Fair enough, I cannot believe what they offered as a replacement.

wow, not even close to similar TV- hold firm for a 940E- u want a 75" FALD TV as replacement, u're willing to sacrifice not getting the 940C speakers but insist on Sony FALD replacement. i've also SquareTrade warranty so i hope they come through.
Yrs ago Sony offered a few lower grade TVs as replacement for my 60" Rear Proj XBR- i held firm -told them i bought a top of line XBR & wanted similar TV as replacement- i paid few hundred & got a FALD 52hx909 as replacement which i still have in Bedrm.

That’s exactly how my process started. Laughable!

Just let them know how knowledgeable you are and they will give better offers.

I finally gave in and accepted a 900E for my 930C. Only because I already had someone ready to buy the 900E from me.

So I have their cash and I’m still using my 930C. (I don’t even notice the bug looking mark anymore.) But when I’m ready, I’ll use the 900E cash towards a Z9D(or E).

You may end up with a 940E because of the FALD. But I personally am not sure if the Square Trade warranty is good for Flagship TVs. I’d rather have the cash value vs a lower model replacement.

Good luck!

Here's the latest email. I'm starting to get a bit frustrated since I've already had two conversations with them about FALD not being negotiable.

Hi PAUL,

Thank you for your response. After further research we are able to provide the model below. It is an LG Tv. We are aware that you prefer SONY, but in order to match some of the specifications while staying within your limit of liability we were able to locate this LG model.

Please review and let us know how you would like to proceed.
Below are details about the alternate TV model:

Depending on availability, your replacement TV may be New or Refurbished (click here for more details)

Brand: LG
Model #: 75SJ8570
Size: 75
Display Resolution: 4K SUHD
3D: No
Smart TV: Yes

See! They are just being difficult. And that "new or refurbished" statement had me even more frustrated. I would stay on the "you want a Sony" kick. Also, use the 3D as another reason.
They're going to say not many TV's have it anymore. But I responded, "mine did". They ended offering me a 930D as well as the 900E. Since the 930D had 3D, it was hard for me to keep fighting that. So I agreed to the 900E since it was a 2017 TV and I had a buyer. But maybe you could use that as a reason to reject their LG offer.

Again, I think SquareTrade warranty is perfect for a mid-range TV or lower. You may end up with an even better replacement. But for a Flagship, I think I'm going to go with the overpriced manufacturer's extended warranty (or Best Buy's). That way, I'll get the equal replacement or a buy out.

I purchased my squaretrade warranty at costco for a Sony 940c which i got at crutchfield- b4 purchasing squaretrade I had several email with the ST folks re the value of my 940c and what warranty coverage value would be placed on it. I had to send the receipt in after the purchase & the value shown on my account is my purchase price of $6k-
I supposed if i had bought my TV after the newer model came out i would have bought it for $3000-4k & that purchase value would be placed on my warranty- If i had to use the warranty, perhaps my value wouldn't be sufficient to get a current Sony replacement if the new model prices were still high- not certain-

Yeah, the “limit of liability” is definitely the issue here. I just wish they would have said, “What TV under $3200 do you want,” instead of pretending the garbage they’re offering me is a reasonable replacement based on specs. I guess at $3200 the 900E is the best I can do.

If you want a FALD set rather than settle for a set that you may not be happy with- see if you can get them to give you $3k cash then buy a 940e FALD when it goes down to $3.5k again. Or offer to give them cash to get TV u want now. maybe worth a try.

940C and Apple TV 4K

Something interesting, after finally deciding on the desired ATV output settings I enabled Standard for HDMI output on the TV, even though it was already set to Enhanced. Then enabled Enhanced again, The picture really came to life. Possibly the TV wasn't locked in correctly after trying out so many different output resolutions from the ATV during the last few weeks.

Just figured there might be someone out there who would want to try this as well since most of us ATV 4K owners have been forced to play with its output settings due to the lack of a native resolution option.

Thanks for your response. Since we are able to locate a comparable model replacement television with specifications that meet or exceed those of the current model, we are unfortunately not able to provide you a reimbursement at this point in time.

The requested option of the XBR75X900E is available and will carry the FALD as requested. Please let us know when you are ready to proceed with your replacement television. We do want to get you up and running as soon as possible.

Below are details about the alternate TV model:

Depending on availability, your replacement TV may be New or Refurbished (click here for more details)

Brand:Sony
Model #:XBR75X900E
Size:75 Inch
Display Resolution:4K Ultra HD
3D:No
Smart TV:Yes
This is really what I should accept, right? At this point, I think it's the best TV they can get me at around $3000. Should I push back for new and make sure it isn't refurbished? I'm sure the fine print in the warranty says I have to accept either so I'm not even sure if that's worth it.

That’s pretty much word for word to their response to me.

I’m thinking with the 900E still being in production, it should hopefully be new. My replacement was.

Are you going to keep your 940C? Or is it not watchable?

I moved it down to the kids media room already. They probably don’t even notice, but that spot was all I could see when I looked at the TV.

Glad to hear yours was new. Thanks for all your help!

If there’s a bug in there, a suction cup could probably separate the layers of the screen and glass enough that it would get free and fall to the bottom.

Unfortunately, mine is not a bug.

Didn’t see any perceivable differences. American Vandal on Netflix looked great but that could be the source material over any update benefits.

i updated to latest 10/3 via usb- can't say i notice any difference. In past i've used Roku Prem+ or the sony 800 uhd blue ray to stream amazon stuff as the internal 940c had studdering/skipping when changing the volume with remote. I used the 940C internal app to stream amazon for the last week & it seems to be normal again- no skipping/studdering. Not sure when this changed as i've not used TV app in awhile- but it does seem to work fine now.

Quick question guys. Going to be plugging my PC into my x930c to test it out on higher resolutions such as 1440p and 4K. Should I plug it into any hdmi port or a particular one? Will make sure advanced HDMI is enabled on the port. I just want to make sure that 4K at 60hz is theoretically possible and isn't being stopped by a wrong port or me forgetting to change a little setting. Does anyone have any experience with this? Would any nvidia settings need to be changed? It's a gtx 1070 graphics card that I would be plugging into. Thanks in advance.

I have a Nvidia GTX 960 in a HTPC that runs through a Denon X4200W to the ARC channel on my 940C. It does so without problem. The HDMI4 is advanced and the first image demonstrates what the TV is receiving.

Standardly, it will be recommended to be full pixel in your TV settings under Screen/Display Area. Mine is set at "Normal" and does not allow adjustment. It may be that I have a non-standard display resolution set on my setup.

As you can see my Nvidia resolution is set at 3840x2160 since full resolution 4096x2160 causes significant overscan on the 940c so that the desktop "falls" off the edges of the screen.

This setup produces a wonderful picture and I've had no problems.

I updated and havent seen any changes, as of yet. I will dig deeper and see if I can find anything. The one thing I did notice is that the apps update under settings/about is gone. Update number is 6.01

The only thing I noticed was in apps some are grey boxes and something call samba which other model tv owners are reporting problems with? Just saw on the Z9D thread that someone says their HDR was affected but in a bad way after the update? I hope there are no negatives to our models!

Sony 55 A9F
Panasonic DP-UB820
Sony UBP-X700
Samsung HW-K950 Dolby Atmos sound bar
