And since we cannot cast Amazon, HDR10+ would be useless, at least until other services start using it.

Hopefully VIZIO has a deep playbook and we'll learn some good stuff next Monday!

On my set it takes about 15-20 second tops. If it still says no signal i have to power things of and on or switch inputs back and forth. It has done this since i had the tv on every firmware. The new message sticks out more and makes it seem like longer than it was.

Sounds (and is) very annoying.

Mine started in the weekend, so I know it's something recent. I'll try leaving or tonight but I don't think it's that, I've definitely sat there for a few minutes trying to figure it out with no change.

As long as you have the display set to Calibrated or Calibrated Dark, it will work correctly when it detects HDR metadata.

It probably feels longer than it actually is but I would imagine around 20 - 30 seconds. Also, the video will appear for a second and then go blank for that amount of time before returning.

Hey Everyone

New to these forums, but I have just received my P65-C1. Hope I made the right call with it. This is replacing my Sony KDL-NX810 Tv, which was amazing! Still love that thing and trying to take the leap from 1080p 3D content to 4k is worth it (in the long run i know it will be). So far been playing around with some settings for the cable through my Shaw direct receiver (I live in Alberta, Canada) and i think i finally got it to where standard cable looks awesome without the DSE (think that is more to do with my satellite signal then the TV itself though. I was testing out some HDR content, but for the life of me I couldn't get anything with Dolby Vision to appear. I was using the Netflix app via my iPhone 7 to cast the content, but that just showed the standard content vs HDR, while my Xbox One S would show Ultra 4k HD content but not Dolby Vision. Iron Fist was showing HDR (so would that be considered Dolby Vision? Im guessing no).

Sorry if these have been posted before, i tried reading as much of these messages before I posted. But from what ive read you guys have been awesome.

My pic settings are the same for hdr or sdr. Nothing changes except for when i go to system info I can see if the material is hdr or not. May have to contact vizio for more info as maybe something is wrong.

I'll check the timing tonight, I was definitely flicking between inputs trying to make something happen so I don't have a handle on it for sure.

Either way, hopefully it's something that can be easily fixed because it was perfect pre-weekend.

For beta firmware testers, if you emailed Vizio per Matt's posting requesting the new remote, they told me they are getting hundreds of requests and they will only be responding as necessary. In my case they did not show me as a beta tester based on my s/n, so they replied to my email. I showed that I was in fact a tester on the latest firmware and they say they are sending me one now. So if you sent an email and have not heard back, you may not get an email reply. I would be patient. I am sure we will get postings when people start to receive them.

Iron Fist is available in both forms of HDR on Netflix. I believe Xbox does HDR10. To get the Dolby Vision HDR, you need to Cast it to the Vizio. Good luck.

Good news is that the teams have been working really hard on new firmware. Version 3.2.8.3 is a test release which significant and numerous changes... too many to enumerate here but the highlights consist of:

1. EDID improvements and stability changes
2. CEC improvements
3. ARC stability improvements
4. DolbyVision improvements (including fixing some Netflix, Vudu playback issues)
5. Additional backlight enhancements (blooming reduction, fine tuning, etc)
6. Local dimming improvements (algorithm, fine tuning...)
7. Fixes for various stability issues, freezes, hangs on boot, etc.
8. 100's of small bug fixes and improvements

We have Golden Reference files that will be posted on Monday, along with official release notes. but I wanted to get this out for the holiday weekend to this group.

This firmware also unifies our 2016 and 2017 code bases and checks in significant architectural changes for futures releases and performance enhancements. The VIZIO 2017 press event is on April 24th in New York and we will be pre-announcing some significant features that will roll out this Summer. Stay tuned...

What I can reveal here (and what many of you already found) is that we added on screen menus and a new OOBE. This was a huge undertaking as we hooked up the UX to the underlying settings framework. There are a couple of known issues that we are fixing ASAP including 11 point adjustments but hopefully you will see the addition of our sidebar as a step forward.

The sidebar and new OOBE will work with older VIZIO remote that have Dpad or any universal remote that can utilize VIZIO IR codes.

To say thank you to our beta testers here... VIZIO has developed a new remote control with a Dead called the XRT135. If you are on the beta test list and don't have a remote that has VIZIO Dpad... email [email protected] with your shipping address and I'll send you a free remote.

Please test and report issues you find. We did our best to regression test from Sprint 1.3 to Sprint 2 (this code) but there are major changes to this code. I'll be monitoring this group and working with the team over the next weeks to knock down issues you find.

Again, thanks for your patience... and stay tuned for more improvements, new content and new features over the coming months.

Matt

Hello, I am new to this thread coming from the Samsung ju7100 thread now with my new 65P. Can u please let me know how one can join the beta software test community?

Just wasting everyone's time if true, seeing as how they require a serial number that's in the beta program. But I wouldn't put it past people to try. People go crazy for free stuff, no matter how cheap it is.

There are quite a few lurkers as we have seen in the past. Many are on the beta program as well. You'll notice this especially when beta firmwares get released the amount of low post/1post users explodes. It wouldn't surprise me if that number is in the 100's.

A few things:

@shoman94 - I noticed that in your settings you have subsampling enabled on HDMI 5 for your xbox. What is the purpose of enabling subsampling on a port that won't do HDR?

Anyone have a link of the remote that is shipping to beta testers? I'm not in the beta program, but would be interested in picking one of those remotes up for when the next big update goes (officially) live.

Afaik you can't enable subsampling on port 5. It may be a typo or you may be reading it wrong

With that said, contrary to common belief, ~43ms is pretty decent input lag for most games, and with a great HDR+FALD image. I know hardcore gamers want closer to 20ms, and those with the P-series have input 5 which is still 4K, they just loose the HDR feature.

Best of both worlds, just not at the same time.

I don't get people making a request for the remote just the flip it. Between emailing, waiting for the remote, setting up an auction w/ fees, and shipping it out, these people are probably going to net $5-10... maybe. Isn't their time worth more than that?

I'm just thankful Vizio is offering us beta users the new remote free of charge! Way above and beyond, IMO.

===

And speaking of Ebay, I got an older Vizio remote mentioned in post 43387 and I like it. Good size and weight -- slightly bigger than the OG P-series plastic remote, buttons are nice and clicky, and everything works as it should. A few of the buttons, like Netflix, Amazon, etc. are unnecessary and don't do anything, but no biggie. The new firmware's on-screen options are nice, and very happy not to have to deal with the tablet except for casting!

This should hold me until the new 2017 remote appears, and I have a cheap backup.
