My head is going to explode trying to figure out what 3D TV to get. I'm leaning toward the SOny XBR65X850C since it will be $1799 starting Thursday at BestBuy. And if they still have the $200 discount toward the Sony speaker bars, that will seal the deal since I need to get a new SOny speaker bar for it. The newer ones have HDCP 2.2 and HDMi 2.0 which I will need to use my 4K devices with the TV. Although the issue I've read about from light bleed has given me some pause.
Is that price official for Thursday at BB? I bought early this week, but the delivery is still a week and a half away. They theoretically don't price match Black Friday prices, but an undelivered TV is easy enough to cancel.

Well, she's going to be thrilled about the size...It's what she wanted. A 65" TV monitor can consume the space it's in, not in a physical way, more so aesthetically. I think I'll be "okay" with the size, if not I'll be making the office into my secondary gaming/movie room with the Sony....lol

Couldn't get rid of the OLED itch, had to dip my toes in...at the price point figured why not...

Anyone know if there's a specific hdmi port that's best for PS4 on the 850C. I know on the VIZIO M hdmi 5 was best for game systems.

Nope, any port will do... Personally I use HDMI 3 and set the input to "Enhanced Format" under external input settings...

The problem may be with NTFS. Usually FAT formatted aren't an issue

Go to the BB website and look at the BF ad. Select the TV category and it will show the Sony TVs. I'm still wondering if I try to purchase it on Thursday if the price will actually be lower in December. I've pretty much decided to get the 850C. Hopefully the 65 inch. But I could decide to drop down to the 55". I really wish they had a 60" version because that is what I would opt for.

What kind of panel is the 55" 850C? I am leaning on the 810C, but with the BestBuy BB deal $100 diff compared to the 850C, I would rather go for the 850C. How is the TV is a dark bedroom?

No info on Sony web site yet. I actually thought that the picture looked better on average quality steamed content last night than usual, but not sure if I'm just seeing things I want to see.

That's normal...it'll count down through all the apps on the set, and then after that's over it will reboot one more time, IRRC, and then come up normally.

Another Q for Harmony users...

When I'm in SmartTV mode and switch to another activity, the TV seems to interpret some change activity commands from the Harmony as SmartTV actions, and will usually start to open the most recently used app (e.g., YouTube) or make selections in the currently opened app when I select a new activity. For example - I've just watched something in YouTube, I return to Home screen and then select my Watch TV activity (view on HDMI3 from DVR). Before switching inputs, the TV will re-open the YouTube app and then also sometimes take an additional selection or two (as if the "OK/Select" button is being pushed repeatedly) - you can see the actions occurring on the set. Then the input change happens and I'm off to the other input and my chosen activity.

This happens consistently. I've never seen this behavior w/Harmony on any other TV (e.g., the TV doing spurious things on the current activity before changing to a new activity) but this is the first SmartTV I've used w/the Harmony where i actually use the SmartTV feature. It happens across three different Harmony 700s that I have (two are new, one older) so it's not an issue w/a particular remote failing. I'm not doing anything special in the Activity settings on the Harmony, each activity just turns on devices (if required for new activity) and changes inputs. I have played w/some of the delay settings (power on/inter-device, etc.) but that should not affect the actual commands sent.

Any ideas?

I did look. I only saw 810C's in the sale flyer. Maybe just your region?

Still, I do really like to do Black Friday. Do they let you buy online for those deals?

I notice this as well. I thought it might be that the TV is interpreting IR signals from the Harmony activity, but that doesn't really make any sense since it's just switching sources on my AVR usually. It's strange.

I recently Purchased a 65"x850c to use as an HTPC monitor/Tv

I noticed to get 4:4:4 color.. it had to be in Game or Graphics Mode.. However, Game mode it only allows SRGB color space where Graphics Model allows Adobe Color Space..

One thing I can't find out ... is if Graphics Mode has the same input lag as Game mode.. does anyone know?

Rtings say "Outside Game Mode: 64.2 ms" based on my (casual) observation.. it feels like Graphics mode is 64ms input lag. .NOT the 34millisceconds game mode..
The issue this casues me.. as an HTPC gamming rig, I like to make use of the Full ARGB gamut in games.. and yes, most games are SRGB but I personally enjoyed the wider gamut look..

Thanks for confirming this isn't just me.

Yeah, it is really odd that the SmartTV would act on a command sent to my AVR or DVR, or whatever other device I'm turning on and sending commands to. The only command sent to the TV is the input change, which should not confuse it.

Strange.

I finally found the Best Buy Black Friday price of $1200 for the 55"... but why wait?

Tonight Amazon (and BB) are showing $1198, $1798 and $2998 for the three sizes. And yeah, we're pretty pissed about how cheap that 75" got.

Anyway, has anyone found a change list for the new firmware? My TV keeps asking and I'm hesitant to be an early adopter.

I may have missed your followup post but did the new glasses from Sony TBG-BT500A clear up the 3D crosstalk? I went from the TBG-BT400A to the TBG-BT500A (same as you) and they made no difference for me. I have the XBR-75X850C and the crosstalk has been unacceptable by any standards. There are maybe only 3 or 4 movies in my 85 3D movie collection that look halfway decent in 3D, meaning the crosstalk is tolerable.

And I'm talking about good quality-made movies, like most of the Marvel movies and Avatar for God's sake, which I'm sure most would agree are normally good quality 3D movies, right?. Well, even those movies have a lot of crosstalk on the new 75 inch 850C. The latest firmware, just released a couple days ago, didn't do a thing to fix the 3D issue and I was really hoping it would. I find myself watching my 3D content on my upstairs TV, which is Sony's 2014 55" model (850B) with passive 3D.

It's a shame I have to watch these on my 55 inch TV upstairs when I have an otherwise beautiful 75 inch TV downstairs, but they're unbearable to watch on this TV. Have two tickets open with Sony's support and they have offered no solutions so far. Keep hoping for that magic firmware fix but it never comes.

My brother has the 75", and while I was there to view one 3D movie, I didn't notice any crosswalks or cross-talks. I did notice this gal had a heck of a spacewalk and cross-space and and her space friends died and she was the only one that made it back to Earth. Wow. The Cleveland Klownz rarely get a touchdown on 1st-n-goal. She could 'Play Like a Brown'.

Is this cross-talk problem isolated or widespread with this model or other models?

Tonight Amazon (and BB) are showing $1198, $1798 and $2998 for the three sizes. And yeah, we're pretty pissed about how cheap that 75" got.
My Amazon cart changed to reflect the new lower pricing of $1198 for the Sony XBR55X850C!
