I did first check the small manual that came with the TV and also went to the Help section on the TV to see if I could find out what the Color buttons on the remote are used for before asking this question. There was nothing on the TV help menu and in the small manual it just said, "Execute correspondent function at that time", what does that even mean?

My Classe 800 pre/pro has 4 buttons on there remote labeled F1 thru F4 which I use to go direct to the input I want to use while turning on the pre/pro. I was wondering if maybe you could use them to go directly to a specific Picture Mode. it would be nice to have 4 different picture settings available with the touch of one button.

The color buttons serve different functions in different apps. They are assigned by the app developer. For example, in the Amazon app, the yellow button is "home" and the blue button is "search." They are listed at the bottom of the page wiithin the app.

The color buttons have different uses, for example, in Italy digital TV uses these buttons for language, subtitles etc...

Thanks Stealth, so it's used as a shortcut in some of the streaming apps. I'll have to check the 3 streaming apps that I am using (Netflix, Amazon & YouTube)

On another note, if you are using the DirecTV RVU, Green is the "Guide" button and Blue is the "Enter" button (when entering channel numbers).

The reason I ask this is that I can actually perform certain functions on the Samsung 4K player with my Sony TV remote which I discovered by accident.

Guys, I've thought long and hard about whether I should buy the X940C or wait a few more months for the 2016 model to establish itself, well, I've pulled the trigger on the X940C - here's the reasons why.......

1) Speakers - although I have a surround system I prefer to use the tv speakers on a day-to-day basis when viewing non disc sources, therefore the speakers on the X940C will be ideal for this. Plus it keeps the rest of the family from messing with the avr lol.
2) May be a moot point, but no 3d glasses with the 2016 model.
3) I'm hearing nothing else from Sony to say that the 2016 model is superior to the X940C, other than the "X1 processor has been tweaked for improved upscaling" - well, I can live with that.
4) Personally I prefer the reassuring bulk of the X940C as opposed to the new model with its thin panel - I could well be wrong but imo thin panels may contibute to poor screen uniformity i.e. clouding; torchlight effect etc.
5) The X940C has garnered excellent professional reviews, and plus YOU guy's all seem to love it as well
6) Apart from not supporting Dolby Vision (though neither does the 2016 model) the X940c appears to be fully future proof - for a while at least.

Cheers,
Steve.

Edit : Apologies for the earlier half-baked post - my dopey cat jumped up onto the keyboard and hit the enter button lol.

Okay 3 quick questions about the Sony X940C..

1) Any subwoofer can work with it? Just confirming..
2) What is the best video settings I should apply to get optimal picture quality/colors..any guides?
3) Is it just my unit..or does the "normal" bigger remote randomly stop working at times...sometimes have to which to the smaller touch pad remote to move to menus when that happens...
4) Is the 4/5 year Costco Squaretrade warranty for $90 the one everyone gets?

Thanks!

One of the guys from Abt set up my TV when it was delivered. I reset the TV and did the setup again and now the OTA channels look like they are supposed to. The ghosting is a different matter. Mr. Peabody & Sherman had a lot of ghosting but Jack The Giant Killer had none to speak of. I'll have more time to check out set this evening. I'm glad to hear that some here are not experiencing the ghosting.

Hi there!
I wrote 5 times Sony Italy and don't answer my question.
Yesterday I called in Germany and the girl who answered checked and there is no hdmi 2.0a update for Europe (she wasn't a technician anyway).
I also wrote to Sony Japan two days ago and still waiting for their answer... Hoping that anyone will answer!
Did you check with Sony Holland?
I also checked that in all European Sony there were a fault in the last firmware that has been released on February.
Did you know?
