Has anyone seen a street date on the M-series? P-series is available at our state's Best Buy warehouse today. I'm trying to sell my wife on the $800 increase from my new M60 to a P65 and having no luck so far, lol.

Best Buy's return period is actually 30 days in-store, on TVs, or at least it used to be.

I called my local Best Buy and was told that they only have stock at distribution centers and it would be quite some time before models are on display. But hopefully you'll have better luck. When I go to the BB site I have to actually search using "P55" because the new Vizio's don't show up under the 4K TV list. When I select store availability it says April 1.

It's 14 days now, unless you're a high level rewards member and then its 30 days. At least that's my understanding.

Damn, can't edit my post. On the Verge article, it says the tablet has no IR blaster. So I guess not.

65" and I did store pick up, says 4/1. The local warehouse has it in stock though, and I could get it today. My guess is it will be the weekend since I can pick it up at the warehouse.

go on eBay and search "best buy 10% off online code". They usually cost $20, but it saves you 10%. It works on Vizio Tvs.

After tax my total was $1907.

If I could get a 940c at that price I would jump on it, but sadly up here in the Great White North, the 940c is retailing for $8999cdn and $8599cdn for the $940D, where as the 75" P will be retailing for $5500cdn, yeah I know we get burned up here. I miss the days when we were on par.

A 2015 940c can be found discounted (occasionally) because it's at the end of it's line and remaining inventory is being moved. The 2016 940D will be out soon.

Apples to apples comparison would be...

XBR-75X940D: $8000

P75-C1, MSRP $3800

So; no you'd be paying $4200 more.

And until the TV(s) are out and tested any "trumping" is completely unknown; all speculation and subjectivity.

And in terms of peak luminance; I believe BIG assumptions are being made. This is an LCD were talking about... At what point does the light leakage become very noticeable? So just because you can hit 1300 would you really want too? It's effects might be not wanted. Without more testing/viewing it's just marketing numbers IMO.

Yes, that is peak...the stated Vizio spec is full screen. Until I see something from rtings about the peak nits from the P75, I will withhold any sort of nits comparison. Right now it's apples to oranges.

Movers coupons are free, just go to the post office in your town (US only) and say you are moving. They will give you a packet to fill out that comes with coupons

Best Buy is part of this and offers 10% of a single purchase or item, I forget

Umm - no - you're buying the TV today, not a year ago - you can definitely get the 940c for <$4500, but even if you don't feel like looking for a good deal, it's very easy to get for $5K. $8000? The only way to pay that much today is if you are telling the sales guy to take you for a ride. The apples to apples comparison is the price that they're available for today - it's $4300 for the 940c (or $5k if you don't want to shop) vs $3800 - is the Vizio cheaper? Yes. Is it better - time will tell...

They are not in the post office packets any longer. They do not accept them in store now. People like me who abuse them ruined it. You have to buy them online for online use. This will be my 3rd one this year on a purchase of $1200+ :P

940c is 2015 model... your comparing sales of a TV which is at the end of it's sales. It's usually discounted by this time... Very shortly the inventory will be gone as they stopped producing them awhile ago. 940c has been discontinued and succeeded.

940d is 2016 model...

edited

I added a blurb to my other post.

and p.s. yes I agree one should factor in the 940c at the moment into their purchasing decision. But shortly that won't be an option and the price difference will be huge again. My comparison is for 2016 model TV(s) NOT discounted 2015 if you look closer.

At least by getting the bagde, the consumer might attempt to investigate differences.

Also consider that most salesmen are clueless about real tv specs. So all they know also is what tv is certified and what isnt, and again will push his sales towards the certified samsung and LG lcds which screws over vizio again.

My guess is the certification standards caught vizio by surprise (like everyone else who was expecting 700-800 nit range). Vizio's new tvs were already either in production or headed toward production and couldn't be changed on the fly to make them brighter to reach 1000 nits.
Well that is just a matter of Vizio creating their own badge...that's what Sony did. They could make it stand out more on the packaging/ad materials to show it off more and trump Sony at their own game.

So, this screen would probably support Dolby Vision via streaming only.

This is not true. Dolby Vision works with HDMI 1.4 and above.

Ahh, but the Harmony Elite has the ability to connect to devices via IR, WiFi, or Bluetooth...heck my Elite remote can act as a WiiU controller so it will be interesting to see if Harmony is able to somehow integrate some of the tablet commands into the remote.

I'd be surprised if not. Logitech is usually pretty good at updating the software for new things.
I wonder what else the tablet can do... it'd be nice if it would have been able to talk to the Tivo as well to change channels, via the Harmony. Can't win I guess...

Yup, this is correct. APples to apples though, P75 is full screen 600 nit vs 940c full screen 600 nit.

Even if they do, you'll still need to use a separate device to browse media and cast. I like the idea of not relying on TV apps for streaming, but there's something comforting about clicking through media with a traditional remote. I'd still use my Nexus Player or Fire Stick for this reason, unless I'm specifically streaming HDR content, I think.
