I guess the Soft Cycle can be used first to see if it can 'clean up' some problems.

Otherwise, there's the Hard Power Cycle and a Factory Reset (the 'Master' of all resets).

.

I did a factory reset anyhow. This looks basically the same as what I do with my computer before I open it up.

None of the DV-enabled shows on netflix come up in DV mode. I haven't checked if vudu works, so this could be a weirdly timed netflix issue, but that seems unlikely.

BTW, casting from the tablet seems a bit twitchy -- Do I have to click on the cast button in the upper-right first, before I can cast? Even if I do that, I'm having difficulty getting apps to connect to the tv; it often takes several tries. That hasn't happened to me over the last several firmware versions.
I'm now thinking, it's Netflix with the problem. I'm not getting the DV notification on my TCL P series either.

I'm assuming you can see where it went from there, spending almost $4,000 on a tv that apparently will just get more messed up until I give up on it.

Has this happened to anyone else? Has anyone had any success on it?

Also posting this as a clear warning of what can happen with these units.
Yes, that sounds like the backlight failed in a few zones. I had a whole row go dark. They first sent a tech to try to replace the boards, but that didn't work. They replaced the display under warranty. There is no fix except replacing the display.

Did you happen to pay for your P75 by credit card? There's a chance that your warranty is extended:

I was assuming that was a typo and he meant to say 2016 since 3 months from 4/25/17 is in the future still. Let's see what he says.

I updated to the new Beta 3.3.18.1.

No HDR with NetFlix via the Tablet.

Tried some 'HDR' content, like Jessica Bones, Luke's Age, Cosmic Matt, I-Won First, I-Won Chef'end, etc.

No HDR... just 'Normal'.

Pure Cinema appears to still work along with Reduce Judder in this Beta and the 3.3.16.1 Beta. It's
just that it's grayed-out and shown to be 'Off' when leaving that screen and returning back.

While checking the new 'No More HDR' bug, I turned OFF the Black Hole X-Scream Turbo Engine
and the pic is sort of 'semi-HDR' and looked pretty awesome with Brightness left at the 50 level. This
works best being eye-level, dead center. Gray is seen with off-axis views. (Turning down Brightness
may help a bit.)

I checked Salt and Fire again with the star-field. It's about 1:16:10 into the movie. Start a little ahead
of this to allow the resolution to ramp-up, say around 1:15:00. I didn't expect to act different with this
new Beta from the last one, as I don't think anything significant if at all was done to the ALZ operation.
(Which is an improvement over the latest General Release Firmware!) With 'ALZ' On when the star field
first appears during the first fraction of a second, the stars are bright, then rapidly drops as the ALZ does
its thing.

Update with the Tone/Beep/Squeal with audio mute function with devices: It's still there.

Received the update. Says I need a new remote. I got one months ago when matt mentioned it, but the picture shows the remote looks different. So I attempted to go to the good.gl website but it asked me to log in some back end Vizio website. I have a code but now I'm wondering if this is a 2nd edition new remote that's different from when matt advised prior?

Thanks!

Matt has addressed this a few times ?it has been repeated by members as well). HDR is waiting for certification from Amazon. They hope to have it rolled into the next update, but have no current ETA (since they are waiting for Amazon). With the latest beta you should be able to get UHD, you just won't be able to get HDR.

Wondering if you are in contact with DirecTV about DirecTV Now, its very inconsistent in functionality. It doesn't cast at all most of the time, when does, its great.

It never reads right..... Doesn't show what episodes you watched, you can never continue where you left off.... It's a total bust with Cast, CCU and the regular Chromecast.
I purchased a fire stick and it's surely the better implementation. It worth the 40 buck to save on frustration.

For the record....I don't own a blindfold. But thanks for your suggestion. I read these posts fairly regularly and must have missed that. I will strive to be perfect like you in the future.

I can't fault them too much for not searching the AVS Forum. It still does
not allow Phrase Searching. The searches via Google will do it. Why
the Forum has never updated for Phrase Searching, I dunno. It would be
a great help to many. Certain times, I have to search from Google or some
other search engine to get relevant results.
