I feel like the PQ from the internal apps on the Sony is what is letting the TV down. I have no way off proving it but its like the apps dont get some processing the HDMI does. If I play things on my external player they look just a little bit sharper then the same file on the APPs.

Built in apps use less bit rate so depending what app your using will depend on quality.

If apps are of better quality of external devices, just use that device.

Amazon prime app

I'm having to side load the amazon app as it doesn't appear in my google play store. The version that I found on the net doesn't seem to work so well with the tv remote control (I can barely navigate and select anything). If anyone has side loaded the amazon app, can they link me to a version that I should be using?

My sharpness for hdmi inputs was found to be 25ish when calibrated. I set that for all inputs and video modes I use.

Do you guys think it will be a big difference between x930c and x930d?
Are a little hesitant whether i should keep my x930c or return it and order x930d.
I KNOW that there is no perfect TV, but in some scenes you can see the edge bleeding on my x930c.

Do you think it will be the same with x930d?

Please help, i just can't decide

I need to play with it some more. Ill mirror the HDMI settings and compare my external player to the internal App. I feel like the netflix app and youtube for some reason are giving me a lower bit rate the the Samsung(Tizen) equivalents. A big appeal of this TV is android on a not having to use my Popcorn hour.

But to be fair I dont have a ARC so id need the popcorn for TrueHD sound

Anyone know what would cause a filmy look to the picture when watching cable? I'm using softball's daytime settings and streaming/blu-rays look great, but when watching TV a lot of channels look washed out. Like there is a film over the picture and it's very dull. Thoughts?

Display - LG OLED
Receiver - Denon

There could be slight improvements, but enough to justify the difference in price you are most likely to pay? Nope! Remember the 930C was Sony's flagship 65" TV last year, so it's no bottom dweller.

View snow monkeys in 5k retina on youtube. It's like a 3 min video of snow monkeys in a hot bath. It should look crystal clear.

What do you guys think about the XBR-75X910C? From what I can tell the only two differences from it and the 940C are listed below.

910C - Edgelit, 940C Full array
910C - Motionflow 960, 940C Motionflow 1440

Display - LG OLED
Receiver - Denon
Speakers - Klipsch
Subs - Rythmik

You may need to adjust with the cable source as the box probably has a slightly different look to it. If they look washed out, I would recommend lowering gamma (first), if that doesn't help, try lowering the black level. Another option, raise the gamma, raise the contrast and lower the brightness. Also, double check the "external input" to be sure it is set to auto as any other setting can cause it to look washed out.

Believe me, it took a LOT of tweaking on my set to get it like I wanted. The DirecTV RVU app looks better than the DirecTV box with the exact same settings. I'm not sure why.

Regarding the setting change I had to make on Sony 940C to changing HDMI 1 to the Enhanced mode for UHD discs I play on the Samsung 8500, can I just leave it that way when just playing a 1080P bluray disc? Since it's a bit of a pain to have to go thru the TV reboot process each time you change. All together different topic to my eyes It sounds like HDR makes a more noticeable difference once you get familiar with it, as opposed to trying to compare 4K to 1080P where the difference might be hardly noticeable.

Set it and leave it. The bluray discs are fine. The HDR definitely is an upgrade to UHD, probably a bigger change than the resolution...only because the 940c does a GREAT job upscaling.

I run everything through one enhanced hdmi on my tv. Fios, roku, uhd player, and no issues.

It's possible as I like for the colors to really pop but my issue is more with the brightness than colors. Yesterday I watched Finding Nemo in 3D on my PS4 and there was definitely a difference, im starting to suspect it's either the STB or the AVR thats causing the lack of brightness. When I go to settings the actual menu is twice as bright as the screen.

I will try your settings while watching a bluray and then using the STB directly connected to the TV and then going through the AVR and see if there is any difference. Right now im using the STB going through the denon x3200 and the screen is just too dim even with brightness/gamma raised to max.

Yes I do. I will try this when I get home and get back to you guys. I hate judder/blurring with a passion because im really sensitive to it which is why I really hoped the Soap opera effect was effective on this set. So far I haven't been able to enable it.

Thinking of picking up the Disney WoW to calibrate the tv, amazon has the DVD for $10 and the bluray for $60(), im assuming the DVD will be just as effective correct?

I like these settings so far its a tad too dark. If anyone has Avengers at the beginning there is a very dark scene where the camera pans up a stair case around 40 seconds in. On the 65js8500 the scene looked incredible the stair case looked real I cant get it too look as good so far, I can see the tv is doing so kinda of processing (maybe the upscaling?) If you look at the lights reflecting on the steps its almost like its being dithered? only using a few colors.

HD Content on the JS8500 looked sharper(Avengers,House of cards, Prometheus(sp?)) , it seems to have deeper blacks(better contrast)? The difference isnt huge but even the wife notices.

X930C seems to handle motion better (I didnt like the motion on the js8500), and I like the android TV, I even like the menus once you get used to them. It also seems to do a better job with the cable feed.
Set Color Space to Auto - setting it to BT2020 can cause problems when your source content doesn't match up w/that color space.

Playing 2020 content using a 709 color space setting should wash out the colors as the larger space has to be scaled down to the smaller space so saturated colors in 2020 will map to less saturated versions in 709.

Bottom line: I would leave the color space setting on Auto and the TV will most certainly pick the color space to match the content.

910C - Edgelit, 940C Full array
910C - Motionflow 960, 940C Motionflow 1440

The 75X910C looks like an edge-lit, more expensive version of the back-lit 75X850C. I never quite understood what is better about the 75X910C over the 75X850C that is worth the price premium the 910C demands, with the potential light bleed issues w/edge lighting on the 910C.

Not saying the 910C isn't better, but I haven't seen any explanation why someone would choose the 910C over the 850C.
