In your opinion do you think it is worth the 700 increase over the M series. I know you say it is brighter and I saw the picture but I can't imagine the dark levels better than much better than the M, the Contrast rates at really something like a 9 on Rtings.

I am mainly just using 1080p sources. For instance we use my brothers netflix account because we have cable with all on demand channels and I only really use my M series to play video games/watch TV shows with the wife.

Is 1080p sources a substantial improvement?

Also I held out on the current M series until their firmware fixed a lot of the issues people were having with certain settings not doing anything. I really don't know if that exists with the new P series? Any growing pains?

Did u redeem the uhd blu ray codes for the vudu DV versions? U can actually use any regular blu ray also that has codes.

Bruce, I've got a much longer thread over at home base, but the long and the short of it is I'm buying a 50" P for my office to upgrade a 5 year old 32". Should be a massive difference.

I've still got a 940D on order but I am VERY nervous about that. I'm going to evaluate my 50" very closely before deciding if the 75" P or the 940 will get the final nod. If I had to guess right now I don't think I can justify the cost difference but time will tell.

I doubt I'd buy this set for 1080p sources. If you're in the market for a TV and want to prep for 4k, this is it IMO.

Which also proves what I've been saying all along about expanded colors: it doesn't just affect 10 bit material but all sources will have better colors.

How did they already receive their sets? I find it surprising that one set had so many dead pixels and not working properly. This set was said to be on hold for over a year while they worked out the HDR issues. I feel confident that Vizio has paid extra close attention to this set in particular for their QAQC.

I am not a huge fan of Vudu / UV so maybe I missed something but I thought redeeming the UHD codes only get you the 1080p version on Vudu, not the 4K HDR version. Isn't that a separate $30 or so cost?

All FALD TV(s) will bloom; this will be exacerbated even more when Dolby Vision and HDR10 try pushing high luminance with dark areas next to it. I'm 99% sure the described will be a benchmark/test ran once the guys figure how to roll their own HDR/DV calibration videos.

I think folks here are excited the blooms are equal to or better than premium models from other brands.

Ya near black would be interesting to see.

I've had it for all of 13 hours but short of something jumping out and kicking me in the [email protected]#, the P75 is the real deal.

It's a little buggy with the Cast thing... reboots a bunch when going in and out of movies. Patience....

Directv.. Basically 4k aside, i saw no difference between my 5 year old Sharp LED and the M when watching "cable".. However on the JS8500 (and even the 6700 i had for 2 weeks) there was a definite pop in all cable content I Love Vizio for the price and features.. but it seems there upscaling is still lacking

Lol yeah.

I've been building my vudu collection for about a year now. Even black mass which I bought for $7.99 off of a website is waiting for me in DV UHD on Vudu. I've got about half a dozen UHD Dolby Vision Vudu movies waiting for me as soon as I get the TV - More than the amount of UHD Blu Rays I have! Beyond excited to check them out.

Another tip (non 4K related but Vudu related).

If you have a big DVD collection (or Blu-Ray) you can instantly get HDX versions in the cloud for a nominal fee with Vudu's in home disc to digital program (or you can take them into walmart if you dont have a DVD/Blu Ray drive on your PC)

www.vudu.com/in_home_disc_to_digital.html

With 10 or more it works out to $2.50 to get a cloud-based HDX version from a DVD or $1.00 from a Blu-Ray. I now have a couple hundred titles available to stream in HDX from Vudu (as well as UHDs I added after) whereas I never touched the discs for months/years. It's pretty nice and it links to UV/Flixster and all the other sites if you do that. Pretty great.

Will there be a way to watch in Dolby Vision and still get Atmos sound? Atmos isn't supported by the ARC or optical as far as I've read...so I guess until new UHD players come out there isn't a total solution. All my Best Buys around here show they have the 75 in stock... trying to surpress the urge to impulse buy one right now to replace my year old Samsung 8550.

I've seen the Sony 940C bloom with same type of material; can't really say which is better or worse from the pictures... so subjective. I can say what you have shown shows it's a contender! IMO this TV is going to make a lot of folks really think 2x about dropping the extra $$ on the other manufacturers.

ya; time will tell once some testing is done. And we haven't even begun to see how HDR/DV will be benchmarked/tested yet. I assume those revelations will come in the next year.

The backlight control in DV mode (playing DV content) doesn't behave like it does for SDR content. The backlight control in Dolby Vision mode actually controls the mid range luminance, not the peak luminance of the small specular highlights.
