Sony vs. Samsung: In my opinion, when I compared 65" 850C vs similar Samsung models, I found the motion to be clearer on the Sony. I also preferred the more natural colors of the Sony. Couldn't be happier with my 850C!!!

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
My previous TV was a Samsung D7000, really loved the design but I missed the picture quality of my previous Sony sets.

This time round, I looked into the 2015 range and Android TV was a definite plus (dev possibilities maybe?)

Personally, the dealbreaker for me though was staff discount on a great package (65", soundbar and 5yr warranty).

Saved a nice amount which left me enough cash for a Sony DN860 amp and Tannoy TFX 5.1 speakers.

Still in the process of setting up the amp and wiring around the living room, but loving the TV so far - haven't gamed much on it yet but looking to do so very soon, especially with Arkham Knight due soon!

I just got my 55X850C, which is my first 4K TV, and boy am I happy with it! No cons (yet) thank god! Netflix looks amazing, even HD content looks like 4K. Highly recommended!

I have a question to other owners though: I've read the full specs, Bluetooth is mentioned as a technology, but no details of what is supported with it. Can I pair a set of headphones with it? I obviously don't have them yet, but I would get them if it's confirmed that it's possible.

Does anyone else have a problem with Amazon Instant video where you can't get any videos to load? I am logged in and my device (TV) is registered to my account. Every time I try to watch a video it comes up with "Player Error. We're experiencing a problem playing this video. If this problem persists, please contact Amazon Customer Service. Error code: UNKOWN_ERROR"

Yes it is. Bluetooth is available two ways so you can pair headphones.

No, I've never seen that error before.

Try powering off the TV completely (hold the power button), maybe the amazon app is in a bad state.

Has anyone else noticed that, since the last update, not only do we have HULU, but more importantly, the whole Android OS feels faster, less laggy?

I have one other question, if I normally have linked sound via HDMI and arc, will the Bluetooth take over to run the sound through the headphones?

Can't wait for this update to reach UK.

Android OS still a little slow for me. Pressing the input button takes a while before the list comes up too.

Use the home screen to switch inputs instead.

If you're a big fan of 3D and you're reading this post, you obviously either own or are going to buy a 4k TV. So when 4k Blu-ray is released, supposedly during the Holiday season this year, you could be faced with some unpleasant choices. At least as I understand it, there will be no 4k 3D Blu-ray titles; you'll only be able to see 3D in upscaled 1080p quality, which won't be the equal of true 4k.

To see where the problem really comes in, let's journey to a galaxy far, far away, namely to about July 2016. That's when Star Wars VII will probably be released on disc, and it will no doubt come in a variety of flavors; DVD, Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and 4k. If you want the 1080p 3D version, do you buy it separately from the 4k package, or will you have to pay a big premium for a possible combo package?

If you decide to just buy 4k from this point on, then what sense did it make to buy into a large 3D library? Or you may decide to buy 4k now in the hopes that 4k 3D Blu-ray will be coming, but that could prove to be a lot of double-dipping. Or you could decide not to buy any 4k movies that have an alternate 3D rendition.

All of that's bad enough. But it may also be possible that the new 4k Blu-ray players may not pass along a 3D signal, in which case you would have to have a 1080p 3D player hooked into your system as well as a 4k Blu-ray player, assuming you have a big financial commitment to 3D discs. You'd think developers would take that into account, but don't be surprised if the first models have nothing to do with 3D, banking on customers buying a newer model a year later.

Sadly, there may be a real possibility that developers of the new 4k disc technology have decided to cut out 3D completely. I'd hate to see that. On my Sony 850c I'm getting a superb 3D image with the minor adjustments I've made, and it's irritating to think that 3D has no future.

In closing, I'd like to ask 3D fans here a question. If the above scenario I've outlined is indeed true, how will it affect your purchase strategy when 4k is released? Will you continue to buy 1080p 3D titles, possibly using a separate Blu-ray player, or will you decide that any more money spent on 3D is a waste of your finances?
I imagine that 4k discs will include 1080p tracks, just like DTS-MA discs include DTS tracks.

Time to make my decision on a warranty and I have a quick question. From reading the about different options, it seems like Square trade will basically pay for repairs up until the point they spend the cost of the TV. Sony on the other hand will continue repairs past the cost spent on the TV or even replace the TV, if necessary?

Hi all, I'm new to this thread and AVS altogether. I just purchased the Sony XBR X850C 55 incher just this past Wednesday which I love I might add!!! Just wondering if this set does 2D to 3D conversion? I didn't see it unless Sony label's it differently? I must say for an edge lit display this tv doesn't have any clouding and minimal light bleed, and I do mean minimal. Blacks are deep and colors pop due to the triluminous display!!!! Also, 4k upscaling of my blu-rays is top notch and 4K feeds look great! I can't wait for 4K blu-ray later this year! Overall, I'm rather impressed!!! I got the 55 inch because it was going in my smaller play room so I didn't figure I need to go larger than that at the moment. I sit about 5 feet away so I can notice the difference between 1080p and 4K. Next year though, I'm going 75 inch or larger. Thanks everyone for reading and if someone could answer the question about the 2D to 3D it would be much appreciated.

It does not do 2D to 3D conversion. That was a feature of last year's model that did not make it to this one. This model is also Active 3D while the last one was Passive 3D. Not sure if Active 3D can do the conversion, but I know all the models I've seen with conversion are Passive.

Hi, i've been going thru a many pages on a few threads, trying to find out some info. But somehow i'm lost!! There is too much info!

1) Does the X850C works with SWF-BR100?
2) I have already placed an order for 55x850c, but i understand that the 65x850c is a better model in terms display panel. My sitting distance is about 7ft from the tv. Should i bite the bullet and get the 65?

Appreciate the feedback. Thanks!

How do I get around the file size restriction for uploading .jpg's?

I downloaded my first 4K movie (Fury) overnight. It took 10hrs. The pictures that I took with my iPhone were greater than 1.5 meg so what is the best way to show these without blowing the file size limit when uploading.

https://picasaweb.google.com/1166953...COq2-_rYsODUMQ

I figured it out.

Could some of you guys advise on what your gamma setting is?
I'm trying to determine if there is a common trend in settings.

New TV

Hey Guys,
I am looking for some advice. I have a 30x30 room, 7.2 surround system and need a TV. I was advised strongly to go with the 75x850c. I am looking for a TV of at least 75". I watch a lot of sports and therefore motion blur is a huge negative. I would like 4K and a smart tv. What are your opinions?
Sincerely,

I've tried that and it is still the same when it restarts. Amazon just won't stream anything for me. Hmmm

I've had my 55x850c for 2 weeks now and love it. The picture quality is excellent and the new update definitely improved the overall system. I have kodi setup and now it's freefree streaming all day long for me. Quick question though, I live in the US and am unable to get amazon or netflix in 4k. Is it the same for everyone else or is it just me?

Amazon doesn't do 4k yet on these TVs, an update will add it later.

Netflix 4k requires that you subscribe to their 11.99/mo premium service.

Software update! Just appeared on my TV in the UK... I expect it's the one the US got the other day.

Installing now. In the meantime what version is the US running currently with the latest update? I mean TV software version, not "Android" version (go to settings>about> scroll to the bottom)

Edit - After a lengthy update I had high hopes. Bugger all difference. No netflix 4k, no "Live Channels" and no noticable difference in user interface performance. Ah well.

Edit - After a lengthy update I had high hopes. Bugger all difference. No netflix 4k, no "Live Channels" and no noticable difference in user interface performance. Ah well.
