Samsung 60inch JS8000

As the title implies I was wondering if anyone had any information on this TV apparently coming out soon. I cant even find this on Samsungs website but its on being listed by Best Buy. Is this the same as the JS7000 60in but with 120Hz native refresh rate instead of the 60Hz?

Can be seen here:

the better question is what are the main differences with 8500 besides the lack of 3D.

That was my next thought. Its not quite priced between the 55 and 65 inch JS8500 but it does land in the vicinity. Not sure if BB jumped the gun on posting online but still seems strange samsung doesnt have it listed anywhere. Would be curious to see its HDR compatibility or its HMDI versions.

Its only a little more that the 55 inch JS8500 and if the main difference is just dropping 3D i can live with that because a little more screen size is always nice.

well i went ahead and asked around at Best buy and everybody around here seems little confused by this model at the moment because it isnt listed on Samsung site yet somehow is coming soon to sale lol. It could also seem like a JU7100 lose the 3D but add the nano crystals perhaps.

This model is showing as available for pickup at my local Best Buy in Cincinnati. I may try to swing by this week to take a look as I'm in the market for a new tv and was looking at the 60" JU7100 and 55" JS8500.

Maybe you can verify some information for us then like how many zones or HDMI firmware version. Thanks for checking it out and look forward to seeing what you think if they have on display.

Just purchased my Samsung 60 JS8000 today from Best Buy here in Dallas. I returned (never opened) the Samsung 55 JS8500. The JS8000 from what I understand is a Best Buy exclusive from Samsung (if there is such a thing) with in store demos being featured exclusively in the Magnolia Theater Room in BB stores in approximately two weeks. I bought the only one they had in stock. If you Google for info or reviews on the JS8000 you won't find any, except for the one customer review on the BB website.

However, you will find information on the Samsung website for the JS8000 in both 55" and 65" respectively. This goes back to my comment about a BB exclusive, as it appears Samsung will be offering the 60" version at BB stores only. Strange I know, but until I am proven wrong I am going with that theory (a BB employee also provided me that answer.

With all that said, I am told the 60" JS8000 and 55" JS8500 are very similiar in features, with the JS8500 holding the edge with better Black levels and brighter/vibrant White levels. To me it's semantics, as I wanted a 60" and the Black/White levels are not a deal breaker for me.

I originally set out to purchase the 60" JS 7000, until I realized it was just 60hz (BTW no programming is broadcast above 60hz) so after numerous reviews and comparisons I chose the 55" JS8500, until I stumbled upon the 60" JS8000 by accident on the BB website.

I am in the middle of some home remodeling but will have my tv installed and ready to view on Saturday 10/24/14. Once I have time to watch some programming and of course some required sports, I will provide some feedback on this forum.

From my conference call, the JS8000 is like the 8500 in that it does have the 10 bit panel and the 240 motion rate. It does not have precision black like the 8500

So the JS8000 is Edge lit like the 8500? I thought it was FALD but i suppose i read that wrong? Not enough information on this TV of even something official from Samsung on it. Strange but thanks for sharing the additional info!

They may list full array, but the only model that is full array is the 9500. It has to be multi zone full array for it to actually be fald

I just got back from Best buy and was going to buy the 7000 when they told me about the 8000 for $100 more.
How can you be so positive that a brand new TV that has full array back-lighting listed on the spec sheet is not fald? Are you in the industry or work for Samsung? I'd like to know the true specs before I order.

Im trained on their products. It's direct lit. So it has a few zones, but it's not going to be true full array. The 7000, 7100, and 8000 are what Samsung calls "full array" but it is direct lit. It has some zones but not near the amount the 9500 has which is 150 on the 65 inch.

Also ignore when I said it had a 10 bit panel. They corrected that later. It is the same exact TV as the 7000 just with the higher motion rate. You have to go to the 8500 if you want the 10 bit panel, precision black, and hdr capability. The 7000, 7100, and 8000 will read and display hdr content, but not to the extent the 8500 and up will

The js9500 is "multi zone full array with local dimming", while the js7000 is only "full array."

Also, ironsurvivor, do you know if the js8000 is using IPS panels or VA panels?

The panel is most likely VA and a sharp panel as it is a 60 incher.

Looks like I need to replace my old 56" RPTV and saw this as well at bestbuy.com (I can only fit up to 60" in the space designated). Still doing research but I was thinking about the JU7100, then saw the JS8000 (the 7100 is a hair over my budget of $2k all in). I will be paying for it using amex points, so I can't really go over budget, but amex is offering a $300 e-card from best buy with purchase. So for $1600 is it a super bargain regardless of lack of info out there on it? Any additional comments or info on this set would be appreciated. Thanks. Paul.

I would like to see if anyone else has gotten this yet as well or confirm what panel this uses. The panel could be Sharp/AU/Samsung but not sure. If its AU maybe we assume similar panel quality as the Vizio M60. This doesnt seem to be drawing much attention but not sure if thats a good thing or bad lol.

The s8000 will be 1499 this Saturday at Best buy from 1-7 pm ET. 1999.99 - 500 is the sale that day. I was going for that set, but ended up getting the Sony XBR65850C for 1799.99 instead after they matched the milady exchange price. Had a chance to check out the 8000, but like many others have posted here, not too much info on it. If you check the AU Samsung page, they have a js8000 there. Is it the same tv?

Still no JS8000 on display at my Best Buy. There was one in the box on the floor. Panel version is MD01 which I believe is an AUO panel, good blacks and contrast, poor viewing angle. I don't have any extreme viewing angles so that would not bother me.

Is this sale at all Best Buy stores?

edit- Nevermind I found the drop down list of the select 400 stores that are having the special Holiday Shopping Event on Saturday.

Such limited info on this tv...

Does anyone know the input lag and the panel response time for the JS8000? Can this tv do 4:4:4 60 in PC mode?

Does this tv have the One Connect Box Mini?

Please post the link of the Best Buys that will Have this Tv on sale Saturday?

Trying to decide between the JU7500 and the JS8000.

Thanks

Yes, this tv will be exclusively for gaming. I really want the JU7500, but I am concerned at 10.6' (wall mount) the 65" will be a bit too big/overpowering, while the 55" table mount at 8.6' will be too small. Hence my interest in the 60". I agree with you...despite the sale Sat. I will not purchase the 8000 without real lag numbers. The new-ish Sharp 60" 30U series looks fairly good, but w/o lag numbers no go for me. I still may try the 65" 7500 with hopes of getting used to the size.
