After reading some of the recent posts regarding 3D it sounds like I should make sure Motion Flow is off when watching 3D? Also should I be using Game picture mode when watching 3D? I have been just using the settings that I have dialed in to my liking in the Standard picture mode for 2D viewing. It's seems I remember someone posting that when watching 3D you should use the Vivid picture mode, which is a picture mode I would never use when just watching 2D.

Has anyone heard any rumors about an Android OS update that was rumored to hit this summer?

Also without being rude. I had a friend who said cross talk/ghosting? He claimed to had none. I said thats impossible and came over to his house. I pointed it out all over the image... and he was like.. oh i see... its everywhere..... So without being rude to you, its probally because you dont know what you need to look out for. As all x940c will have xtalk. Some movies have way less than others. But they all have xtalk and ghostin .
Had the same issue. Reset HDR in an obscure menu. Looked great! Really popped.

So I did a search but couldn't find anything on this, looking for some help. I have 940C and dolby digital through Netflix works fine but I can only get stereo through Youtube and Amazon Prime apps through the TV. I have HDMI from TV to my Pioneer Elite receiver. As I said, Netflix works fine passing dolby digital but I can only get stereo through others. I'd like to know if there's a setting I need to change or if it's just the TV. If it's the TV, I'll just use my Roku but I'd rather not have to bother with it if I don't have to. Thanks.

What are your HDR settings now after the last update some settings changed did you refer back to the previous firmware HDR settings?

How does Xbox One S work with this? I heard the HDR is a different format - wanted to see if anyone has tried one yet with this TV.

Help finding settings!

Good Afternoon All,

I'm having trouble finding recommended settings for day time, night time, and HDR viewing and was wondering if anyone could link me to them? I know I saw some settings previously posted here and am just having a hell of a time tracking them down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

It's not the tv, it's the apps that have to support DD 5.1. Unfortunately I read somewhere that Amazon is trying to ween off of Surround because of 4K HDR - BIT rates being so high. Until the average broadband speeds hit at least 25 mb, I don't see Amazon and others support 5.1. I know they support it on Roku 4k etc but those are standalone boxes. Data still cost them money and sending data for Surround when most people are using built in tv speakers is what probably keeps them from updating tv apps to support surround. I think they figure if you really want surround you'll buy a standalone box.

First post here. Hi. So, I'm a bit confused, especially by attempting to use my X-Box One S to play back UHDs. In the 4k section of my X-Box it let's me click the "allow HDR" but then if I check it says that my TV doesn't support 10 bit at 24, 50 or 60hz. Tells me the same when I load up Mad Max: Fury Road on it. Am I missing something here? I was under the assumption the 930c was a full 10 bit HDR-Tv. I've checked to see if there was a firmware update or anything, but I'm up to date on those. Any help would be much appreciated.

Make sure the HDMI port your XBox is connected to is set to Enhanced.

Is everything working now? I'm on the fence about getting this...I would strictly be getting it for the Blu Ray Player.

No 4k Olympics for me - very disappointed. I have Comcast, and apparently only LG and Samsung 4k TV Owners deserve the Olympics.

Post XBox One S + 940C

So I just got an XBox One S so I can play 4K BluRay movies on my 940C. I've run into a few issues:

1.) The 940C keeps losing signal when watching HDR BluRay movies on the XBox One S. I have two theories:
a.) the 940C doesn't like my AVR between it and the XBox - may have to connect it directly to the 940C
b.) My HDMI cables aren't premium certified. Ordered some premium cables... (the one that came with the XBox is too short)

2.) Sometimes there is lag when playing BluRay movies on the XBox One S. Hoping it's related to #1.

3.) When I can play HDR BluRays or Netflix streams, the black bars on the top/bottom are more grey than black. If I adjust the Black Level to around 40 that seems to clear it up, but I'm concerned I'm missing detail in the rest of the picture. Am I missing a setting here? The HDMI port is set to Enhanced and I've left pretty much everything else set to Auto. I'm also not a big fan of the Expert 1 picture mode - make everything look a bit red.

