It already works for VUDU and Netflix. Its justs Youtube is using a new "VP9-Profile 2" codec that isn't supported by the tv.

It's a pipe dream but Vizio really needs a Wiki or detailed FAQ going for all this 4K and HDR fun stuff.

Anyway, quick question, what kind of input lag should I expect for a 4K & HDR game on the PS4 Pro right now? 45ms, 60ms or other?

Below is from Matt a while back for the XBOX ONE S, not sure if the same applies now for PS4 or not:

Quote:
On our P and M Series products. The main SOC has about a 2 frame delay for processing which on a 60fps input is about 30ms. Our PQ/MEMC engine is a little less than one frame which is about 15ms. Our current HDR code is adding about 15ms. So at a very high level:

- HDMI 1-4 in SDR = 45ms
- HDMI 5 in SDR = 15ms
- HDMI 1-4 in HDR = 60ms

In my previous post I mentioned that we are reworking our HDR10 pipeline to support 4:2:0 better for Xbox. As part of that rework we are attempting to pull down the HDR10 lag to near 0ms. That means we would end up with the following:

- HDMI 1-4 in SDR = 45ms
- HDMI 5 in SDR = 15ms
- HDMI 1-4 in HDR10 = 45ms
- HDMI 1-4 in DolbyVision = 60ms
PS: Ordered the Monoprice HDMI cables, I appreciate the recommendation.

The post by matt shows the answer. You would currently expect 60ms lag from hdr gaming. If you have GLL(Game low latency on) With it turned off expect lag of 150ms.

No HDR showing up on PS4 Pro games... not sure why? Hooked from PS4 Pro directly to my Vizio P series since hooking through my TX-NR545 causes infinite handshaking. -_-

It definitely supports HDR. Sounds like he is having an issue. I'm going to tinker with my PS4 Pro and P50 tonight after work but Rise of the Tomb Raider definitely has HDR support. It's been heavily advertised.

Have any of you used the LIVE TV feature with the Vizio app on the tablet or your phone? I think its supposed to control your cable box to change channels? See the video I just made. Cannot get it to work.

The information out is ungodly horrendous on which games do what. Here is why.

Games are being Patched to have better graphics via PS4 pro. The problem with that is they don't tell you what the patch does.
Rise of the Tomb Raider did indeed get a patch to implement 4k gaming quality and graphics improvements on PS4 PRO but it did not get HDR support.

There are very few games with HDR.
Uncharted 4
Infamous Second Son
Infamous First light
Deus ex Mankind Divided
World of tanks
Rachet and Clank(Not positive.)

They are the only ones I know of off hand but the other games that have gotten PS4 Pro Patches are only for graphic enhancements in details and or resolution. Not HDR.

No it doesn't. At least not at launch of PS4 Pro. Maybe it will in a future Patch.
Don't go by heavily advertised. Gaming websites have posted literally that every game that got patched had HDR included. And literally almost none of them did. I don't think they knew that wasn't part of the ps4 pro enhancements on all games.

Gonna try the FFXV Judgment Disc demo (On Japanese PSN) which is confirmed to have HDR.

I see lots and lots of Rise of the Tomb Raider HDR videos on youtube but I don't know. I don't own that game so I guess I can't personally confirm this. Many articles on it as well. We'll see if anyone else on here has anything to add in regards to HDR in Rise of the Tomb Raider because it's a title I wanted to pick up on Black Friday myself.

10-4, thanks Shorty. I wasn't sure if he was exclusively talking about XBOX ONE or if the PS4 was the same situation.

Another dumb question, hopefully you're willing to answer. I'm currently playing on a XBOX ONE S, no GLL and no HDR, obviously. Do you know what kind of input lag I'm likely currently experiencing?

113ms on hdmi 1-4 or 94ms on hdmi 5.
You really should have gll on when gaming.

The version of the game virtually out does not support hdr on ps4. Videos on youtube could be beta testers or just wrong.

On most games yes, but Infamous:Second Son has severe black crush in the nighttime levels. Not sure if its a game issue or a TV issue but it's bad.

Indeed it does and it's probably the best example of it to be found in a game.

The screen shots from other displays also have black crush, so I'd assume it's a game issue.

HDR for Tomb Raider is coming for PC for sure. From Nvidia SDK. I haven't seen anything for the consoles yet.

The Last of Us: Remastered, Ratchet & Clank are both really dark at times for me, too. The latter has no in-game brightness option to adjust, which sucks, but thankfully it's mostly bright and colorful.

Heh, the SDR version does that too. It has very large changes in brightness depending on what you are doing. More than any other game I've seen.

Seriously, I originally played it on a 1080p display and if you get damaged in combat you literally cannot see what's going on half the time.

Question for correct info!

Right now with GLL on and using HDR for Xboxone *even know it does not fully work* Does it still have the 60 MS lag? I tried playing with it on and having the washed out color but could not notice a difference between the 45 and 60.

So question is even know it does not work right now does the MS delay work?

If the vizio tv displays hdr yes, then you are indeed getting the input lag of 60. As far as seeing the difference between 45 and 60 goes. Some people will tell you it doesn't matter and you need to be a pro gamer to notice. That isnt the whole truth. The truth is input lag differences depend on two things. One is the player, two is the type of game.

On a game such as uncharted or almost any single player game the difference would be minimal to unnoticeable. On a multilplayer fps game the difference can be substantial even if you don't think you notice it. You may not "see" the difference but it is likely people with lower lag will kill you before you kill them. And if you dont think miliseconds can matter for that ask yourself how long it takes you to aim across a 4 inch enemy on the screen.
Some people care about it some people dont care about how competitive they are in multiplayer games.

So it's really a choice, better graphics or being a bit better in the game.

But like i said, you prob won't notice in anything besides multiplayer first person shooters.
