Haha. The sub was originally paired with my Home Theater system. I had read earlier in this thread that you could hook up a wired or wireless sub but no one answered my question on how to hook up a wired one. So for two years that I had this tv, I didn't know all you had to do was plug it into the headphone jack. I only found out when I was playing around in the Sound menu last month and I saw that I could switch the output of the headphone to subwoofer! I bought a y splitter right away and lo and behold!!!!!! Hahahahah

Originally I tend to turn off the clear sound plus and all those features. I usually go in and customize the Equalizer to add a little more bass. But since adding the su woofer I realized the difference that dsee hx adds so I turned that on but even more bass was pumped when I turned the auto volume to on. Then 3 days ago I turned on clear audio again and it turns out it engages dsee hx anyways and may apply other settings that I don't see. So in more simpler terms. Just Clear Audio+. Lol. Yeah it's great to get this thread alive again. It's really such an amazing tv from 2015.

I first went into Best Buy looking for a $2000 replacement for my 75" Sammy that developed a green vertical line In less than 2 years. Luckily Amex had extended warranty. Sammy repair said I would need to get a new screen. The Amex guy actually recommended that I use the $1500 repair cost to get a new TV instead.

So there I was with my wife looking at a 75" Sony in the magnolia section. I asked for the remote and when I pressed the menu button. All of the sony's activated. The 940c was sitting on the lower level and I did t notice it until I started playing with the brightness settings. That TV's brightness and color pretty much blew away all the other models they had on display at the time. I was like "WTF is that!" lol

My wife agreed that it was the best thimg she had ever seen. So we both agreed to chip in and get it. Never regretted it since. I come home everyday and still smile whether I watch HDR or SDR content. The menu could use a good speed up but since I got the Roku Stick it don't bother me anymore.

I'll try and keep this thread alive with new games that I try in HDR on this. PS5 is gonna be crazy on this set come next year.

I'm still using Game mode, and then letting the television switch to HDR Video mode from that. While in Game Mode I make sure Motionflow is off before the HDR Video switch. Then when in HDR Video I also make sure Motionflow is off. That's probably the major input lag generator...per Sony at least.

Not sure what else will also add additional input lag as I haven't tested it. I would assume anything that adds additional video/picture processing might add input lag ie.) "Black Level Adjust, Advanced Contrast Enhancer, Live Color, Reality Creation...etc." How much and if it adds any input lag at all? I wish I knew. But, if I am going to lose in a video game, I will be looking at the nicest picture I can while doing it...almost.

To me Game mode is still the best. Im currently trying out graphic mode, like stated earlier i noticed some blurring in that mode. Tonight im going to try out both modes to see if i see blurring any on the roof tops or if it was just a server issue or slow loading.

Volume at 7? My normal "regular" volume is 15 to 20. 7 is when I try not to disturb anyone.

I think that will be hard to do since photos don't really capture what HDR looks like.

I am playing 4k games, so my Clearness setting is at 1 at least, because I don`t like blurring. But I can`t use higher Clearness settings because peak brightness falling dramatically.

I've updated to the latest firmware, and HDR video still looks really dark and grey. When trying to increase the brightness I lose all deep black and the black bars around movies are clearly grey. Is there a way to tune this? Or, I'd actually prefer to prevent the TV from switching to HDR. I can't even see HDR content in daylight.

most probably sony made picture worse in latest updates to made you buy new tv.

nobody watch HDR content in daylight. if we are speaking about calibrated setups.

A couple of questions:

1. Do you normally prefer your picture mode in Vivid?
2. If #1 is yes, have you tried HDR Vivid mode? I personally prefer the standard HDR mode because it's very realistic to my eye.
3. Are you in a super bright room with direct sunlight?

you don`t need direct sunlight to loose shadow details. to see all shadow details room should be fully darkened. especially with oleds.

I'm well aware...not the point of my questions.

In daylight. With Windows, yes. But I have no problem with non-HDR content. At night, I can't see details in the dark scenes at all. It's useless either way. Is there a way to stop it from turning on HDR?

You can disable HDR on external devices for sure. I don't think you can on the internal apps. It's odd you're having such issues though. I have my set in a bright room and don't have issues watching HDR. But, I also don't have direct sunlight into the room, just a lot of windows. It's bright during the day, but not overbearing.

Your TV is malfunctioning and needs to be repaired. OR you can`t make simple tuning of HDR levels.

So came across this interesting little tidbit for the 7.0 PS4 update:

Sony has revealed, you can also tune HDR settings on the console - with a new option letting you tune brightness and darkness at the system level (ideal when you consider some games that don't offer this themselves!)
i cant wait for this to come out!

heres the full article

Sony has revealed, you can also tune HDR settings on the console - with a new option letting you tune brightness and darkness at the system level (ideal when you consider some games that don't offer this themselves!)
i cant wait for this to come out!

Yes! I was trying to find threads on this from people that are testing it but not much is being talked about. I guess we'll find out for ourselves when it hits and share some notes.

HDR Video Vivid is a "Reset" option and has been there for quite some time. With HDR selected, just go to "Advanced settings" --> Reset

I know this subject has been brought up before, but today it hit me.

We got rid of DirecTV satellite and switched to YouTube TV streaming. As such, we have been using the Smart TV aspect of the 940c more than usual.

I'm not sure when it started, or what update did it, but the TV has been slow and laggy for a while now.

I tried deleting apps I didn't use, that didn't help.
At some point, regular YouTube got corrupted and I couldn't log in any more.
It wouldn't let me log out or log in.

Knowing that others have tried the full reset, I thought that might be the way to go.
I clicked the Yes, I want to do a factory reset, and it did nothing.

I ended up doing the "Forced Factory Reset" procedure:
Unplug the TV.
Hold down the "Power" and "Volume Down" buttons at the same time and plug the power back into the outlet.
When the green LED comes on, release the buttons.

The upside:
The TV feels much quicker and doesn't lag. Streaming video isn't choppy anymore.
I did NOT lose my custom calibration settings.
I selected that I wanted to use YouTube without logging in. It promptly logged me in and YouTube started working perfectly again.
It feels like a new TV.

The downsides:
You have to download and re-install all your apps, including logging in again.
Sharpness seems to be different. It used to be set in the 30's which was too blurry after the reset. 50 seems correct now.

It took a couple of hours to get everything back the way it was, but so far it looks like it was worth it.