Check out my post below. Also, if you want Dolby Atmos/DTS:X you may want to hold off because the XBox One S currently doesn't support bitstreaming.

Most likely your HDMI cables, I got 2 free Hi -Speed HDMI cables when Directv hooked up my 4k boxes and I use those 2. One to SC-99 AVR and AVR to X940C. 10 bit @60hz 4:4:4 works flawlessly. My understanding is regular 8 bit 4k, etc consumes 300mhz frequency on HDMI cables which most HDMI cables can handle. The higher data intensive 4k @60hz 4:4:4 requires higher speed cables that can throughput 600mhz. Unfortunately not even premium certified cables are all able to run this new standard. To better your chances of seamless integration use shortest possible cables.

Speaking of Directv, I can't get over what a great picture I get just from Directv due to the fantastic upscaling this TV provides. The wife and I had watched the last episode of season one on bluray of the Outlander show on my Pioneer Kuro Plasma elite 151FD which is now in the Master bedroom and than proceeded to watch episode one of season two on Starz and the picture was considerably better than the bluray. On another note Sony previously had told me that my little voice control remote would be fixed with the new firmware update and that didn't happen. I called them up and they asked me to send them a copy of my Best Buy receipt which I did via an e-mail attachment and that once they got it they would be sending me a replacement. Yesterday I get a call from them and now they are telling me that there's another firmware update that will be coming that will make it work again. I asked them if this might be the Marshmallow firmware update and the person I was talking with said he did not know. At least the last firmware update did fix the issue with the occasional 10 second freeze of the regular remote as it hasn't happened again since that firmware update. I know there have been a number of posts about the remote freezing for a short time and than it would start working again, but haven't seen anybody post confirming that.

You get what you pay for!

On a brighter note the Directv 4k feed isn't as great as it could be. Just one event a day and then repeats 4 - 5 times for that day. I saw the opening ceremony in 4k then Judo. Believe me it blows once you've gotten over the WOW factor because they are on 24 day delay. Next year will be the year of 4K and then we will have real content to watch. I hope NBA, NFL, etc. Get on board the 4K train soon.

I had same issue with 940 C and xbox one S. I even contacted microsoft and complained about the issue as the samsung player didn't seem to do it. Only thing i have found is lowering the black level to around 38 and turning up black adjust and adv. Contrast enhancer.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who sees it. I even did a full tv reset cause i thought it was from the last update. Also I've had it kick out to a black screen in between menus and once towards the end of a movie.
Have tried every HDMI cable switch and that has nothing to do with it.

Yup. I looked ahead and it's one judo day after another. They're planning day 4 of judo!! Do they think the audience is that excited about judo?

I'm disappointed with this as well.

Judo is fine, but if they are going to keep playing one sport, couldn't it have been beach volleyball? Where we could have outdoor shots and scenery to show off that 4K image????

I found an NBC olympics app that I downloaded to my Android Phone and Tablet, it allows me to stream content and watch the sports you are interested in.

You can then use the Google Cast Feature of the TV to watch it on the big screen.

I found an NBC olympics app that I downloaded to my Android Phone and Tablet, it allows me to stream content and watch the sports you are interested in.

You can then use the Google Cast Feature of the TV to watch it on the big screen.
Appreciate the input for the NBC Olympics app but I believe we are all interested in seeing the Olympics in 4K. The only available 4K is whatever they have decided which is 5 days of Judo. I mean seriously that could have been a perfect opportunity to demonstrate what basketball, soccer, swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, etc. Could look like instead they give us Judo argh!

The other problem I have is I'm not receiving the Dolby ATMOS sound because I'm using the built in Directv App makes me regret not keeping my 4K box. Last but not least what happened to it being displayed in HDR?
