Whew! Fixed it. The X800 was set to 4:2:2 (no bits option), so I started digging into the Denon's menus and for some reason the latest firmware update (within the past couple of weeks IIRC) had "helpfully" turned the upscaler back on, something I had killed off because it made The Last of Us Remastered on PS4 go pink screen when HDR was turned on. Jerks. I try to disable as many "enhancements" as I can because I just want to experience it the way the mastering engineers and filmmakers put it down on the disc.

Has anyone had issues with getting a replacement directly from Vizio? They're sending me a refurbished P65-C1b, "b" for refurb, and I hope I don't inherit someone else's problems. Only thing I can do is search the SN and see if it pops up, unless refurbs get new SNs.

I will say I had a great experience with customer service. I wonder if I can do a quick test before I accept it.

The P75-E1 I received 3 weeks ago came in with a defective display. Costco sold out and was unable to replace it. Vizio offered a replacement. Three weeks and I'm told it is sitting on the dock at the warehouse. All sorts of delivery excuses. Finally told them to forget about it and come pick up the broken one. In the interim, I had my Kuro fixed. The P75 goes back. I'll go with an LG or Sony OLED.

That's unfortunate, sounds like they are just low on the 75E1s. I bet yours was going to be a new unit replacement not a refurbished unit too. The shipping company has had it for a week before returning my call and setting up a delivery date for later this week.

That's because I'm special.

Actually, your basing that off of posts here or perhaps other Threads, too.
What about any readers that haven't posted their similar views with me on
the matter? And the many, many more who don't post/read forums anywhere?

I don't think I'm the only one out there in Vizio-land with this alternate view.

Granted I may be among the relative 'few'. After doing this for a great many
hours and some A/B testing, having ALZ has it's place for a pseudo HDR-like
look at times with some content. The overall Peak-Bright-to-Black Dynamic is
really neat.

I only frequently starting to do this with previous bug-a-boo Firmware with the
ALZ and just ended-up turning it Off for a while. Since then, I haven't gone
back to 100% ALZ On with everything. And you know me by now... ESPECIALLY
with space movies.

If 99% of the people like it On all the time, that's cool. I just post about it to
let others know and be aware of an alternative. They can try it to their liking or disliking.

Hey, you gave me an idea for a Tee-Shirt: "Xtreme Black Engine Pro: On or Off?"

I had thought that the headphone jack on the Vizio tablet would play what was in screen. Perhaps it works when casting? What ways are best to be able to use headphones for watching TV?

it shouldn't be a refurb, it should be a RECERTIFIED panel(one they inspect a 2nd time before it ships to be largely problem free). If you bought it new, don't settle for a refurb. My recertified panel is at least 98% defect free.

You should enter them exactly like I listed them. The color tuner settings for each mode (SDR, DV, HDR10) is global for all of modes. I recommend you only use calibrated and calibrated dark.

Dude, we get it, you're "King Turn Off The Biggest Bullet Point of These TVs." Every time I see a perfectly fine starfield with inky black space, I think of you and your milky gray screen and your constant trolling about turning off ALZ and smile. (Even I have stopped telling people to sit closer to the smaller TV. )

I've input your full stack while running Deadpool on the X800 and Santa Clarita Diet on Smartcast. I'd started with Calibrated Dark. I only use Calibrated when the window behind me is reflecting in daylight and I need to overpower it. Generally my room is very dim.

I suspected as much and changed it while watching Showtime. Went back to Deadpool 4K and while GLL is on, the judder during the credits is still brutal. The string of A BRITISH VILLAIN, the Green Lantern trading card, and THE COMIC RELIEF are strobtastic failness. Turning on Clear Action doesn't really help and the loss of brightness sucks. A CGI CHARACTER is terribad, too. At least lip sync isn't jacked up, so I've got that going for me.

Yes the first replacement is recertified. There are several different stories about the way they do this. They told me that it is a TV that is shipped back for any reason and it is repaired or re inspected. After I received my recertified TV, I noticed some burnt out pixels. When I called tech support they told me the next set they would send , would be a brand new set.

Just doesn't make sense . Why aren't they looking for signs of bad pixels before sending it to you? It's like they are saying, "hey this tv was returned let's see if this guy notices the the defects." Just a waste of your time.

that has aways been the only way for me to get motion perfect. It is almost like blur and judder set to 0 still are not turning everything off.

Turning Xtreme Black Engine Pro(Local Dimming) off effects more than just the contrast ratio. It effects the colors. It effects uniformity. This display was designed to be used with Local dimming turned on it almost all cases. Use it that way. It will be better.

I really wish RTINGS.com would go back and test the Vizio P-series for contrast ratio with Local dimming turned on. They have tested it for virtually all of the other recent TVs but not the P-series. Since the P-series has excellent local dimming it could benefit the most from being tested with local dimming turned on.

First off, I am a noob to this board as well as to Vizio TV's. I recently bought a 2016 Vizio P55-C1 from Dell.com as it was the only place I could find them in stock. Any way, I have Spectrum Internet and TV with Ultimate 300 MBps, a Roku Premiere+, and a Samsung Blu-ray BD-J5100/ZA all running through a Furman Power Conditioner PST-8. Every connection to my Vizio is connected with Monoprice 6105 cables. I have had the TV less than a month and so far, I have had it freeze on me at least once a day every day. The audio still plays but the screen is stuck. It usually requires me turning the power on and off and waiting for it to reboot. Sometimes, the TV requires me to unplug it from the power conditioner to do a hard reset. Is there an update in the firmware that I am missing in order to resolve this?

Also, the smartcast tablet is terrible idea. I just want a regular remote and to be able to adjust the settings directly on the TV instead of messing with the tablet. I feel that the tablet actually takes away from the TV instead of improve it.

Thanks for the help guys!

Yes definitely a great example of high quality footage. I got Directv 4k/UHD this weekend. It isn't HDR but quite honestly it was really good UHD SDR. Some of the concert footage on there was very good. I just wish we could get 1080p @ 60 FPS feeds from Directv for all sports. It would be sooooo much better than the over compressed 720p that we get for some of the sports right now(FOX, ESPN, ABC... ETC).

Hey everyone. Just looking for some guidance I am trying to get a replacement p75 I have the slightest yet most annoying split screen thing happening. The right side is just a tiny shade darker than the left. Only noticeable at certain times so it's very hard to get a picture they are requesting. Is there any pointers for this? It's so annoying .

Hopefully DirecTV will show the Notre Dame football games on NBC in 4K again this season....now we're talking. Looked really good.

I had the same thing happen. I couldn't see it with regular broadcast TV. However, it was very apparent with movies. Play a UHD movie that has a uniform object like a flat wall going across the middle. You will see it then.

Also, take the picture off angle slightly. If you pause the video and then move your head from one side to the other you will see that the darker side of the TV will actually change from one side to the other as well.

Definitely get them to replace the TV though. I have had 3 P75 displays. Only one of them had that issue. That TV was actually a refurb that hadn't been properly inspected or it wouldn't have gone out the way it was.
