Question 4K blu ray

First of all if you look on the Sony support site, it says this tv supports hdr over all 4 HDMI inputs.

With Avengers infinity war coming out soon on disc I have been thinking about getting a 4K blu Ray player. I am looking at the Sony XBP 800. I am looking for and info from anyone using a 4K player and the results on this tv and the Sony player as well.

Also, about the hdr, everyone seems to have a different opinoin about whether or not it is supported. I would tend to believe the Sony support site.

I knew this was not a high end tv when I bought it. It has been great so far however. That is just my experience with it.

Links? I don't get HDR on my 810c. Not over any of the HDMI inputs.

Try that. Maybe I am reading it wrong.

I remember when I bought the tv, hdr was not a big deal. Now it is a necessity for the best picture.

you are absolutely correct. Not sure what I was looking at. Well the question now becomes is a 4k player worth it when the tv does not support hdr.

Do you have a regular Blu Ray player? If so my guess it wouldn't be a huge upgrade. But if you don't have one then I don't see why not. At least your prepared.

Right now I use my xbox one. It is not the greatest Blu ray player and the remote is terrible. Again, I just started thinking about it because of Avengers Infinity War. I loved the movie and thought it might be time.

Anyone have issues with dark spots on the screen? I noticed it a couple weeks ago. Some scenes aren't noticable but on a white background there are purple splotches all over. Also really noticable during sports like golf and soccer.

Noticed some purple splotches last night with a white background. Did not last long and did not think much about it. I will be paying much close attention over the next couple days.

Tv is 2.5 years old. It's bad on some scenes and less noticable on others. Really odd

Mine is also just over two years old. I bought a BB and got the extended warranty. I will be looking into this much more closely as I will want it replaced if there is an issue. Also I have started looking for a replacement with HDR. Could work out well for me if this tv is starting to go.

Yeah I'm also planning an upgrade. Looking at the Samsung q9fn or the new Sony z9f. Problem is this 810 it's supposed to be my man cave tv. maybe I'll get lucky and get a new TV then have this one die

I as well have been looking at the X9F, but am wathcing the Z9F as well. I went by BB the other day, but plan on waiting until Xmas now for the boxing day sales. Just keeping an eye on the prices.

Do you have speakers near the TV? I don't think LCDs need to have magnetically shielded speakers near them but just checking

Since we're talking uniformity and Sony tvs. I have a x810c that's a little over 2 years old. A couple weeks ago I noticed dark spots all over it. During sports like soccer it's really noticable. On a white screen it looks like purple blotches. If I'm gaming or watching cartoons it's less noticable. Any ideas what could of caused it?

Could be the LEDs aging, the panel itself wearing from temperature changes over the seasons, could be bruising from cleaning the screen or people touching it. Could be a number of different things.

Ok. TV's only 2 years old. Sony Support didn't help other than referring me to a repair tech. I don't think it's worth fixing.

I wonder if the center speaker mode will be 6 ohms or 8 ohms? Or doesn't it matter if your speakers are 6 ohms and the TV is 8 ohms (or vice versa)?

"Sony explains that it has improved the actuators that are glued to the back of the panel and that it has furthermore made it possible to use all of the units as a center speaker in a full surround setup. To do that, you connect the actual TV to your surround system via traditional speaker terminals. You do not drive the speaker units in A9F from your receiver – it would risk affecting the lifespan of the actuators – so audio volume is regulated via the TV’s DSP and the built-in amplifier, based on input from the connected surround receiver. This means that, in theory, you could hit a ceiling for audio volume on A9F before hitting it on the other speakers in your surround setup."

Nope. I usually never get the extended warranty. Once I get a new TV I'll mainly just game on it. It's not as noticable when gaming for some reason.... Sound like the panel has gone bad

Can you reproduce this when you want? I swear I have been seeing purple botches on mine as well lately. Not often, but after reading this I am keeping an eye out. I did buy the extended warranty. For starters, with having it I was able to negotiate better pricing on the tv. The main reason I get it though, is I know several people who have been very lucky to have that extended warranty as it has saved them some major hassle.

Oh yes. Any white screen it's very visible. It's more noticable while watching regular TV(antenna) less noticable while playing ps4.
