The wife will be happier with the 930c and I think you will too. The Sony has the best 1080i/720p processing and Vizio probably the worst. Wives tend to watch more from these sources. Also at $2000 I think the 930c is the better value anyway. Both TVs have their advantages but when you add them all up the Sony wins. It all depends on how much 1080i and below TV watching you will do.

New here...I just bought an X930C open box at Best Buy, and it should be delivered this coming weekend. We got what I think is a smokin' deal on it, but it was in part because the legs were not included. I tracked those down online at Encompass Parts. I wish I could post direct links, but I don't have enough posts.

My question is about the screws that attach those legs. I'm not sure if those will be included either, so I was hoping someone here either knew their dimensions or wouldn't mind pulling a screw out of the back of their TV to measure one. The website that carries the legs lists a size of M5x16. I would order there, but they're a bit of a ripoff and I should be able to track them down locally without too much difficulty.

I see in the instruction manual that M6 screws (of varying length depending on what you're doing) are used to secure the back of the TV to safety straps and such, so it's possible that the same diameter screws are used on the legs. I searched through this thread and around online, but didn't have any luck. I'm guessing the M5x16 screws linked above are correct, but I was hoping someone else might be able to confirm one way or the other.

Thanks in advance for any help here!

Just to answer my own question: each legs is in fact held in place by 2 M5x16 screws, with a thread pitch (I think) of 0.8. Encompass Parts sells the screws for $8/screw; but you can pick them up at the hardware store and probably have all four plus fender washers for around $2.

I have a whole home surge. But I also use 2 APC J35's and 2 APC S10's. I got the S10's cheap on clearance because they were silver. Normal retail was $900 got each for $275. Silver was fine for $700 off.

Just wanted to provide an update. A week and half later, the part Sony ordered for my 940C finally came in and the repair guy showed up today. It was one of the circuit boards that he replaced and the TV is now back up and running. Thank God. I just bought the wireless sub to go with this TV so I'm happy it is all fixed.

You need to make sure what you are watching is actually HDR or the image will look really bad and over saturated. Make sure color is set to 2020. I think Marco Polo on Netflix is HDR, as well as some Amazon Prime has some too. Your TV should kick in to HDR mode when you play HDR material. Then you can make fine adjustments from there.

Are there any remote shortcuts to change the picture mode? I'm trying to get my Harmony remote programmed for use, but it's complicated if I want to change picture settings, since it seems to involve hitting menu, then arrowing around a bit, etc. Is there not a single button command that will cycle through picture modes? If not, what have you all done to program Harmony remotes most effectively?

I bought one of these from a local guy who sales refurbs...
It has super thin black line down the middle... but that is the only flaw, and you barely see it.

What I would like to purchase, would be the legs... can you send me a link to the LEGS for this TV... I have it on a generic Metal Frame stand... and I don't like it.
I am also looking for the remotes.

Also, does anyone else have issues with Netflix streaming above 480p?
Should I just un-install netflix app and re-install it?
I have the 900B downstairs, and Netflix (non-Android) works fine.
But on this TV, the other 4K apps work fine, just not the Netflix. I have tried it about 8 times... and once, it did 4K (with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and once with 1080p. Amazon content plays fine...

I paid $699 for my TV... but like I said... it has a black hairline down the middle. You can't notice on dark scenes, at all... and it disappears completely when watching 3d... I wonder if Direct TV will cover the repairs on it...

If you have the 940c, the below link will give you a starting point. A word of caution, copying settings does not give you an accurate calibration, as sets differ. The best thing would be to either pay for a professional calibration, or to at least use one of the respected basic calibration discs, such as Disney's WOW.

I have a question about developer mode and side-loading apps.

I'd like to install the 'Watch ABC' app onto my TV, but it isn't in the version of the Google Play store in the TV's menu. Apparently I can install ES File Explorer, and then after turning on 'developer mode' side-load the app onto the TV from a phone.

My big questions are:

1. Does this void the warranty in any way?

2. Is there any chance that doing this will screw-up future firmware updates or cause the TV to potentially become 'bricked' ?

Curious if the repair guy had to put your TV down on its face or was he able to change out the circuit board while it was still upright on the stand?

