Probably the Harrison St. store in the city. They are a major store that had the first UHD BDs that I picked up the first day they became available (on 2/11).

Edit: according to the BB online site, the only place for pickup today is at their warehouse. But you probably have to call the store to get more accurate info.

Available today
Order by 5:00 PM local store time.

Many built-in TV tuners can support both ATSC 1.0 OTA and digital Clear QAM (unencrypted) cable. Many external tuners are similar. If your local cable provider still transmits unencrypted cable channels then a Clear QAM tuner would work. However, most cable channels are encrypted in most areas nowadays, in which case you would need a tuner capable of decrypting the signal. This requires either a set top box or a cablecard tuner, either of which is rented from your cable provider. Cablecard tuners require some sort of compatible hardware enclosure, be it a TiVo set top box or PC-based device.

I just need a QAM tuner. No encryption here. I guess that's one benefit of dealing with such a low rent cable co.

I just pulled the trigger on the 75". I'm picking it up in an hour. I'm going to compare it side by side with the M80C3 that's on my wall. Very reluctant to give up the 5" but if DV looks great streamed, I'm returning the Samsung UHD player and going this direction permanently.

I am getting very annoyed with how much you people are tempting me to buy a 75-inch Vizio P Series.

It will depend on my living room size I suppose.

There's a saying about "everything in moderation". If only it was applied to well, you know...

Congrats on the TV.

Streaming PQ still can't compare to disc IMO. And don't even talk about audio!

Hey look at me still posting in this thread ha!

Well, I'll be able to compare both side by side.... UHD Bluray and DV streamed.... We shall see.

FYI, there might be an M80C3 for sale in the Minneapolis area.

Vizio 2016 P-Series UHD/HDR TVs

Well I placed my order with Best Buy. I'll be returning my js9500. I don't think there is any way that the 9500 is worth twice the price. Will put me at ease regarding Dolby vision as well.

Will miss hdr10 for a few months, but I'll live.

UHD disc will always have the best quality.

I had a chance to stream a couple of the uhd movies from vudu via roku 4, and compared to their disc versions, we're less sharp. Sure hdr adds more color and highlights, but sharpness will always be best on disc.

Not to mention, you will need the uhd player for amazon hdr when it eventually gets turned on.

Well obviously the DV version even if streamed should trounce the M-series in color and highlights, u shouldn't even need to do a side by side for that lol

The real question you may want to answer is how does a streaming DV movie on Vudu compare to an HDR10 version on disc. (Or dolby disc).

But then again since the samsung doesn't do DV, you'll need a new uhd player eventually anyways.

So what happens 1st: vizio gets the hdr10 update and you get to watch hdr10 discs, or a Dolby Vision capable blu ray player is released along with DV discs? I'm guessing #1 happens 1st.

But hey it should be fun and I'm sure you'll be posting minute by minute updates right?

I'd love a compare, as I am currently planning on swapping. Just something basic as far as how a movie looks on it. Especially fast motion. I'm sure others here could ask for more detailed and scientific comparisons.

It makes no sense -- everything you read is correct. I have no idea where @scarabaeus got his information from.

ARC is not "artificially limited" to SP/DIF. In fact, the HDMI spec notes that the ARC connection was made available by purposing two previously unused pins as the ARC pins and allowing SP/DIF compatible formats sent over it. Therefore, I'd venture an educated guess that it's very likely ARC is an SP/DIF coax connection forged from these two unused pins in the HDMI cable. Pretty convenient that SP/DIF can be carried by a two pin RCA cable, no?

Of course, they could have reinvented the wheel and made those two pins use a higher bandwidth signaling protocol and forced people to implement said protocol. But, from a manufacture's point of view, and to ease the common use-case of getting audio from the TV to the receiver, it would be much easier to simply allow the HDMI chip-set manufacturers to provide a SP/DIF pin-in and allow the users to activate it, sending data from the existing circuitry used to support the SP/DIF output.

Yep, they are. Just pulled the trigger on the 65' P-series C-1. That price point of 1999.00 is too attractive to pass up for the features it has...I've owned a 2014 P series for a couple of years and I've been very happy with it, I hope the trend will continue with this one...

Oh for sure. I'm fully expecting Thomas to tell us that the new vizio P blows away his M-series. Slam dunk.

Except has it been confirmed that vudu has opened their service to the internal 2016 vizio P app? That might be the only roadblock for tonight's comparison.
