I'm sorry to be unclear; in my brief testing, YouTube HDR seemed OK after perhaps a bit of flicker when initially starting, but the serious blackout problems was with looking at Transformers 4 on BD and The Fifth Element on UHD BD with the latter blacking out about five times in two minutes. Between the flakiness with the FW and the question mark about the player, I'm trying to rule out the latter since I can't do anything about the former.

Has the Hulu streaming support changed significantly with the switch from cast-from-device to the beta "internal cast/web app" mechanism? Since I installed the previous beta (3.3.16.1), Hulu appears to be seeing a markedly degraded bit rate, resulting in significantly more blurring/pixelation than I'd seen previously.

I suppose it could be a temporary Hulu issue, but it's happened multiple times over the last 2 weeks and didn't occur at all before that.

Updating now, it's available if you're a beta tester by way of the "update" feature in the main menu.

Rather simple question on my P50-C1. Does changing the audio equalizer settings affect only the TV speaker and/or soundbar? Or does it also change the return HDMI audio out?

Wouldn't it be simpler just to test it yourself and listen for the effect?

Isn't this still limited to Samsung devices? Until that opens up, I don't see them getting it.

https://www.fandangonow.com/help/4k-uhd

Also, HDR is limited to Vidity capable hardware that allow downloads (HDD).

It would be great if they offered it, I just know Samsung has a stranglehold on that company (at least they used to).

At least with my simple 2.1 sound bar, there's
no affect. The EQ only affects the internal Display
speakers.

Tip: Best overall sound from the Display's speakers
is to have EQ on 'Bass' and then turn Surround Sound On.

Then it happened.

In one scene where a view of the white salt-flats switches immediately

For a split micro second, the star-field was bright and quickly dropped way down
in brightness. I rewound to watch the scene transition again with 'A-El-Zee'
Off, and that worked fine. I watched the rest of the movie with 'A-El-Zee' Off and
the Brightness turned down a bit under 50. Better dynamic balance.

Bee-Yoot-Eee-Ful scenery, especially the back-half of this movie on my P50.

Here's a good NetFlix movie (a rarity) to get lost into: "Lion".

I've noticed that happening a lot with my p65 too since beta firmware. Although I forgot to reset to default settings. We'll see if it persists tonight on Netflix. Also, what is the soft power cycle?

Looks like maybe they have limited offerings via Roku? I guess once it becomes more common it would be easier to add. From the few posts I got hits on m, seems like a crapshoot if you don't do vidity (via WD drive) or have a Samsung TV.

No, you can view FandangoNow UHD/HDR with the Roku 4k devices now such as certain Universal titles. Only the 20th Century Fox UHD/HDR titles are limited to Vidity.

I've had a P75-C1 since 4/25/17 and have loved it, but as of 2 weeks ago saw a dark spot on the screen, today I turned it on and saw about 5 dark spots. I called Vizio support, and described the issue, the person immediately said "Oh it sounds like the backlight is failing", I replied "Ah that sounds expensive, and of course it happened not even 3 months after the warranty ran out", he replied "oh no, you can't replace the back light on that unit, would you like help placing an order for a replacement unit?". I'm assuming you can see where it went from there, spending almost $4,000 on a tv that apparently will just get more messed up until I give up on it.

Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone had any success on it?

Also posting this as a clear warning of what can happen with these units.

I can confirm this. I didn't have 3.3.16.1, but with the latest version, I cannot view anything in HDR, whether I view it through the smartcast apps, or if I cast from a tablet to the Vizio. None of the DV-enabled shows on netflix come up in DV mode. I haven't checked if vudu works, so this could be a weirdly timed netflix issue, but that seems unlikely.

BTW, casting from the tablet seems a bit twitchy -- Do I have to click on the cast button in the upper-right first, before I can cast? Even if I do that, I'm having difficulty getting apps to connect to the tv; it often takes several tries. That hasn't happened to me over the last several firmware versions.

I guess the Soft Cycle can be used first to see if it can 'clean up' some problems.

Otherwise, there's the Hard Power Cycle and a Factory Reset (the 'Master' of all resets).

Perhaps, but I think one of added benefits of a Certified Premium cable is that it is also guaranteed to perform to spec for its given length.
