940C owner here. My panel has begun flashing a grayish color horizontally across the top 1/5th of the screen during initial 3-D playback. It is remedied by restarting it, the OPPO, and my processor. It is not remedied by solely restarting the TV. I believe this happened before and was rectified after a FW update. I do have the latest FW. Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone aware of a permanent solution?

I'm surprised Sony still supports these TVs with firmware updates. I'll update and see if anything improved.

No specific HDR Game mode that I have seen at least. Only the one HDR mode I believe and to get the better *input lag* in games using that single HDR mode you need to turn off most of the processing and especially the Motionflow.

It is a bit annoying having to turn on the HDR settings to watch HDR movies again from my Apple TV 4K then off again once I want to use the Xbox One X for gaming. I wish I could at least switch the Football Mode picture setting out for Game mode instead. Or assign a button for my universal remote to toggle Game mode on and off. ...first world problems eh?

You'll want to keep Motionflow set to at least Custom with both Smoothness and Clearness set to Min, as turning Motionflow off in HDR raises the black level.

I have not received my update yet I keep checking also tv turned off twice on me last night and I don’t have it set to turn off with in activity. Although I was watching With my fire stick so I’m wondering if that was the cause?

It's a really simple update process to download to a USB stick if you're so inclined.

Who can recommend a sturdy wall mount for this TV? I’m going to look on monoprice.
But anyone have their 930C up on a wall mount for a good long time without any issues?

I started messing with picture adjustments for the 1st time in awhile last night, and I was watching an Apple TV 4k through HDMI 3. I would hit the action menu and it was in HDR mode watching the Big 10 channel. It had it grayed out and would not let me change to any other settings. How can I get the TV to let me change to the other settings. I wanted to check Ciniema home/ pro, etc. I tried a tv Reset, and it didn't change my options... it was still stuck in a grayed out (unchangeable) HDR mode on HDMI 3. Any ideas?

Are you using an Apple TV 4k? If so, set the dynamic range to native.

yes I am using an Apple TV 4k. I didn't think I saw native as an option... Maybe I wasn't under the Dynamic Range. I'll check again. Thank you!

The proper ATV setting is match dynamic range so SDR and HDR will be displayed without any conversion.

I don't notice any significant changes with this update. I'm guessing it's mostly bug fixes and security patches for Android.

The only big change was the HDMI Dynamic Range setting being brought back, other than that I haven't noticed any other changes.

I just got a firmware update notification this morning which I did. Is it still recommended to do a complete factory reset after doing a firmware update? I seem to remember reading this. I know with my Oppo 205 4K player they recommend doing that after a firmware update.

Thanks CC it's good to know that you haven't had any issues with this latest update. I did it yesterday even though I haven't had any issues. So you did not do a factory reset after this last update if I'm understanding you correctly? I would rather avoid having to do it since it entails having to redo all my settings.

I think opposite:
Are you sure that custom-clearness - min and motion flow-off have difference in peak brightness? AFAIK Min means off.

I've had my 930C for about 2 years on this mount with no problems whatsoever. It's pretty easy to set up, sturdy and is full motion

Since getting my 77” OLED, I really don’t watch much on the 940c. Although the picture is still very good, I have to say the Sony Android OS still drives me nuts. It’s so slow and takes so long to boot up and stabilize, it feels like a 10 year old computer. I can’t believe Sony still sticks with this miserable OS in their new TVs...at least their iteration of the Android OS.

Me personally using 940C only as 4K monitor+speakers, with all the whistles provided... 3D, Motion flow e.t.c.
Today we have no such TV on the market. But Android sucks for sure.

I'm astounded at how well this TV can upscale 480p content to be watchable at my 8ft viewing distance. I watched Christmas Vacation on DVD last week, which I'm sure is not top quality to begin with, and it was perfectly acceptable. Is Sony really that far ahead of the manufacturers on this? I read lots of complaints about upscaling on these forums but never about Sony.

Some transport advice please.
I’m selling my 930C to a friend.
No box obviously, he has a Acura MDX so it should fit it the back of it. Should it be laid down face/screen down on blanket/comforter or on its back? Not goin far either 5 min ride,10 min tops! He is goin to mount it also. Was thinking maybe install vesa brackets while on my table top stand also so this way can hang it in one move and then adjust if we need too.

It's best to transport it upright if at all possible (U-haul trailer?). If you must lay it down, I would probably lay it on its back. DON'T put bubble wrap right next to the screen to protect it (it will likely leave marks from the bubbles). Just make sure it is secured and won't move while in motion.
