Most people don't want to do that and I completely understand that. You could also buy another cable from a site such as Samsung parts and attempt to splice the two together but I would be worried about that affecting performance, quality, etc.
Don't know whether this cable goes by the 6 foot rule?

itll look exactly like this. these numbers are unique to the model tv, not to each individual tv itself.

Reuse F9000 cable

I'll be upgrading from a F9000. As I have the cable inside the wall, is it possible to reuse the 2013 F9000 cable? Do you know if the performance is the same?

Thanks

Many used the same F9000 cable with the SEK-2500U and had no problems. Some did have issues although as I remember is was whether or not it worked, not a subjective judgment on performance. As I remember, supposedly the only real difference was that the new cable was specifically designed to support "in wall" installation.

If I were you, I would balance off the "in wall" design specifications (obvious plus) versus the amount of effort required to replace the cable (obvious minus). If you would prefer to continue using the original cable, try it and see if it works. If it does, great. If not, you must replace.

I have a feeling it will be delayed. I believe the update that bricked a lot of F9000 in US was trying to make F9000 compatible with sek-3500 and this failed. It seems Samsung needs to update something on F9000 panels to make it work with sek-3500...

Who is going to want to be a beta tester for the next F9000 firmware release? I will not after having my TV out of service for a week after the last update and I have the SEK-3500 on order. Maybe I should cancel the SEK-3500 order and wait a few months until the dust settles

I've order my SEK-3500 from Sparco. They originally had an ETA of 5/15/15, but now there is no ETA. Any ideas on what this means? Also, what happened last year with sparco if I may ask since i heard a few mention it? (Last year I bought the SEK-2500 from PC Nation since they had the cheapest price).

Is this your "guess" or do you have something substantial behind your feeling?

Just a guess. It is based on the facts i have seen reported here (ju9000 OCB not working with F9000, update that bricked panel mainboard, last year we needed a update too and so on).

Hope you are wrong. Also, believe last year's update was to add the "save" function required before changing the OCB.

But, guess we'll see soon enough.

Better to let the "expert" go first. I'll wait for you to try the next update and even the new OCB.

Sparco now shows an "Earliest ETA: 21-May-2015" on the SEK-3500U/ZA product page. Yesterday the earliest ETA was stated as 15-May-2015.

I read on one of the threads where a poster with a backorder from Samsung was advised it would ship the week of 24 May.

I am completely willing to try it first. Regardless if the bricked update many of us received was needed to make the F9000 compatible with the SEK-3500U (I don't believe it was) that particular update was successful on the SEK-2500u and now runs perfectly fine on my F9000 after it main board was swapped out. Some of the reasons the One Connect on the current series did not work on the F9000 could be user error or that One Connect Box did not have firmware on it allowing it to be recognized by older sets (most likely; It isn't an evolution kit). I firmly believe when the SEK-3500u gets shipped it will recognize my sets just fine after I do UHD Evolution Kit backups. Since both my sets are still in their warranty periods I will happily put my money where my mouth is.

My hero.

But, do you still think that the SEK-2500U with v.1230 should have no problems? Of course, I'll ask Samsung that same question (for whatever good that will do me) before I start the installation of the SEK-3500U.

Honestly I don't think it will have any problems whatsoever. Worst case scenario, you can reinstall the Original OCB, update its firmware, and then backup and install the sek-3500u. But again being that we have the ability to do a uhd backup and the sek-3500u factory firmware will have the F9000 as able to install. Remember, the majority of the firmware is in The OCBs themselves. Yes it installs something in the panel mainboard (some of us learned that the hard way) but I wouldn't think that matters. The SEK-3500 will likely install just fine regardless of firmware.

I pre-ordered this from Sparco back in March and noticed the new ETA as well. Of course, if Sparco filled all the pre-orders they could on May 15th, they wouldn't have any available again until their next allotment comes in.
One thing I did notice was my invoice on my account page now has today's date (May 16th) listed on it. No charge to my credit card yet but perhaps this is a sign the first batch of pre-orders will soon be on their way?

I've had this pre-ordered here in Finland for about a month now (from a German retailer). They have updated their ETA to 30th of June now, so if you live in the EU I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this thing

As a sidenote I recently had to get my F9000 (or 9005 here) serviced due to the speakers not working. They actually ended up changing the mainboard from the display and also had to change the board from the one connect box because apparently the new board in the display would not have worked with the old one connect board and would have resulted in a looping on/off sequence. This made me wonder what will happen with the new one connect box, but I'll have to wait and see.

Yep, they just called saying they have them in, and since it was on back order they asked: "Did I still want it?" SURE! So it's on it's way!

So I have to ask, how does Sparco have the OCB and no other retailer has them yet? Samsung isn't sending them out yet. And at $100 less.

Same thing happened last year with PC Nation, which is where I got my One Connect 2014 from (SEK-2500). It was $100 less and I was very unsure about it too. But it turned out fine. I should get the 2015 one in the next few days and I can verify it on here when I get it. I am not really sure how these places get it cheaper, or they don't get it cheaper and simply don't do the standard mark up to $399 with the idea they'll get more business because they undercut everyone. I really don't know. But it worked that way last year, so I'm not too worried about it this year.

The price discount I can see but how are they sending them out before everyone else including Samsung? Unless they are 2nd's.

Usually there is a coordinated release with new items like this, like a video game or movie DVD. So they pre-stock warehouses, which is what this shipment is. So instead of waiting for the official release date (whatever date that is), they are just releasing it to whomever (I assume the pre-orders first). Honestly, the price discount surprises me more than the early release. Besides, from their view, if they treat you well, you come back to them for more stuff. Standard business marketing. Admittedly, I don't know what, if anything Samsung will do about it.
