thanks in advance guys

Netflix switches to HDR when the program has it encoded automatically. You can check on picture settings whether hdr is selected. Shows like Marco Polo and the Netflix Adam Sandler movies have HDR.

I use the default sound setup but lower the bass a little for the subwoofer. Sound settings would be nice if people can share theirs here.

It doesn't switch to HDR because neither of those shows are HDR. I'm patiently (not so patiently) waiting for Luke Cage to be released in HDR.

Well, since I have no game system, I have no idea about the PS4Pro. However, every other device I have automatically switches when HDR is detected. So, if you are switching manually, most likely something is wrong or you aren't really getting HDR from the PS4Pro.

Marco Polo is a great one to test. You'll see the changes immediately.

Even in 4K, you eventually begin to say, Hey, this is so much better than even blu-ray, I may never go back to normal tv.

Hey dude I gave you the suggestion of restarting your Netflix because my UHD list is still showing. Otherwise I would have admitted something was wrong. That being said dont panic. Go to search bar and search UHD or 4K. You will get mostly the same results.

Yup you were right Netflix has been updated and UHD section removed. That being said I am sure it will come back this has happened to me plenty of times in the past where certain sections disappear and then they come back a few days later. I must have gotten the update later but Netflix does it without your consent and without having to update Netflix App itself. They do it on their side similar to how cable/satellite providers do. This new look has a backwards look to it, look at where it says HD 5.1 it now has outlined border vs the modern look of the white box and black font. Anyways this looks cheesy and reminds me of when Netflix first started streaming.

Thanks. My version is the same, but the release is different. Yours shows 11/10, mine is 5/23.

UI Build:

release-20160523_96-sapphire <-- that's what mine shows.

So, the UI changed.

So I just bought a PS4 Pro, I managed to set it up properly and the PS4 is running at 2610p, and in the screen settings shows I have HDR/Deep Colors are recognized and set on automatic.

Now, question is since I play in Game mode, If I play a HDR games will the TV switch itself to the "HDR Video" picture setting automatically? Or will it somehow activate HDR within the Game mode picture setting?

I only tried a HDR Youtube video so far on the PS4 Pro, but only saw really vibrant colors when I switched manually to HDR Video, as the TV itself did not do anything automatically. How can I know for sure if the TV is outputting at HDR?

Also, when I switch the setting from game to HDR Video the menu on the PS4 does look washed out with much less detail. When playing Netflix (Better Call Saul) I notice colors are much better when choosing the HDR Video option, yet this is not HDR right? How can I check if Netflix is outputting in HDR for that matter? Would be great if someone could clarify all this!

Thanks.

PS4 Pro does not support anything HDR except for a few select games at the moment. They will eventually update the apps to take full advantage of Netflix HDR but at the moment it is not supported. If you are manually selecting HDR on tv then you are not receiving HDR content. Your tv will automatically switch to HDR mode when it is detected. You also need to make your sure your tv is HDR compatible and that you have changed HDMI settings in menu settings of tv to accept HDR 4:4:4 10 bit content. Consult your tv manual for that portion.

I know this is rudimentary but I couldn't find it in this thread per my Google Fu or in the manual. How can I tell if the content is in HDR? I've set my PS4 input to Enhanced, have the PS4 connected directly to TV (no PSVR passthrough), and am playing COD:IW. It should be HDR right? I just don't know how to confirm. The only other issue I can think of would be the HDMI which is ~1 year old and would require me fiddling around behind the wall to switch out so hopefully that's not it. Is this HDR? Is there anything else I should do if not?

Thanks, yes HDMI is set to enhanced, and HDR readiness is detected by the PS4 Pro in the screen status checkup in the settings. So I suppose it will switch automatically, will check that with and HDR game later.

Now my question is why does some video look better in the HDR Video settings for non-HDR video?

Thanks for this. I believe this is the same as Picture setting on the remote, and after doing a little research looks like MW:IW doesn't actually have HDR (IGN and perhaps other guides may be incorrect on this point) so turns out I'm all good but was just relying on bad info thinking there was an issue.

I couldn't resist the deal Best Buy has right now on the Samsung K8500 - even came with a $10 gift card - so I pulled the trigger. Will see how I like it and if it's all good, will keep it as my main player, or will wait for the Oppo or Panasonic players to drop in price and pick up one of those. I'm excited to watch The Revenant in 4K HDR! I still had my Samsung 64F8500 as my main tv when it came put, so just watching the regular blu-ray on this set would yield a much better picture. Had a Birthday party at our house for our youngest son last week and had the 940c on football and the amount of people that congregated in our living room in amazement of the picture was awesome. They were just watching a feed from DIRECTV and thought it was the best picture they had ever seen. I had to agree with them.

Hi all, I was wondering if you all are getting HDR with Xbox One S.

I have attached an image from Xbox's Display Details, are you all getting the same/similar results with your 940c? If not, should I try different cable/settings? Please advise.