Thanks for the heads up on pricing! I bought one three weeks ago from Best Buy when it was $300 more and I called them about their new price and they are refunding me $300!

Are you sure it's HDR? The only HDR program released thus far is Marco Polo. There are others coming, but not until the next quarter.

The prices for parts are ridiculous. I originally bought a floor model and it didn't come with the spacers that Sony includes with the TV for wall mounting so I called and each one was $25 so with shipping it would have been $60 for what basically looks like a $5 part.

Just so you know that is a bad screen to fix the line would be worth more than the cost of the TV.....

You are correct Sir! Marco shows up HDR. Far as I can tell The rest just UHD. Wonder why TV switches to HDR. Sometimes it does, other times no. In the settings somewhere. I'll figure it out. Thanks CC.

I could be wrong but as far as I know Better Call Saul won't even be coming to Netflix in HDR. You may want to check again??? So far only Netflix originals and Netflix produced movies are set for 4K HDR, for this year at least.

I was at Best Buy yesterday and had a good look at the 940d. I know best buy isn't the best place to review a TV, but my 940c at home looks way better. In addition to the inferior image, the 940d looks cheaply made. It looks like something you would expect from Vizio.

It looks like you found it, but in case you need further direction:

-Go to encompassparts dot com

-On the left hand side, enter "x930c" in the "Search by Model Number" field

-Click on the TV image that pops up, and this will bring up the list of all available parts

-The legs are part numbers 4-562-464-01 and 4-562-465-01.

Yeah, the legs are super pricey...but you don't have much choice. I also found them on partsimple dot com for $79 per leg, which is a bit better, but still pricey. I would have ordered from them, but I didn't find their website until I had already ordered from encompass.

I picked my TV up for $1600 open box from Best Buy, and it has no issues as far as I can tell. Congrats on the great deal you got on yours!

I've had the 930c for about three weeks now. I just started to notice a clicking sound coming from what sounds like the speakers? Its real fast and brief, but happens about every 3 minutes or so. Is this just the speakers "breaking in"? Anyone have any similar situations like this? Thanks in Advance.

I haven't done it in a while but I think all you need to do is enable unsigned apps to run and copy the file off pretty much any device. A phone would work but so would a usb drive.

The big risk is making sure you get the file from a trusted source. Since it isn't coming from the play store anyone could put any code in there they wanted to.

Next issue is will the Watch ABC app work well on the TV from an interface perspective. Most native Android apps expect a touch interface of some sort and may be difficult to navigate with a traditional remote.

As far as bricking your TV unless the app has malicious code in it the chance of bricking a device is pretty low. I won't say it is impossible but it wouldn't keep me up at night.

I don't know about the warranty issue. On the one hand, it seems like they probably wouldn't even notice. On the other, manufacturers seem to always be looking to find ways to not honor the warranty.

I side-loaded some apps when I first got my set but found that while they would run most of them pretty much were unusable with a remote.

Have you tried casting the Watch ABC app from another device?

Does anyone's menu freeze up with changing the settings occasionally? Mine does it all the time. I had to get a board replaced and it is still doing it. I'm almost about to just tell Sony I want the TV replaced because it is very annoying. It is always freezing up when changing a setting or navigating the home menu.

The big risk is making sure you get the file from a trusted source. Since it isn't coming from the play store anyone could put any code in there they wanted to.

Thanks. I didn't realize I couldn't get it from the Play Store, hmmm. I tried casting for about an hour last night, but I couldn't get it to work. I installed Google Cast on my iPhone, and it recognizes the TV, but there's no 'cast' icon once the app loads, and when I tried to cast from a chrome tab on my desktop it couldn't find the TV.

Maybe I can figure it out tonight. I have an old Android phone laying around, perhaps it will like working with that better.

Mine has done that a couple of times, I just get out the touch remote and it instantly responds to that one.

My 930C has been doing this too. I thought it was my RMF-TX200U remote I just got loosing connection. But maybe it's the TV.

Does it happen with both remotes, or just the BT remote? Try unpairing and repairing the remote, or unpair the RMF-TX200U and use it as IR to see if you still have the issues. Everything but the voice entry should still work.
