices & might not be good to share same settings for everything. Oh how I wish my Xbox One X had split HDMI's too. Just using 2.2 HDMI for picture & optical cable for now on it.

I did see the Sony will do 3D as the Samsung will.

Speaking of receivers...

Can someone share what the oldest Denon Receiver recommended that will still work with 4K (my below set up). I would like to upgrade my receiver, however I'd like to purchase a used one as I do not need the newest model and would like to save some money.

Samsung un55js8500
Denon 2310 receiver
Apple TV 4K
Am going to purchase either Sony UBP-X800 or Samsung UBD-K8500 for Blu Ray.

Currently looking at the below receivers:

Denon 2113
Denon x2000

The Sony has 3d (amazing quality) and pairs very well with the Samsung. The Samsung remote will control the basic Sony functions and also shows up in the Samsung menu display. In my opinion the Sony is a more solid better built unit, in addition to being a second generation 4k player.
