Adjust your picture settings for those apps. I have no washed out picture on my set. There are separate memory settings for the apps. That are different from the HDMI inputs. And then there are a couple of different memory settings depending on the type of app being used as well.

I have adjusted my brightness and contrast, but still can not get a good picture. Luke Cage on netflix is really washed out compared to the non HDR version of it when I watch through my Dish network app.

It sounds like you haven't selected to watch the HDR version but set the TV to HDR profile... or vice versa you are watching the HDR version of the show, but switched your video profile away from HDR.

Did recent updates limit the "app" downloads?

Did Sony limit the Google Play store access for apps in a recent TV update?

Sincere apologies to the group if this has been addressed previous posting, but we were having some lag issues while watching on line "prime" movies.

To troubleshoot, I wanted to check the internet speed on our direct ethernet connected XBR850C (Fall of 2015) unit).

Thinking that I would simply download the popular app "speedtest", I found that the options to download new apps from the Google Play store is now severely limited.

Is it me or indeed did Sony cut back on allowed apps for these TV's?

Or perhaps there is a setting to "open-up" the app add function?

(For that matter, I (now) can't find where the built-in internet browser is? I am sure that there was one a year or so ago on a menu option somewhere...)

Thanks in advance.

That is entirely possible. My contact said that the Amazon app was about to have an update. Hopefully, it fixed that stupid stuttering issue it was having...

I haven't bugged him lately. In August, he said it would be a 'few months'...he was talking about fall of this year, so...we're there...I would imagine it may be in November. I'm always hesitant to bother him - don't want to wear out my welcome. He has been extremely helpful, and don't want to bug him to the point of no longer having a 'friend' at Sony... I'll hit him up in another week or so to see what he can divulge...

What program are you using? It's a spreadsheet so any compatible program that can open Excel spreadsheet should be able toopen it. There are no macros and other functionality, it's just plain text and images.

Thanks.

I have to ask though, is there a way around this limitation?

I do have other devices attached (and can run speedtest from there), but I want to validate the network speed up/down on the TV.

Thanks again.

You can sideload apps on the TV. You need to have a file browser on the TV, like ES Explorer, and then you're to get the APK (program file) for the app you want to download.

You can usually findthe desired APK on the APK Mirror site, it's reliable site to get the APKs for Android programs.

Download and put the APK file on a USB stick, connect that to your television's USB port, and use the file explorer program on the TV to find and run the file.

One issue will be if the app does not have a "10 foot interface" and can be difficult to use on the TV. If the app expects a touchscreen interface, and we don't have that on the TV, you may need to have an external pointer like a mouse or other option to make selections in the app if you can't sort of "tab" through different buttons on the app using up/down left/right keys on the remote, etc.

I think I have this information in the FAQ.

Seems like the recent small update from the website is now available from the menu of the tv itself. I check about once a week and just 2 days ago an update was available. I am on the east coast NJ with the 75. Menu seems a little big faster, but it always feel faster right after an update and then begins to bog down as time goes on.

I'm starting to notice the right side of my set being brighter than the left, it is especially noticeable in HDR mode in the black bars for movies. I can see a small hot spot of light along the bottom edge. Has anyone had success minimizing this type of issue or having it covered under warranty? I am still under warranty with Costco until December.

Hello everyone
I have a 55x850c and after the last update I noticed that the TV is not calibrated properly, don't know how to calibrate so I found myself buying the spyder5 elite, and I'm not some photographer or photo editor not sure if i need it at all.
im using the TV as a computer monitor ,Will Spyder5 answer my needs?
Another thing, when i switch to HDR, in my windows 10 and in the TV picture setting , the screen looks like it is covered with a fog really bad quality, the other HDR channels works well like netflix and PS4.
please help pepl.......

I have been doing that for over a year now and it doesn't do much for me, but when an update drops is when I see a speed difference.
I have done the cache, restarts, full wipe out restarts using the back panel buttons and different problems always persisted. Its been 5 days so far that I haven't had app stops or random restarts so hopefully the recent small patch did something about that.
