I would hope there is no regression; however, I have not seen an ultra thin panel that I like that does HDR really well. I would be concerned about the 960 vs 1440 motion flow as well. The one place the newer set might win (no specs yet) could be native contrast.

The pervious year barely panel barely reach 90% DCI P3. Most of the 2016 Samsung SUHD Sets will have >95+ DCI P3. Also all the 2016 SUHD line will hit 1000 nits peak brightness. A thin speaker less version of the X930C will not be competitive verse other sets.

Besides what make you think the panel is the same?

These TV's have DCI Color Space according to their Manual and that is where Sony Colorists grade to according to Sony's Don Ekland on Home Theater Geeks #295. Unless I am reading and hearing it wrong.

Sony 75Z9D, Denon 4300H, Sony 65Z9D, Denon X4311, OPPO UDP-203, ATV4K, X1X Scorpio

I wouldn't worry too much. My x900A has motion flow 960 and its motion handling is excellent.

Don't jump on me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the motion flow come from blacklight modulation which may have been reduced to help increase the peak nits?

Unfortunately that cloth is thinner now, will it effect performance not sure, but between the specs and since it is supposed to have the same numbers of zones squeezed into that thinner panel, that definitely does not say a much improved TV and maybe a slightly worse one........something has to give with this aesthetic redesign.

So Mr. or Mrs. OLED fan. I don't have much space. Would you still get an OLED in the "55" or less" area over a 2016 Samsung or Sony LED with (theoretically) better HDR?

All the 10-12 local best buys around Los Angeles region are postponing the availability date by a day, every day. Initially it was March23, yesterday they change to Mar24, Now it shows Mar25. Not sure what is going on...

Same in San Diego, though even more annoying is that a couple of stores show it in stock, yet when I went to one of them yesterday they don't have any!

They don't have any on display or they dont have any in stock? Why I ask is some stores who got them, got only one 65x930d per store, so it is not up on display. If you wanted to buy, why not do an online order right there in store and ask them to bring it up for you to pick up while you hang around, just a thought...

Personally I wouldn't buy an OLED. The LCD/LED FALD sets are very tough to beat in picture quality. Next year with DV, HDR and 4000 nits, now this is a set .

I am scanning this thread to get early impressions/pictures of the 930d.. waiting to see some kind of video review on YouTube.. the 930D is being considered to replace a OLED EG9600 in the living room and the sales guys I've talked to about the idea quickly say a person can't go from OLED to LED.. but Sony has always been my favorite TV and the 900b I have still is a captivating experience in 4K.. I've been into TVs for a very long time and my eyes are not fooling me with what I've seen so far from the 930D and the black levels Sony is providing is good enough to replace the OLED on my wall for my taste..

I'm going to my local Magnolia center to look at it now..

They neither had one in stock nor one on display - really annoyed me to waste a trip there, but it's not the first time their inventory system has been wrong before.

Are you seriously arguing that a few percent of the color space is a big deal? If so than none of these TVs can even reach 75% of REC.2020. Why wouldn't you insist on getting that extra 25% if 5% is such a big deal to you?

The truth is that these TVs all offer more than 20% more color space than REC.709 did. That is a big deal and ALL of them will look great with respect to color with HDR material.

Yes, all of the newer options are better than that TV. That is a two year old TV and the technology has changed dramatically since then.

Is there a tool/app/utility to find out what screen these 930d's have and manufacturer of the screen?
