Yup.... another one @GardenVariety .

I'd start a case at the very least. Not sure if you read here that a few of us are experiencing this. Two users that got replacements still have the same issue.

Noticing it on my 2014 P (blur) as well. Not a horrible feed, but something weird is going on.
Ya, don't know what's causing it but it seems unique to this program. Didn't see anything like this while watching ufc on FOX last night

I thought I remember Matt saying something about a coating on the LEDs to improve gamut (discussion was about why no quantum dots IIRC).

Just got back from BB and they had the Sony 940D along with the Vizio. I'd be very surprised if the Sony measured deeper blacks than the Vizio. I'm not sure if they changed their backlighting system from last year but it's definitely much thinner and the 940C two TVs down looked better. Who knows, maybe it needed a calibration. Either way, I'm feeling pretty stoked about my Vizio right now. Even with the couple little issues. Vizio could very well end up having the best PQ this year at half the price.

38 results when I search the thread for Canada. =) As stated many times.... probably in the late summer early fall best guess. Nothing official.

Just got back from my local Best Buy store again to check on the Vizio P75-C1 and ended up having a big argument with the salesman when he kept mentioning repeatedly that it employed edge-lit LEDs and not a FALD implementation and that its reliability was much worse than Sony or Samsung.

After trying repeatedly to correct him about the fact that it has FALD, he not agreeing to it at all and after i quoted Consumers Report giving Vizio comparable repair rates to Sony & Samsung and he telling me that is not the case according to his own experience, i told him he had a lot to learn about the products hes was trying to sell and i walked off the store in disgust, with my friend in tow saying that i should have been more patient + gracious.

Unfortunately, i can only suffer fools gladly up to a point...

Has anyone been able to write a custom Plex profile for this TV? I noticed it is being limited to the same files supported as a Chromecast, aka only H.264 and AAC audio, so no support for DD, DD+, DTS or H265 without transcoding them into either H.264 or AAC.

I'm a novice to writing profiles so what I've tried to make is just broken. I'm pretty sure I'm missing some important lines, but I can't make heads or tails of what part matters.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

<Client name=“Chromecast”>
    <DirectPlayProfiles>
        <VideoProfile container=“mp4,mkv” codec=“h264,h265,mpeg4” audioCodec="aac,eac3,dts” />
        <MusicProfile container="mp3,aac” codec="mp3,aac” />
        <PhotoProfile container="jpeg,png” />
    </DirectPlayProfiles>
    <CodecProfiles>
        <VideoCodec name="*">
            <Limitations>
                <UpperBound name="video.width" value=“3840” />
                <UpperBound name="video.height" value=“2160” />
            </Limitations>
        </VideoCodec>
    </CodecProfiles>
</Client>

I advised my Father-in-Law to pick up the P75 and BB advised him to go with an edge lit Samsung. He ended up picking up an edge lit from Costco for the same price as the P75. He got it home and realized the PQ wasn't as good as it had lines across the screen. He now has a P75 on order. Vizio should really lean on BB to stop the spread of misinformation.

You should have linked him on your phone to the product page on Vizio's website where it says....

The Next Generation of Local Dimming.
P-Series raises the bar with 128 Active LED Zones®. This advanced innovation dynamically adjusts your screen’s backlight to adapt to the content on-screen to deliver incomparable contrast levels, sharper details and the deepest, purest black levels.

I was going to say link him to BB own site but it doesn't mention anything about local dimming....

assuming someone wasn't satisfied with the 720P rendering on the P series, are there boxes available that can upconvert? such as a 4K DVD player?

Old habits die hard. It doesn't help BB's case to keep the exclusive for very long does it?

Well, the P is a fixed resolution device at 4k, so it does a good job with a good signal. Most modern AVR's have good quality scaling as well if you want to feed an upscaled signal.

I use my Pioneer SC-95 to scale most everything into the P. It works very well.

Tried searching but couldn't find this information. How much clearance is underneath the stand? Can anyone measure it? I am trying to figure out if our sound stand will fit underneath it. Otherwise I'm not sure what we will do. May have to get a different TV.

Thank you!

I have my TiVo upscale to 1080i mainly because it takes forever to change resolutions. Then the Display does the rest. I've tried 720p OTA directly to the display and the results were very similar. My AVR unfortunately doesn't up-convert so I can't try that.

Just noticed it's in the LCD Panel folder. You should really start the thread in the Calibration area.

This is the vertical banding I'm experiencing. Is this too much or what others are experiencing? I've uploaded an off-axis video as well as center viewing video. When viewing from the center, I can only notice banding toward the right side of the screen during light scenes.

Lots of new owners. Welcome!

You can get a nice overview on Page 1, Post 1 if you haven't seen it; lots of technical info directly from Vizio, suggested settings to start with, DolbyVision info, and a bunch more.

[QUOTE=Empire_of_Death;43145890]This is the vertical banding I'm experiencing. Is this too much or what others are experiencing? I've uploaded an off-axis video as well as center viewing video. When viewing from the center, I can only notice banding toward the right side of the screen during light scenes.

I don't see any banding in the second video, only in the first. Since I don't watch sports I wouldn't be able to comment as to whether my P75 exhibits this or not. More specifically, I haven't seen any banding on movies (bluray, streamed from Netflix or Vudu) or while playing video games with my PS4.

Home Theater: Display: Vizio P75-C1, Mains: Energy RC-70, Center: Energy RC-LCR,
Side Surrounds: Energy V-S, Rear Surrounds: Energy RC-10, Atmos: RSL C34E, Subwoofers: HSU VTF3-MK3 x 2, Receiver: Denon X7200WA
