Sitting watch Duke lose on my Panny plasma. Can this Vizio beat this with motion? That's the rub, I want a 75" so bad too.

Give me a HDR Dolby Vision plasma at 75" and I'm happy.

Mine is arriving Saturday, will post some impressions if someone else hasn't yet on the 55. Viewing angles are pretty important with my set up so I'm hoping this is even approachable to the sublime images Thomas has shared.

Give it time those "all inclusive/overall" write ups take time to right and actually "do". We may start seeing pro reviews soon so that may feed your fix as well. For what you're asking for id give it about a week of viewing (maybe even a few days).

Last synopsis on my part....

Black Level: 9-10
Blooming: 9
Dynamic Range: 10
Color Gamut: 10
DSE: 8
Brightness: 9-10
Motion: 8
Cable viewing: 7-8 until 1080i then 9
Tablet remote: 9 (it's growing on me)
4k picture quality: 9-10, depending on the source.
Casting: absolutely the right approach
Casting audio: 6 (getting some dropouts when set to Dolby Digital and no Atmos that I can make work via ARC)
1080p Bluray: 9
Samsung UHD Bluray: 8 w/o HDR. Narrow color gamut but you can mimic HDR with some tweaking.
FALD: 9 but it may be a 10. I have to pay a little more attention to some challenging scenes.

I think they've accomplished something quite important with this display. There's nothing wrong with standard DR 4k. I loved my M80 but this is just a quantum improvement. Very surprised with what they engineered here for the money. Kudos to Vizio.

Nah, I get that. I guess "overall at this point" is more of what I should have said. Besides, he's local to me iirc, I could have been the turd that said, "Dude, can I come check it out?"

Hard enough keeping up with this thread, I go to sleep from working overnight and there are 400 new posts when I wake up(yes, I skimmed/read all of them).

I've walked around Best Buy quite a lot ( read , too many times ) in the last 2-3 weeks since we decided we needed a bigger tv , and it seems all the sets I see that are highly rated online are available to view in the "special" rooms .

About 3 weeks ago I was asking about the Sony 900 and the lg 9500 as they both looked cool and thin , (and more importantly flat ) and one was "shopfloor" and the other was a "magnolia order" , I can't remember which one was which , but it appeared that the magnolia order was the "better" more exclusive one ....

Although I know nothing about TV sets , I come from a stereo world harking back to the days when the earth was flat so I was just wondering if this was a wonder drug marketing ploy and will Best Buy admit a "punching above its weight" middle weight into the rooms reserved for the heavyweights ....

Yeah , I probably drunk too much on a school night again
Not a big fan of magnolia side of the house. They are ran separate in many ways from best buy. Their return policy is different. I had a problem with the Pacific side of the house(magnolia for appliances) and the store manager could not help nor could most of corporate.

Its possible the Vizio could end up in both. Sonos speakers are.

Given the exclusive nature of the Vizio partnership I doubt they will limit these to magnolia stores only.

If they are in both do yourself a favor and buy from a blue shirt and not one of the magnolia guys

A lot of the post office stopped carrying them. You can get them off Ebay for like $2 or $3 dollars. Well worth it.

I always get confused on the whole panel thing. IPS panel etc...
50" is a VA panel. Better black levels but slightly lower quality viewing angle. You will see a small drop in color saturation off angle.

55" is an IPS panel. Viewing angle is extremely good but the black levels are slightly higher than VA (blooming is also slightly more noticeable).

We do both because people have different priorities when buying a TV. Our IPS panels are often 55" because the best quality IPS is cut on gen 8.5 fabs where 55" is most optimal size.

If your receiver or soundbar supports ARC it is generally better... our tablet remote would also then control volume on your external sound source with is more convenient as well.

I assume these new wide color panels have fixed one of my main issues with the 2014 P, which was the red saturation? Red was always a bit orange and skin tones were tough to dial in.

Any details on motion handling? Huge thanks for the motion setting firmware update you pushed to the P last year, made a huge difference getting the individual judder/motion controls.
The 70" is a Sharp panel which is very high quality but one slight weakness was a more orange red primary (VIZIO convinced them to change to a custom filter for future models that will be much improved). The new P Series meets our new higher spec.

Motion is tough to talk about. Different people perceive different motion and we have found it is very subjective. The new products have massive improvement but I am careful to quantify or describe them in detail because two people standing next to each other will have different opinions :-)

I will tell you that the P Series ships with MEMC turned off. This was after careful consideration and collaboration with studios (and many hours of side by side testing). MEMC is there if you want to turn it on but we are really trying to fall back to Director's intent and show the content AS IT WAS CAPTURED. But MEMC is a matter of taste... some people love it, some people hate it.

Further, we can expect the typical receiver (which would, I assume, expect the classically supported SP/DIF formats of 2 ch PCM, DD, and DTS) to decode it.
I had the QA team test late tonight on this issue in particular once it was brought up on this forum. We are seeing a potential big where certain sizes of P Series (for instance P75) won't pass ATMOS and DD+ until after 15min of content playback. Meaning after 15min of playback the TV will suddenly begin properly passing DD+ or ATMOS. Would love the original poster to test this...

Smaller sizes (for instance P50 are fine) as verified by the team tonight. This is a bug and I asked the software team to reproduce and escalate to a P1 bug for fix in the next release. I apologize for the issue.

Will respond to other points in more detail tomorrow.

Secondly , Can you comment on the 'screen frame' on the m series ?
More of a manufacturing question than a tech question , but I am wondering if the aluminum frame of the p can be removed and fitted with the black fame from the m ?
Small things I know , but my gf is a designer and just going of the few online pics available she prefers last years m series .
If this cannot be retrofitted , how big of a job is it to remove the front frame section ?

And lastly , as I'm only a few miles away in Laguna would it be possible to pick up my order from you direct in Irvine ?
M will be similar to last years, black with silver on side panels only. Not possible to retrofit because construction is totally different.

Great to have a local person. Unfortunately our TV inventory does not come through our headquarters so the product would ship from a hub elsewhere in the country.

I can only find BB movers coupons for $20

Really want to pull the trigger so I can lock in my delivery date of for Monday. Otherwise I could drive four hours round trip to pick up at the nearest warehouse tomorrow. Either way I need the movers coupon and I'm not sure I want to pay $20 for it. I'll check my local USPS to see if they still happen to have the coupons in the packets.

As I mentioned in another post... motion is one of those areas where people differ quite a bit. So I hesitate to really push or describe the qualities and it is best for you to get eyes on. having said that we have been pushing big improvements through our processing and changed out settings to give people more control over how the motion processing works.

Funny... I have come full circle on this personally. Years ago I liked super smooth motion with MEMC etc... but over the years I have become a person who dislikes MEMC and I prefer to see the frames as they were captured. This sometimes means there is more judder but that is what was filmed.

The P-series sounds like it was engineered to be a display for enthusiasts first with solid honest specs first. Alot of the competitions main focuses is on gimmicks, badges (UHD premium, 4K HDR, etc) and/or aesthetic. I applauded Vizio on the bold innovative move with the casting table. Bravo.

My only concern, which will be addressed in due time is dead pixel clusters. I went through three M65-C1 that all had dead clusters. After three I gave up and moved on. If this quality defect is resolved I'd happy buy a P65 and recommend it.
We had some issues with products getting damaged in shipments last year. Over the past 8-10 months we did a full audit of the supply chain, changed handling procedures, and redesign packaging. This has significantly reduced the instance of damage at unbox. But if you find an issue return it and we will make sure you get a perfect display.
