I agree, not a big deal to me.

Did any of the others that downloaded exodus hdr get a chance to watch it before mgo took them offline? I know there was like 3 others or so.

I can understand your point of view but at least Samsung could man up and admit that these are ads rather than stringing @hucfinn along several times now that they could be shutoff... And now claiming these are apps.

This isn't the first time the topic has come up. It has also been raised by several other members on this thread including @Wookie2cu , @westa6969 and @PghGuy1539 as well as others on the Jxxxxx threads. As such it would be nice if this could have a definitive answer from Samsung so the FAQ could be updated accordingly.

Oh, and let me add, at least his post was on topic pertaining to the SEK-3500U evo kit rather than turning this thread into the Home Shopping Channel.

Since the last update let you opt out and this update does also, I'm going to naively assume that this is an oversight and it will work upon the next update.

I totally understand but you know these big companies, Samsung included, they are never going to give you a definitive answer when it comes to something like this. This is a small price to pay for all the great features they gave us with the 3500. There are a lot of other companies that tout that their systems are upgradable and you never get the upgrades, paid or otherwise and your only recourse is to buy a new TV. I guess "it is what it is".

I got one of them 4k remastered blurays. Battle LA, and I used a 4k upscaling bluray. Let me tell you the colors where so damn rich I could taste and the detail was best I have seen.

Same goes for a imax bluray not as good as the 4k remastered but really close.

Probably more like beta testing this "undocumented feature" and wondering why we ALL aren't getting ads, lol.

Once the spreadsheet of features and improvements is finalized, I'm contemplating starting a Bug Log to create a record of wide reaching items such as this and the silent Voice Recognition feedback confirmed earlier today for example so we have a source to keep members informed of open and closed alerts.

All in all this has been a fantastic rollout so far of the SEK-3500U and my hats off to Samsung especially considering the number of models supported now by the full One Connect Box.

With that being said we still need to work together to ensure they are held accountable for any bugs (or "undocumented features").

I have a un65hu8500 (Costco) with golf chipset and US02 panel. I tried to check Samsung Parts to verify my panel as either 8 or 10 bit. I have the sek 3500 hooked up and the picture is definitely improved. Colors have more depth and upscaling looks improved. I compared the HDR clips to Rays picture and they look just like his before and after. Even my wife noticed the same thing. Interestingly I checked several 65 hu8550 and hu8500 with different panel types(Ts02,ts01,us02) and they all returned 8 bit on that site.
Player can you clear this up for me.

Thanks

I hear ya man! See my post above titled Bug Log.

Ultimately I will update the FAQ with pretty much that message after the next Firmware Update just so none of us have to field this question....... forever, lol.

For those seeing the ads, could you please confirm for me:

When you click the Clear All icon on the Smart Hub bar, are they removed with the unpinned Apps?

LMAO. Actually today was just luck. I was responding to one of the topic of the day posts and when I submitted it, it ended up becoming post 4500. So I swiped my original message out... Pasted in the post count message... And then pasted my original message about "You Know What" into what became post 4502.

With the firmware updates for the pre-3500 still flowing from Samsung, is it the general consensus to unplug my 3500 and load the pre-3500 firmware updates on my 8550?

I looked at the Musician's FAQ and did a thread search ans saw some information, but just wondering if this is necessary or not? And if so, is this something I need to do in the future?

3500 is now up and running on un65f9000 and all is good. Picture has improved a good amount. I came from the original ocd. Install went smooth. Ordered from best buy on wed got it fri. Only problem is the known voice feedback issue....so far. Need to play with settings but I like it. New remote is fantastic. Harmony one turns everything on then it's the new remote for everything else.

Going to throw somes of the samsung content (from Demo UHD --thanks) on a usb3 stick and check it out.

So far, on all levels of content: PQ has been markedly improved.

Now its time to mess about with calibrations. I used to use lovingdvd/yours hybrid. Any suggested starting point?

Great to know that so far it appears that we both only have "the known voice feedback issue". Misery likes company!

I recall seeing similar posts on the Jxxxxx threads so figure this is merely a growing pain that will be resolved in the nearterm.

With that being said I can probably avoid having to maintain a Bug Log and just note the hiccups in the FAQ until they are put to rest.

FYI the voice feedback continues to work as she always has on my HU7000 in the bedroom without an SEK3500 installed.

Just a heads up. The Samsung UHD pack is not needed to to watch HDR movies via MGO. I used the app inside my UN65JS9000 and I bought the movie and Maze Runner started playing immediately. I'll let you know how it goes.

NOT TRUE.

Press pause. It'll say either HD or UHD on the time bar. Your watching the HD version which is always available to you while your UHD version downloads. After u confirm this please edit your posts with this misinformation

Actually this is true and not misinformation. This is my experience and MGOs instruction and who are you to dictate my experience? The UHD was not downloading in the background.

NOT TRUE.

Press pause. It'll say either HD or UHD on the time bar. Your watching the HD version which is always available to you while your UHD version downloads. After u confirm this please edit your posts with this misinformation

I tried purchasing life of pi and it did the same thing. It's the HD version. Press pause and look. I had to call and have it refunded because the uhd download failed.

Thanks for confirming that. Just so us Canadians fully understand the issue being faced by our friends to the south, squeezed between the "Featured" icon and all the Recent apps is one single ad that changes from time to time (see thumnail picture). For some reason I imagined the Recent apps including a bunch of interspersed ads.

Oh well, if it ends up being undefeatable, which I suspect will be the case, and if it really, really, bothers some of us I think I have a cure....... Duct Tape!

I just want to thank members Player002 and Musician for all the work and dedication they've put into the subject matter of this thread. Despite the unwarranted abuse they've been subjected to by some posters, they've kept it together and continued to contribute and to help others. In the fifteen years that I've been a formal member of the AVSF, I have learned more about things AV from guys like these than I have from my many industry contacts. Thank you, gentlemen!

Bickering removed, infractions issued. Those who can't stay on-topic from here on out will be removed from the thread. Discuss the topic and not each other.

I compared the HDR clips to Rays picture and they look just like his before and after. Even my wife noticed the same thing. Player can you clear this up for me.

Thanks
What's the manufacturing date of your hu8500? It's on the ID tag on the back panel
