Backlight changes for me when I switch to HDR and back, but gamma does not. Whatever changes made carries over.
It changes when you're on the Game preset?

@Matt McRae

Got the update ... Thank you for the continued support. I did notice that now on my XB1s I can no longer select Bitstream out / DTS for audio. It will only allow me to select stereo since the update

What good is an on screen menu without a physical remote? Or do you mean without a NEW physical remote? If so it sounds like an old Vizio remote would work or if you have a universal remote you could program that too.

Yeah it's definitely time to step up my cable game and go with the blue jeans I hear much about. Definitely done with amazon basic. The amazon cable was only 4 months old.

So 1080p60fps YouTube video works, but if a video is 4k60fps it still doesn't work. I hope one day that might be able to work but who knows.

Yes but your true problem statement is you have too many remotes which you could just use for this.

Anyway if the question is: Is there a menu button on the back of a TV that never had a menu or can the TV read my mind to bring up the on screen menu? The answer is no, you need a remote, but you don't need a new remote since it uses old Vizio remote codes that can be programmed for. Otherwise continue to use your phone/tablet for picture adjustments.

Please guys, if you'd like to ask Matt to add you to the beta firmware list, PM him. Try not to clutter up this thread with a bunch of serial numbers. We go through this nearly every time there's a new beta firmware pushed out.

It would be of interest to me if we were able to use the supplied tablet or my phone to control the on screen menu or I may have just break down and buy a Logitech...to control everything...

About a month before I got my P-65 last summer, I upgraded all my cables to BJC and I've never had a single issue and my ARC works perfectly. Spending the money for BJC cables means you'll possess peace of mind that you will never have cable related issues in your system...assuming of course they are all under 15'.

BTW the FE series of BJC work perfectly, no need to spring for the Series 1. They're a bit pricey to say the least. And I use 3' cables for the interconnects from device to AVR...I don't buy that "less than 6' causes problems" crap, not for a single, solitary second. I use an 8' cable from AVR to P-65.

This is My opinion but I expect to see a 2017 P.

Pure speculation....

But it has been stated that this is a two year model.

However I would expect a new SKU with the new remote Matt is kindly sending out.... so while there maybe a clearance of the 16 modes, the 17 SLU is likely to be the same set with the new remote.

Just a guess

I bet you're right. I have a feeling the new SKUs will swap the tablet remote for the physical one. If so, smart move on Vizio's part IMO -- avoids all the grumbling from people who don't like the tablet remote, adds legacy-style remote functionality for everyone, gives the tablet-lovers the option to use their own smartphone or tablet if they like, and saves Vizio some money in the process since now they don't have to pack in a tablet that many people won't even use.

Yea I agree. I went out to Costco on Friday and they had 4 in stock and one on display. I was kinda shocked, because that was the first time I have seen the P65 there and it was on display. They have always had the M Series.

Good news is that the teams have been working really hard on new firmware. Version 3.2.8.3 is a test release which significant and numerous changes... too many to enumerate here but the highlights consist of:

1. EDID improvements and stability changes
2. CEC improvements
3. ARC stability improvements
4. DolbyVision improvements (including fixing some Netflix, Vudu playback issues)
5. Additional backlight enhancements (blooming reduction, fine tuning, etc)
6. Local dimming improvements (algorithm, fine tuning...)
7. Fixes for various stability issues, freezes, hangs on boot, etc.
8. 100's of small bug fixes and improvements

We have Golden Reference files that will be posted on Monday, along with official release notes. but I wanted to get this out for the holiday weekend to this group.

This firmware also unifies our 2016 and 2017 code bases and checks in significant architectural changes for futures releases and performance enhancements. The VIZIO 2017 press event is on April 24th in New York and we will be pre-announcing some significant features that will roll out this Summer. Stay tuned...

What I can reveal here (and what many of you already found) is that we added on screen menus and a new OOBE. This was a huge undertaking as we hooked up the UX to the underlying settings framework. There are a couple of known issues that we are fixing ASAP including 11 point adjustments but hopefully you will see the addition of our sidebar as a step forward.

The sidebar and new OOBE will work with older VIZIO remote that have Dpad or any universal remote that can utilize VIZIO IR codes.

To say thank you to our beta testers here... VIZIO has developed a new remote control with a Dead called the XRT135. If you are on the beta test list and don't have a remote that has VIZIO Dpad... email [email protected] with your shipping address and I'll send you a free remote.

Please test and report issues you find. We did our best to regression test from Sprint 1.3 to Sprint 2 (this code) but there are major changes to this code. I'll be monitoring this group and working with the team over the next weeks to knock down issues you find.

Again, thanks for your patience... and stay tuned for more improvements, new content and new features over the coming months.

Matt
Sorry if someone has already asked this, but was your team able to make any additional improvements to input lag on HDMI inputs 1 to 4? If I remember right there was going to be a separation of the HDR10 and Dolby Vision processing at some point which might lead to better input lag for games using HDR10.
